I just spent a week at the Pineapple House with my husband and our 2 girls (ages 2 & 4). It was an amazing experience for all us!! We had wanted to totally escape and relax and this was certainly achieved!! The house was amazing - even nicer than the pictures portrayed. The coral reefs right off the dock provided hours of entertainment for our entire family...water is so clear that we could see all the marine life without even getting in the water. We watched an octopus for 20 minutes from the dock- and that is something we will never forget!! We took the kayaks out, and that was easy to do even with small children (we brought our own life jackets). ??Dave and Trish were great!! They definitely took care of us and were genuinely concerned about us and wanted to do everything possible to make sure we were having a good time. We had a little plumbing issue, and that was care of promptly. Peter, the boat driver, was also great. He was very professional and showed up when he said he would be there. And he delivered us fresh fish to our doorstep everyday for only $10...Awesome!! ??I would definitely recommend this house if you are looking to escape your everyday life and want to completely relax.??We will be coming back!!

It is my pleasure to leave a review for the Pineapple House on Treasure Beach. My wife and I spent the holidays there with another couple and had one of the best vacations in recent memory. From the moment that we booked the house, the property managers (Dave and Trish) were quick in making sure that our arrival would be as comfortable as possible. Dave helped us book our flights to and from the island from San Pedro Sula, schedule activities, stocked the fridge with our pre-ordered provisions (Flor de Cana is a must), and acted as the general travel ambassador for the island which was great. Upon arriving at the house, it was very clean and comfortable and we instantly felt at home. The most difficult decision that we had to make each day was to kayak and visit the cays, snorkel in the great reef off the dock, or read a book on the porch- all a great break from the normally hectic life we have in the States. There was plenty to keep us busy if we wanted- we ended up going into town several times via boat (Peter, one of the caretakers, lives on the cays across from the house and is more than happy to take you into town or bring fresh fish from the cays for a reasonable price), deep sea fished for Wahoo, hunted the invasive lionfish with Dave and the Bay Island Conservation Association, and frequently kayaked 20 minutes to Water Cay which has a great sand bar. All locals and ex-pats we met were extremely friendly, generous and more than willing to share their experience or give us advice on what to see during our short stay. To top it all off, we had 8 days of dry and sunny weather at the end of December! Because it was the end of the rainy season, sand fleas were an issue and I would recommend Off Deep Woods to keep them off. Some of us had worse reactions to them than others but it never ruined our time outside as long as we protected ourselves. To wrap it all up, STAY HERE, we WILL be back in the near future so we can relive one of the best vacations we have been on at Treasure Beach. Thank you to all who made that possible!

My husband and I stayed in the pineapple house in August 2011 and had a blast. This was the first vacation my husband and I spent alone (we always vacation with family) and this was the perfect. We only stayed in the top floor of the house but walked all through the house and every room was great! This was our first trip to Utila, and will not be our last! The house is very nice and clean and everything was as it seemed looking at the pictures and reading the description online. The snorkeling off the dock was fantastic. We saw everything from cow fish to parrot fish to squid and hundreds in between, the coral life was beautiful. Make sure to take a trip to UtilaTown. We went one afternoon and met up with Dave and Trish and had a blast. Also if you don't feel like cooking, walk down the beach (or the back road) to Utopia for dinner. The chef there, Peter, is great and we also met Kyle, one of the resort owners, who was fantastic. The food there was wonderful. I would suggest taking a strong bug spray as we were getting bit frequently by sand fleas and the regular spray didn't quite seem to keep them off of us. I get bit by mosquitos like crazy at home too so I guess biting bugs seek me out! We also went fishing one day and did a picnic on Water Key, good snorkeling there too. My husband said that the diving was great as well. Everything was just beautiful and wonderful and everyone we met was super friendly. We had Peter bring us some fresh fish one day and after spending all day at the dock drinking beer and snorkeling we go to the house, open the fridge and voila it was in the fridge waiting on us! Utila is a must see for anyone who loves the tropics and the Pineapple house is a wonderful place to stay for 2 people or 8 people!
Owner response:we're so glad you had a great week. hope to see you at the pineapple house again some day.

We spent a week at the Pineaple House, and we could not have asked for a better honeymoon. After experiencing crowded Roatan, we were amazed at the tranquility that Utila had to offer, and then stepping on to Treasure Beach and seeing the Pineaple House for the first time truly gave us the sense that we were in paradise. The house was beautifully appointed. The design was extraordinary, airy open rooms, amazing views of the coral reef, and all the comforts you could want. Walking out of the house on to a white sandy beach, seeing sting rays and all kinds of ocean life in the water was truly the experience we had dreamed of. The caretakers were FANTASTIC! They met our every need, showed us around their island, and shared the island experience with us.
Owner response:glad you had a great time, we hope to see you again on an anniversary.

Heaven on Earth We spent one of the best weeks ever at Pineapple House. The house was perfect for my family of six (four children 8-15). The property manager was beyond helpful and the owner was a tremendous asset. We did nothing but relax in the sun everyday and eat fresh seafood. Pictures could not describe the beauty of the house, water and island. The people of the island were friendly and despite the State department Honduras warnings we felt perfectly safe. Perfect get away if you want to get off the grid and have no outside influences in your life. One of the most relaxing vacation in years. We travel six weeks a year to the islands and this is by far one of the best. The trip was an adventure worth repeating. No significant negatives except you must remember to have enough cash to pay the Honduras departure tax (about $40 us per person) and the fee to have the groundskeeper run you into town I felt was overpriced considering people from the island 50yds away went back and forth all day and I am sure do not pay $60. Other than these two issues, I can't say enough positives.

We had a family reunion of sorts at Pineapple House and the experience was beyond our greatest expectations. The house itself is beautiful and very comfortable. The great room allowed us to visit, eat and cook all at the same time. Bedrooms gave us privacy at night or whenver you wanted it. Mornings begin with coffee on the wraparound deck with its beautiful view. We spent most days relaxing on our own private pier, snorkeling, reading and playing cards. Kayaks were available for exploring or to cross the short distance between our island and the fishing village. (a 10-15 minute paddle) Our host Laurence was exceptional, interesting, friendly and unobtrusive. Dave and Trish had the kitchen fully stocked,(be sure to order the rum) and were available for any trips we wished to take. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and an escape from the worry and bustles of life, Pineapple House is the perfect place.
Owner response:many thanks mr. neuman, we sincerely hope you'll visit us again, soon.

Staying at the Pineapple House was the highlight of my trip to Honduras. The house is in excellent shape, very clean and contemporary. The snorkeling right in front of the house was awesome. The rental agent and owner were both incredibly helpful without being underfoot. I would definitely go back.

to whom it may concern. my husband and i just returned from a wonderful stay at the pineapple house on utila. no crowds, no traffic, no noise. just an empty beach, palm trees and a lovely new house. we rented as a two bedroom and it was perfect. we had some rain showers and some very hot days but when the breeze blew we opened all the doors around the balcony, it was like an open pavilion and there was no need for the a/c. the house has lovely furniture, kitchen etc., the bedroom was romantic(four poster bed) and comfy and the bathrooms very nice. most days were spent snorkeling the reef in front of the house, sunbathing and drinking salva vida, the local beer. the sunsets from the deck above the dock were beautiful (nice and private if you like to sunbathe au natural). we also scuba dived with capt. morgans, they do a two tank dive each morning and picked us up/dropped us off in their boat. we grilled fish most days, ate at utopia resort a couple of times and danced and drank rum with the locals on the cay one night, which was tons of fun and quite a cultural experience. peter the caretaker and dave steffens the rental agent took good could care of us and peter took us to water cay one day, he then came back at the end of the day to pick us up, we had the whole island to ourselves and sitting in the water watching the sunset was awesome (note to owner:- the house needs a cooler to carry beers on boat trips). this was our second trip to the island and we're so happy we chose to stay out of town this time, it was a completely different ( better) experience.

The kitchen is extremely well stocked with any appliance or utensil you may need. The furniture around the house is magnificent. The beach atmosphere is incredible... We were ready to come back the second we left. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND the pineapple house!!!!!!

What a great vacation at the Pineapple House! When we arrived into Utila by air, we were greeted by David Steffan, who was our contact before we arrived on Utila. David was very professional and he made sure we had everything we needed and arranged our water taxi to the house via Peters' boat. Once we got to the Pineapple house, the house was fully stocked and the house was beautiful. We had everything we needed, just like at home. The beds were comfy and the Air conditioning worked great. On treasure beach, where The Pineapple house is located, there is a community pier where the snorkeling is fantastic! All sorts of hard & soft coral, plus an abundance of sea life right in front of your eyes! Then, if you wanted fresh seafood, all we needed to do was call Peter by two way radio (who lives across the channel on the Cayes, and he can bring you whatever you want for dinner (fresh snapper, lobsters, etc). What more do you want for a great place to visit at very decent rates. When we come back to Utila, we would definitely stay at the Pineapple house again. Highly recommend this house to anyone who wants to get away from it all, and enjoy some of the best diving/snorkeling in the Western Caribbean. A+++++++++

Traveling here is like stepping into another reality, a beautiful escape away from the daily grind and distractions we all face at home. It is a bit of a trek to get out to the house, but it is so worthwhile, especially if you can spend a little extra time (i.e. at least 2 wks!!) in this little slice of paradise. The house is comfortably appointed and spacious, with an open concept and fully equipped kitchen, making lowkey meals easy & comfortable in the home... plus the large wrap around porch also features a grill, perfect for the freshly caught fish the house managers will be happy to bring by for you. The comforts of home are here, with a bit of an island twist. Laurence happened to be in town for our arrival and very kindly greeted us with welcome cocktails and a delicious shrimp pasta so we could relax on our first evening. What's really special though is the oceanfront property. The private dock is right outside your door and perfect for sunning and relaxing, fully immersing yourself in the ocean breeze and the calming sound and sights of the ocean, not marred in any way by traffic, resorts, loud tourists, etc. It's a truly peaceful place. And once you dive in you realize you are right on top of an amazing underwater universe -- the reef is available 24/7 for you to explore. We saw almost everything we saw on our dives (on a somewhat smaller scale) right off the dock -- tons of colorful fish, squid, octopus, moray eels, schools of baby fish moving together like music, barracuda, rays, etc. The reef is untouched & it was really quite incredible. This is an amazing place to dive. I was certified on this trip and totally spoiled, both by the beautiful reefs and by the front door service. We went out with John Fraser each day as our dive master, who was great. The prices were reasonable, and his guidance was knowledgeable and thoughtful. Also, forgoing TV, internet, and phone during the trip was blissful... a day or two of withdrawal and then just bliss! Some things to be aware of -- 1) The house managers will stock the fridge before, which is great, but if items aren't available in the local small markets, they may improvise (I'd also consider packing some dry goods, pasta/rice packets etc). 2) As mentioned, the trek can be long, and be prepared for an open air motorboat ride from Utila's main town to the house (adventure!). 3) The sand flies were sometimes intense during our stay, if they turn up, slather yourself w/the oil provided
Owner response:we hope to see you again christi

we all had a really nice time at the pineapple house.we've rented vacation homes several times before (belize, caymans etc.) and this was by far the nicest home and the most private location.if you want to get away from it all, this is a perfect choice. we rented it as a three bedroom and we (5 people) all had lovely bedrooms and private bathrooms.the kitchen was fully equipped and the furniture was all new and very nice. in comparison to previous rentals we've done, this was a bargain! the beach was private and the pier was a great place to relax, swim and catch a cooling breeze. we dove with capt. morgans dive shop from utila town and they picked us up in their boat each morning which was very convenient. snorkeling by the house was great and the owner showed us some of his favorite spots too. we walked to utopia hotel for dinner one night (about a mile up the beach), it was very nice and we also went to the cays for lunch which was an experience. this was a very relaxing vacation, just what we had in mind. we went to utila town one day and we were really glad we hadn't rented there (kind of dirty and no beaches) but if you're looking for bars and night life the pineapple house is probably not a good choice.

hello,I would like to say our trip to Honduras was very wonderful, the people were friendly, diving was truly amazing, and our time there was a trip of a lifetime. A big decision in planning was where to stay, and did we make the right choice in the Pineapple house. from arriving at the private dock to the breathtaking views and this gorgeous newly built house sitting not more than 100 feet from the water on this incredible beach.the sand was perfect. my wife loved the decor,i loved that is was so private and peaceful, truly exceed everything we saw and liked from the website.laurence is this great english gentleman that made everything very easy for us in planning what to or not to bring and advice on things to see and do. Definitely a bargain for a place that we now call paradise. I highly recommend Treasure Beach and the pineapple house.we will return very soon.(cant wait)...............
