Best Vacation Ever

My family has been to the beach, mountains and to Disney but this is by far the best vacation we have ever taken. So many times I would come back from vacation absolutely worn out and in need of time to recover before going back to work--but not this time. I feel relaxed and refreshed. I spent my time sleeping, reading, napping and baiting my wife's hook. The cabin was well cared for and decorated with skill that adds to its nostalgia. I was taken back several decades to a quieter and more peaceful time. Thank you for sharing your treasure with us. We will be back.

Honeymoon

We spent an enjoyable honeymoon weekend here. The location is private and peaceful, just what we needed after the wedding. We made great memories here, like having our first breakfast together as husband and wife in the gazebo overlooking the lake. The fire pit and the hot tub were a great way to end a day of boating. Thanks for a relaxing honeymoon!

This was my second stay at TBL--hope for many more. This is a unique and special place. the owners are terrific to work with and the lodge could not be more comfortable. There's no gamble with this one--its a sure thing.

Great vacation cottage, perfect location, Owners were fantastic

My wife and I stayed here for 10 days in Oct. 2011 and I could go on at great length about how wonderful this cottage was and what a great time we had. The only downside was they didn't arrange to have six or seven, 8 pound bass waiting to be caught when I arrived (maybe I forgot to request that added feature). Kidding aside - we had one of the best vacations we could imagine. The location on the peninsula has to be experienced to be believed - water view from everywhere. On a side note - the neighbors were quite friendly and added to the enjoyment we experienced. A few little tips if you rent here: --Close by groceries at the Piggly Wiggly --Not far from the town center of Greenwood with WalMart, Pancake Houses (I think there were 200-300 of them - per block) and all the other "big" places you may want although once you are in the accommodations and relaxing the if you are at all like us the last thing you may want is the hustle and bustle of the big places. --Best place for live bait is the little gas station in front of Piggly Wiggly (also good looking burgers but wife wouldn't let me indulge - something about ruining my dinner). --A couple of nice golf courses within a short distance (AND great green fees - especially for someone used to paying California rates). --Fun fishing off the dock - we had a little bit of turbulent weather so the bite wasn't real hot but caught a few (one 4+ pound cat - made my week). I could go on but I hope this gives an idea. Best thing I can say to voice our opinion - we are already looking at our 2012 dates and would love to return. Best part of the cabin - the owners.

What if they are accustomed to big and super-fancy? Turleback Lodge is everything Mart and Bev says it is! We could not have asked for a better vacation spot. The lake was wonderful and relaxing. We loved the cabin, it's in the perfect location. The cabin offers all the comforts of home and then some. Mart and Bev have thought of everything! We have recommended this vacation spot to all our friends and are planning a return trip. An enchanted vacation!

My husband and I indulged ourselves with a two week vacation at this lakeside cabin for his 40th birthday and our 10th anniversary and had a wonderful vacation, everything was perfect. We chose this property because of its proximity to the water, abundant fishing and 400 ft of lake front views. We rented a boat, explored the whole lake, and were visited daily by all sorts of wildlife, including a pair of ducks, a baby turtle and a Grey Heron. Our hosts Beverlee and Mart, were just a phone call away, and very accessible, instantly responding to any and all questions/problems (Thank you Mart and Beverlee!). We had easy access to restaurants, etc but also appreciated the quiet and secluded nature of Turtleback Lodge, where everyone is friendly and dogs are loved. We hope to return next year and recommend this clean and comfortable cabin to any one looking for a quiet, family vacation. It is truly a family treasure we will remember forever.

Magical Christmas!

We had the most relaxing, magical Christmas! Our family of four as well as our American Bulldog drove up from Florida, hoping to have a stress-free holiday in a colder climate and that is exactly what we got! Before our trip, Beverlee was a joy todeal with and wanted to assure us that all our needs would be met. When we arrived, the Christmas tree was sparkling in the window and the location was spectacular with a view of the lake from every angle. Every comfort was in place and there were so many extras. The quaint cabin was decorated for the holidays but it also had so many quirky and adorable fishing items. As the weather got colder, Mart came over to install a heater on the pipes so they wouldn't freeze and it was so nice to meet him and know that they were thinking of us. We loved having the fireplace and made a fire every evening (Mart had plenty of wood ready for us before we got there). The hot tub was wonderful as was the swinging bed! My husband enjoyed fishing from the dock as well as the paddleboat. I loved waking up to enjoy my coffee in the gazebo each chilly morning and watching the sun rise and listening to the train off in the distance. My children loved hanging out watching movies, reading, playing games and exploring outside. On Christmas Day, it actually snowed and we were able to make a mini snowman, have a snowball fight and just enjoy the beauty of a white Christmas- a dream come true for us! I can honestly tell you I have never felt more worry-free and content! We did not want to leave! We hope to have the opportunity to make it back during the summer and invite some of our NC family to meet us there so they can share the experience. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone! Thank you to Beverlee and Mart for a fantastic vacation!

I had no idea when we started renting our little cabin that I would so love hearing about the memories our guests made while staying there. Every time we are getting things ready I am thinking about the guests, hoping they have perfect weather, hoping they catch fish, enjoy the fire, the hammock, the gazebo....we really appreciate hearing what they most enjoyed and what we can do to make things even more enjoyable the next tiime. Great Place to Relax and Enjoy the Scenery

We had a wonderful time. The kids loved the paddle boat, the fishing was good and the barbecue house was great cooked all our meals out there except for the fish fry. We will definately go back.

Terrific Cabin on the Lake!

We just had the opportunity to stay at this charming cabin for the weekend...it has the feel of a family treasure that you can't wait to come back to, year after year! The location was ideal, the cabin is surrounded by views, wonderful breezes. We found the cabin clean and it had everything we needed for the weekend! We especially enjoyed seeing the sunset in the evening, and watching the (full) moon rise at night. Great recommendation on where to rent a boat..Water's Edge was great! Thanks to the owners for opening up this treasure to rent!

There's No Other Slice of Heaven Like Turtleback Lodge

Our family of four -- with 2 young daughters -- enjoyed a stay at Turtleback Lodge this summer that was all too short! The little cabin is PRISTINE, and more full of character and charm than you can imagine. Beverlee and Mart are fantastic "hosts," making sure every detail is covered to ensure a worry-free, magical stay. We loved the refreshing deep water right off the end of the dock, and swam every day. We don't fish, but the lake is LOADED, as evidenced by all the fishing activity we saw. We loved the mist on the lake in the mornings, the lazy days in and around the comfortable cabin, and the twilight hours chatting in the gazebo by the soothing shore. Our daughters loved the swing bed on the porch, the model sailboats in the rafters, and the "real logs" that make up the house. There's a paddleboat, too. Beverlee even provides a thoughtful collection of toys, puzzles, games and crayons for little ones, but we found we never had time for them! Too much lake living to do! We found a great farmer's market in Greenwood (with Beverlee's help), and enjoyed fresh local produce all week. We also ate out one night, guided by a complete list of local eateries provided at the cottage. What a wonderful, rejuvenating, fun time! We'll be back, for sure!

This property is just great, the cabin is like a museum with all the historical effects. I saw something different every day. We had some first time fishers with us and guess what , everyone caught fish. I never heard such laughing. We had a ball. Nice spacious location, cabin, parking, sleeping areas. Thanks so much for the memories. I am glad i live in Greenwood and am close by.Will stay again. Forgot to tell you about the nice swimming area especially for small children and paddle boat.

A relaxing retreat

We stayed at Turtleback Lodge over our spring break with our two golden retrievers. What a find! Having the lake on three side of the house was wonderful. The cabin had every convenience we could ask for, but was rustic at the same time. The decorating is unique, and the boat in the rafters of the living room even has a light! We've traveled a lot and have rented houses in the states and in Mexico. This one was the best for the price and location. A great getaway.

Serenity at it's best!!!!  Our stay was the most relaxing trip we've taken in a long time.  The rustic charm of the log cabin was delightful, while still having all the conveniences of a modern condo.  The peacefulness of the surroundings made for a very restful night's sleep  The lazy days were filled with a cool breeze blowing off the water, while we enjoyed watching the boats, fishing and jet skiers go by from the gazebo.  Can't wait to get a few days to "get away from it all " again.  Thank you for an enjoyable stay that was second to none.

MY FAMILY TOTALLY ENJOYED THEMSELVES. THIS IS A VERY UNIQUE CABIN. YOU CAN FIND SOMETING NEW EVERY DAY. MY GRANDAUGHTER SAYS SLEEPING IN THE SWINGING BED IS LIKE BEING ON A CRUISE SHIP BECAUSE ALL YOU CAN SEE IS WATER. THE FISHING IS GREAT. WE CAUGHT 2 LARGE CATFISH AND 32 BREAM..ALL FROM THE FLOATING DOCK. THIS WAS JULY 4TH WEEK WHEN THE FISH ARE NOT USUALLY BITING. BEVERLEE IS WONDERFUL TO RENT FROM. SHE MADE SURE WE HAD EVERYTHIHG WE NEEDED AND EVEN HAD A NEIGHBOR BRING US A NET SO WE COULD GET THE BIG FISH ON THE DOCK. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A FUN PLACE FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY AND A SAFE PLACE AS WELL, YOU NEED NOT LOOK ANY FURTHER...THIS IS THE PLACE!
