In 2008 the property has been certified 4 “spighe” by the Umbria Region on a system of quality certification of agro-tourisms (farm stays and B&Bs) from 1 to 5.

CASA Archi is a two story spacious (250 sqm) traditional stone farmhouse which has been carefully restored. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a separate kitchen, dining and living rooms. It can comfortably sleep 6 people. From Casa Archi guests can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Umbrian countryside. The house is decorated with traditional antique furniture of the family and are completely furnished with all modern comforts.

The stay at Maridiana is optimal for friends and families who love nature and culture: children can freely play with the many friendly animals around the farm, while adults can enjoy the unique nature of the Umbrian countryside and its richness of art and history.

Maridiana is situated in the Northern part of Umbria close to the border with Tuscany. The historical hill towns of Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Cortona and Lake Trasimeno are all less than a 45 minutes drive from MARIDIANA.

Why the Owner Chose Umbertide

Because of the beauty of the property and its surrounding which are rich in nature, art and history. The view of the Niccone Valley that can be enjoyed from Casa Archi is just breathtaking.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse

Gianni and Marisa moved from Rome to Maridiana 20 Years ago because they wanted a more rewarding lifestyle. The farm is just an incredible place to live and even to spend a short vacation. The location has a spectacular view of the Niccone Valley and the surroundings which are also beautiful. During the years Gianni and Marisa have made many friends from all around the world, many of which, have fallen in love with Umbria and have bought themselves a property in the area.

Owner's Map of Umbertide

Maridiana was established in 1984 when Gianni and Marisa Berna decided to leave Rome for a more rewarding life in the Umbrian Countryside. They carefully restored 3 traditional stone-farmhouses, one as their home and other two houses for rental. Since then they were visited by many tourists from States, Australia and Europe with whom they have established strong relationship. Marisa has been a teacher in the local schools, and now (retired) she is the promoter of a local film Film Festival (Montone Film Festival). Gianni, as development economist, has promoted local projects in new agriculture: ecotourism, renewable energies, natural fibers. Today MARIDIANA is the largest (and first) alpaca farm in Italy.

Casa Archi - Charming Hillside Umbria Farmhouse
5/5

Do you mind if we move in??

Date of Stay: 10/01/10 Review Submitted: 10/22/10

"Thank you" seems inadequate to express our appreciation for the wonderful experience Gianni and his whole family provided for us! We stayed with our four young-ish (11, 8, 6 and 4) on the alpaca farm with Gianni and his wonderful family Oct 2010, and we are so anxious to return! The accomodations are comfortable yet elegant...the animals are entirely charming and interesting to experience...and the entire area of Umbria was our favorite. We were in Italy for 3 weeks and traveled through Umbria, Tuscany, Rome and Naples/Sorrento...our week at Casa Archi in Umbria was hands-down the best part of the trip. The towns of Umbertide, Assisi, Gubbio (a must!), Purgia, Cortona are so close and amazing. Gianni provided rich, spontaneous history lessons and interesting information about the region and the country. Our youngest daughter celebrated her 4th birthday while we were there, and the entire family joined us to sing and celebrate...a real treat! If you are considering staying, look no further...you will be so thrilled with the decision. The Casa Archi is clean and beautiful...Gianni and his family are warm, friendly, amazingly helpful, interesting...the process of setting up our stay was flawless and Federico (Gianni's son) answered all of our questions promptly and fully...Umbria is beautiful and somewhat undiscovered so not as crowded... We are anxious to return...thank you Gianni and Federico and families for many precious experience and memories! Our kids are begging to return to the 'alpaca farm'! -andy, jenny and kids colorado, usa
