Fantastic Remodeled Beach House 3BR/3BA in Aptos-Rio Del Mar
Year Purchased: 2008
Why the Owner Chose Aptos
We looked up and down the coast, but focused in on this Upper Cliff locale of Aptos. It is a quiet area where the homes are well kept and many are being upgraded and redone. Some of the homes a few blocks away are in the 3 ++ million dollar range. It is only a short walk (12 houses) to the path that leads down to a less populated and expansive beach used primarily of locals. The town was a pull for us as well. It is not insane with lots of traffic, but has a small town feel with yummy little restaurants that you don't even need to have shoes on to be served. The drive from our primary residence in San Jose is only 40 minutes and the home is easy to get to and has ample parking. It is an easy drive to Capitola or Santa Cruz if your in the mood for some action. Nisene State Park is very close and has incredible hiking with huge pine trees and water falls.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The home has a brand new feel to it, since it was a grand scale remodel several years ago. It is very private and easy to entertain there. Every bedroom has their own bathroom and you have lots of places to spread out. Its great for kids and kids at heart since the house includes many amenities like hot tub, professional arcade game, Playstation, ping pong, bicycles, Wifi, flat screen TV, direct TV, stereo systems with fabulous sound system to name a few. The kitchen is fully stocked with your every need, just bring your food and libations. The backyard is fully enclosed as well as the front yard. The home is nicely decorated in a relaxing beach/spa motiff.
Owner's Map of Aptos
My husband and I have lived in the Bay area for over 20 years and love all that it has to offer. There is so much to choose from, but we enjoy winding down at the beach. Dan works in silicon valley as a sales engineer and I am a stay at home mom of two teenagers. But come the weekends, cowabunga dude!! The surf calls us and off we go!

Fantastic Family Vacation Home

This property was perfect for our post-Christmas, three generation family vacation. The house was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, particularly the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms. The spaciousness of the property immediately gives a sense that all ages will be happy here without getting in each other's way. There are special touches: a chaise lounge in the master bedroom where a little one can be read to quietly away from the hum downstairs; the super retro arcade games in the family room. Although it rained one day, the ping pong table and a stereo system in the garage allowed all ages to carry on playing while the adults enjoyed a film in the living room. The kitchen was wonderful to work in, fully equipped and the open breakfast bar divider allowed whoever was preparing a meal to be part of what was going on in the living/dining area and a good place to set drinks and snacks out for the ever-grazing family. Whether we were cooking, playing or just relaxing there was space for everyone. We would highly recommend this house. The owners were very amenable and even insisted on posting back a telephone charger left behind. The area is a beautiful wooded community, exactly what this English family was looking for to have a non-touristy, idyllic California coastal holiday. Even though it was not beach weather, the walks through crisp air, lots of trees and rural lanes to the beach and surrounding area have something that is missing from more well known resort areas. A half hour drive up the coast takes you to Santa Cruz and Monterey is just an hour south. My children have already asked me to book the house next year.

The house was just as the listing described - very clean and you felt at home.

We had a great week in this beautiful home, Very well decorated, roomy and comfortable. Back yard with spa, fire pit and barbeque is great. Ping Pong table lots of fun and nice bikes to ride. There were 7 of us and we had plenty of room without being on top of each other. Loved the Grand Master suite, didn't want to come home to my bedroom which is small in comparison! Additional Master Suite also was very nice!

Our family of four lead hectic lives, this year in particular. When we walked in the door, we felt like we walked into a HGTV home. On the mantle a wood carving reminds you to "relax". The home is beautifully decorated with everything one could need. The beds were very comfortable. There were games galore, places to be together, and options to read and be alone. We took many walks in the neighborhood, beach and fantastic state park. We loved every minute. The homeowners were wonderful.
Owner response:Thank you for your detailed review! We couldn't be happier that you had a fantastic experience. Can't wait to see you again sometime soon!

We stayed here in Sept of this past year and it was better than we could have hoped. Ironically, the best thing about the house ended up being the atari game table since the kids would get up early and go play instead of waking us up. The walk to the beach was maybe 10 minutes or so, but we do have young kids so our pace is slow. You do not need to bring beach stuff. I bought umbrellas and sand castle stuff and when we got there we discovered a huge selection of chairs, umbrellas, and toys in the garage. The kids are still talking about "Our Beach House Vacation." Oh, also this neighborhood was very quiet so the streets were not too busy to walk down with kids.

Listing and photos on web site accurately reflected the property. Owner gracious and well acquained with local activities. Great home, multi generational visitors, all had exceptionally great time. GrumpyGrandpa loved it! All are ready to return for new adventures. Short walk to the beach. Great ping pong tournament (I lost). Can't remember the last time I played PacMan (I lost). Young bike riders note, bring helmets! Great bike riding in the neighborhood. Highly recommend the property. First time visit to Elkhorn Estuary in Moss Landing, all had a great time. Overall we loved it and are looking forward to a return visit.

Exceptionally clean, and impecably furnished. Short stroll to the path down to the beach. A 6 year old can do it no problem. Well stocked with pots and pans to do cooking. A great place to stay with families especially the video arcade game. Thanks for bringing the 80s back to life with Ms. Pac Man. So wonderful that each room had a bathroom associated with it. Great for families who vacation together. My daughter has allergies and asthma so I am extremely picky about a rental place. I would definitely reserve this place again. She had absolutely no problems.

This is a very nice house with a lot of extras. The master suite is amazing; from the relaxing decor to the upgraded bathroom with steam shower and jacuzzi bath. The hot tub, ping pong table, beach cruisers and other toys offer something for everyone. Also, the owners are very helpful and attentive, to the point of giving a call after we arrived to make sure everythings was as expected. We had an amazing time and would stay here again.

Lovely home. Small backyard but very nicely landscaped and good amenties (deck, firepit, spa). Grand master bedroom/bathroom very impressive; 2nd master very nice as well. Kitchen is lovely; we could've used a few vacant cabinets to put food in; inside we had to keep everything on the buffet and countertops. The living room is a little dark rather small for 6-8 people staying there. There were lots of great places in the neighborhood to walk and the beach is not far. However, if you want to take alot of things to the beach, better off to drive down there. The bicycles are very nice and we used them and the pingpong table.
Owner response:Thanks for the helpful feedback! I have cleared out more space in the cabinets for renters to store their items. Luckily the kitchen is stocked with large array of serving dishes, pots and pans, blenders, waffle maker, spices etc for your gourmet cooking experience so no need to bring those items. We are also addressing the lighting to make it a little brighter in the living area.
