Filthy & Disgusting Unit

Please do not listen to the so called "good" reviews. The only way this place could get a good review is if they never stayed a night in it and was paid to submit one! It smelled very moldy and I spent the first entire day cleaning everything. I had to purchase extra cleaning supplies and bleach the showers & tub. The shower curtain in one of the bathrooms needed to be thrown away. There was dog hair on the carpet runner in the hall. The refrigerator leaked along with a very old stove and pots/pans. I was very disappointed along with my family. It gives the Dunes of Panama a bad reputation. We asked to look in a the couple's beside us and their condo looked great. My advice is to STAY AWAY from this one!

Seems like cleanliness is an ongoing problem with this unit. When we arrived for our vacation there were cigarette butts in the sink, and also inside one of the guest bedroom tables. There was dog hair on furnature and a dog bone under the bed. The beds were made but upon inspection I don't think the sheets had been changed. The bathrooms were filthy, one smelled like vomit, the shower door was off the track and sitting in the tub, hair in the shower drain. An arm from one of the dining room chairs was broken off, the stove did not work.....I could go on and on. We have been coming to Panama City for 18 years, staying at the Dunes many times and I have never had such a bad experience. Please don't be deceived by the pretty pictures of this unit.......Unless you plan to use this unit for a drunken party stay away!!!!!

I reserved and payed for 6 nights and I even asked the person on responsible about the cleaning since I had seen in another post and the response I received was ''it won't be a problem''. Day one everyone was extremely shocked with the state of the unit, completely disgusting beyond one's imagination. It was like stepping in a foreclosure home. We were completely disappointed and upset on how deceiving this add is and the management company/owner are. We even showed the unit to the owner in third morning and nothing was done. Besides being gross, there was a leak which made the tile in the hallway soaking wet which almost made a couple of my party badly hurt themselves, I have pictures and video to prove it. On the second morning we couldn't take it anymore. The ceiling fans were so dirty that when you turned them on dust would spread all over the place. The pictures do not depict what the unit looks like. We left the it and moved to Edgewater and for much less and a great unit which saved our vacation. The management office is completely unfair and is not operating a honest business. ALTOGETHER A NIGHTMARE.

My family and i stayed here in the month of June and we had a wonderful time. The veiw was just grand and the unit was very nicely furnished, spacious and tidy.Everyone loved the fact that all 3 bedrooms are ocean veiw. Managment was very easy to deal with and the whole trip was smooth. We will definently be back next year.

Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers.

Bad Experience

We had a horrible experience with this rental. We rented this unit from vrbo.com for a week. It was absolutely disgusting. There was, what appeared to be, animal hair all over the furniture. The floors had not been cleaned. The refrigerator leaked water the entire time we were there. A call was placed to the provided number who indicated someone would fix it on Monday (we checked in on Saturday). Since we were there for a baseball tournament, we could not sit in the unit waiting for someone to come fix it. As it turns out, no one came to fix it and we were never contacted again about it. Since the kitchen has a tile floor, this is extremely dangerous if you have children in your group. We had several falls during our stay even though we tried to keep the water cleaned up. Note that the photo of the “red” bathroom shows a large tub….the tub was disgusting with all kinds of gunk in the jets. You can hardly turn around in what is left of the bathroom. The shower is so tiny that the men in our group could barely shower in it. Good luck getting the front door to close. When you finally get it closed, you can still see daylight coming in. The second king bedroom has a bed that is extremely hard and when we stripped the bed down on our last day, we discovered that the mattress cover was being held together with tape! The alleged owner of this unit lives on the same floor and when we approached her about our issues, she closed the elevator door in our face! We spoke to two other owners in the building and they were extremely nice and after being allowed to peak into one of their units it is evident that they are not all like the alleged owner of the unit we rented. They were nice well cared for units. Not a bad building, just a bad owner.

Stayed for a week with my family and had the best time! Condo was cleanly, updated and the view was breathtaking. We had such a fun time together and we had room enough for everyone. Will definitely stay here again next year.

Dirty unit

I go to Panama City Beach every October for a month. This was our first time staying at The Dunes of Panama. This unit was filthy. You can tell that the owners have spent a lot of money on furnishings and flooring and the view was great, So I can only deduct that the management company is not having the unit properly cleaned. I had to clean the baseboards, flooring and everything before our stay. The stove and all kitchen appliances as well as furnishings were filthy and inadequate. Old linens etc were stashed in every drawer, bottom of closets, etc. We had to buy bath towels as the ones in the unit were cleaning rags. Stay in a different unit until they get a new management company and clean the unit.

Owner response:Problem cleaning crews were taken care of and management has changed hands since then.
