First of all I don't think the pictures of Tropical Breeze do it justice. The house itself and the proximity to the beach are so much better in person. The owners have thought of everything too, leaving detailed, helpful information for renters and their pets. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and our dog Maisie enjoyed her first visit to the ocean. We hope to return sometime soon.

Upon arrival to our temporary vacation spot, we found it to be very clean and welcoming! The owners are very pet friendly are kind to your pets as visitors. The outdoor set-up is awesome with the yard secure and roomy for pets to roam. The interior set-up is perfect. The windows across the front porch give you a view of the ocean from afar. The beach? Not far to the access. The amenities of the home were perfect. Bringing the basic necessities per the list provided was easy enough! The town of Oak Island has it all! Local shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and beach fun....all available once you cross the bridge onto Oak Island. You never have to leave the island. But, if you leave the island...venture towards Southport and enjoy their offerings too! Would we stay here again... YES!

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Tropical Breeze was delightful! My Cavalier Oliver was happy from the time we picked up the homemade treats left for him until the time we had to come home...when he was sad to leave the wonderful front porch and fenced in yard. My friend and I were thrilled with everything about the house - the well-stocked kitchen, the comfortable beds, the cool breezes on the front porch...what a relaxing place to visit. The only thing that could have been better was the weather! But with the porch we were able to sit outside even in the rain...We were able to sneak in a few walks around the quiet neighborhood and to the ocean by way of a short stroll....We will definitely be back and Oliver will be very happy!! Thanks Liz for sharing your lovely home away from home....

Wonderful peaceful location, less than a minute from the beach. Awesome unspoiled beach....Great beach house! Attention to detail fantastic and Oh! So pet friendly without being overwhelming....We just LOVED our time here and will certainly be returning in the future.

My wife, adult daughter, adult daughters friend, Oliver(8 yr old black cocker spaniel) and I stayed from Aug 13-20, 2011. The place is awesome and the owners are definitely "dog" people who care that their guests have a wonderful time at Oak Island. Oliver especially enjoyed his freshly baked treats we received at check in. He and I also enjoyed our morning walk to a smail store just down the street. While I got the paper, Oliver was enjoying his biscuits given to him by the friendly employees of the store. The neighborhood was quiet and filled with runners, walkers, bikes, and beach goers. The beach is only a short block away and was not crowded, families, couples, and of course many dogs!!!! Just down the street was a marina where we went jet skiiing and got picked up to go Parasailing in the ocean-superb to say the least. Tropical Breeze is a comfortable pleasing place to be. We spent a lot of time on the front porch enjoying the warm breeze and ocean. Inside was a wonderful entertainment system and a fully stocked kitchen. We throughly enjoyed our week and hated to leave. We will be back in 2013 for sure. We already have plans for the summer of 2012 but can not wait to return to Oak Island and Tropical Breeze Kudos to the Owners for maintaining such a peaceful and appealing place. : )

my family and i enjoyed our vacation at the tropical breeze, the house had everything we needed to cook with and the fenced backyard was a very nice feature to have, beach access was actually closer then what he had pictured and wasn't crowded at all, we averaged between six and ten hours a day at the water and enjoyed the clean beach, i would recommened this vacation property to anyone for the location and value.

But I can say this home is everything it tells you and what a stocked kitchen - had all we needed to cook and eat great meals even a fresh lobster dinner - so relaxing we did not want to leave and time flew by. The town of Oak Island is so friendly and the beaches were so relaxing and not over populated. This home is so pet friendly - our loved ones received doggie cookies from the owners:) This home is clean and I am very nervous about using other peoples dishes and linens!!! We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Tropical Breeze. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we felt at home. This cottage is great for dog lovers, we never worried about our dogs while staying here, it is set up perfectly with the fenced back yard and carport area and gates. Our dogs also enjoyed the treats! It is an very easy walk to the public access area of the beach. We are already planning a get-a-way for next year!

We just returned from a wonderful stay at Tropical Breeze and wish we could have stayed longer. The moment we walked in the house we knew we were in for a treat. The accomodations are lovely. We just loved the open great room with the wall of windows facing the beach. Our dog never stopped wagging her tail, and we didn't have to worry about her because of the fenced yard and gated deck. This house has everything you could ever need: games, books, movies, a stereo, well equipped kitchen. It is obvious the owners care greatly about the house and love sharing it with others. Where else are homemade dog treats for the dog and a toy for your new baby waiting for you at check in? We want to come back soon! Thank you so much!

My husband, myself and our two English Springer Spaniels, Hershey and Reece thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tropical Breeze. I had not expected to be so close to the beach. The view and the ocean breezes were heavenly. We spent the majority of our time on the large front porch. Tropical Breeze is the perfect place for dog lovers! I loved the set up with the series of gates and the fenced back yard. The dogs had the freedom to go up and down the stairs to the back yard or to relax with us on the porch. It was clear that the owners are not just dog friendly; they are dog lovers. The dogs adored the home made biscuits Liz left for us. We stayed the last week of April; the weather was gorgeous and the ocean was warm. The sandy beach is extremely dog friendly and Reece (who won't swim in our pool) even went into the ocean. The house is extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped; we made use of the huge lobster pot! The owners had thought of every little detail that would enhance our stay. We definitely plan on returning in 2012 but will plan to stay for two weeks because one week was just not enough time. We fell in love with Oak Island and hope to retire there someday. Thank you, Liz and Gordon, for sharing your lovely home with us.

This is a wonderful house with lots of little touches that make a difference: games, movies, music, doggie bowls, etc. We had plenty of room for family, grandkids and dogs. The house is very well equipped - has everything you could possibly want. The dogs loved the fenced yard and the cookies made personally by the owner :-) Very short walk (2 blocks) to the beach via public beach access. The house is very comfortable and very nice, as are the owners. We loved staying here and would definitely recommend it.

The beach is perfect for long walks and enjoying the sunsets. Inside, the house is well–set up, very clean and well-maintained and lots of comfy seating. I had an absolutely wonderful time. Tropical Breeze is a beautiful and well maintained beach house only two blocks away from the beach. The kids and I had a great time going back and forth. The house was a lot bigger than I had expected, and we really felt at home there. I would recommend it for anyone! Very kid & pet friendly, although I only brought the kids. Lots of books and games, along with movies & music. I would be happy to stay there again.

Tropical Breeze was just perfect. The dog-friendly home was cozy and nice. The owners were very accommodating and friendly. The amenities were great - books, games, movies, kitchen gadgets, etc. The big, bright windows, the porch (complete with rocking chair and swing), and the short walk to the beach were the best parts!

My family enjoyed staying in this home with it's beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms. The owners have carefully thought of everything that one would require to allow for a carefree and relaxing stay at the beach...hose to rinse sand, clothesline for wet towels and suits, outdoor shower, porch swing, rocking chairs, well stocked & spacious kitchen etc. The beach was never crowed and always clean. Tropical Breeze is not only dog friendly but also is a beautiful home. We took our black lab and felt very secure and at ease during our stay. Fenced in backyard, access for him to stay in cooler concreted place with 2 gates under the porch with a huge gated front porch really made our stay a success. The owners had provided an extra dog leash, pet bowls and inside baby gates if we needed to use them. One of the best things was actually the interior of the home-the floors were very pet friendly and we did not feel we had to "watch" his every move afraid he was going to "mess things up". I would recommend this home to anyone who planned a trip to Oak Island. Easy beach access (only about 100 yards) and great block to walk with your dog. Hope to be able to go back soon.

My fiancé and I with our Beagle (Bella) stayed here for a week while I was home from Iraq. The family and rental company worked with me to get everything set prior to my trip back stateside. The house was fantastic and very large. Quick 100 foot walk till we were on the beach which is nice since the parking is minimal. Easy access to all key areas. (Southport, Wilmington, Carolina Beach) The fenced in year was great, was able to let our dog roam freely. Fantastic place and waiting to see what wee we have free next year to come back! Also the home is extremely clean and well kept up with! The owner also backed home made dog treat for Bella when we signed in.
