Located in Driggs, Idaho - 34 miles from Jackson Hole and 95 miles from Yellowstone. This cozy home is the perfect place for that family or group vacation you’ll talk about for years. You’ll be centrally located in the quiet and beautiful Teton Valley, surrounded by adventure possibilities for everyone.
Water lovers can take their pick from canoeing, white water rafting, gentle float trips, or kayaking on the Teton, the Snake River, or on many lakes in Grand Teton National Park. Fishermen can take a float trip on the Snake or fly-fish the local rivers or the world famous Henry’s Fork.
Other nearby activities include hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, picnics, and day tours of the National Parks. Golf is available at several locations nearby in the Teton Valley and Jackson Hole. A number of local outfitters offer horseback rides, but it’s tough to beat the Spring Creek Ranch for combining a ridge top ride with spectacular views of the Teton Range and the Elk Refuge. Take it from me, my brother-in-law will never skip another family vacation since his wife returned with pictures of his sons on horseback with the Grand Teton in the background.
Winter vacationers are just minutes away from great powder at Grand Targhee Resort or a quick trip over the Teton Pass to ski at Jackson Hole. Or enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoe trekking, snow mobiling, a dog-sledding adventure, or a horse-drawn sled ride in the National Elk Refuge.
After a day of adventure, a quiet night in the cabin is perfect for socializing with friends and family. The cabin is located in the town of Driggs, Idaho, which has a number of restaurants, shops, and a major grocery for stocking up just a mile away. There are a great rental shop (Peaked Sports), snowmobile outfitter (Teton Valley Adventures), and other services in town. The town also has a skateboard park and its own drive-in theater, “The Spud”, identified by its trademark potato the size of a truck.
Just over the mountain, the town of Jackson has more adventure related services and is full of art galleries, shopping, restaurants, and museums. Jackson is also the home of the National Museum of Wildlife Art and the National Elk Ridge. In the summer, don’t miss the town rodeo and chuck wagon barbeques.
Sleeping arrangements: Two downstairs bedrooms have queen-size beds as does the Master Bedroom on the second floor. The fourth bedroom has two single beds, which can be pushed together to make a king. Extra bedding and straps are provided for this purpose. One of the three sofas in the living area pulls out to a sleeper.
Both baths have shower/tub combos. All bedrooms and baths are furnished with plenty of linens and towels. The home has a fully-equipped kitchen with corian counters, microwave and dishwasher. The dining area will seat 8 with room for 6 at the rustic wood kitchen bar.
The spacious living room has leather furnishings, a large screen TV/DVD/Stereo, Dish satellite service, and a gas fireplace. A second TV with VCR is in the master bedroom. The washer and dryer mean you don’t have to overpack. The whole house is comfortably furnished with a western/wildlife theme.
There's also a two-car attached garage and a wrap-a-round porch with lots of seating to enjoy the evenings.
