GENERAL HOUSE DESCRIPTION:
Luxurious beach front cottage named Wine Down for a reason! Come enjoy this gorgeous beach front haven at the western most end of Galveston island. This home boasts brand new downstairs hardwoods, matching kitchen chairs and regular bedroom updates. The home has a designer color scheme of sand, grass and water tones. Beautiful, inviting, but still kid-friendly. The house is 3 stories...the ground floor is open with concrete floor, a picnic table, outdoor dining set, charcoal grill....perfect for grilling or boiling seafood. Hot water outdoor shower with privacy surround as well! On the 2nd, main floor you'll find the living room and kitchen (granite counters) open floor plan, queen bedroom and full bath. Balcony access spanning the length of the house. The third floor has a brightly decorated kids room with 4 twin beds and bath, another queen bedroom w/ private bath and a large master / large bath ...with access to the top full length deck.
The main floor balcony has an outdoor dining table for 6-8, as well as a full sectional sofa and coffee table. The upstairs balcony off the master has a sofa/ club chair set and round coffee table for conversing along with lounge chairs for quiet, peaceful relaxing. Two decks of furniture!
All bedrooms feature new Euro-style pillow top mattresses & excellent linens.
Watch the boats cruise, the pelicans dive, your family play, the clouds glow over rolling waves at sunset all from the comfort and privacy of your home away from home. The view is breathtaking.
ELECTRONICS:
'Wine Down' is fully equipped with electronics. There is a 50' plasma flatscreen TV in the living area, complete w/ premium channel satellite Direct TV, DVR and DVD player. The stereo plays music from numerous satellite channels.
All bedrooms have 32' LCD flat screen TV's , Direct TV and DVD players. WIFI included.
All bedrooms have large closets and ceiling fans.
KITCHEN:
The kitchen is completely equipped for gourmet cooking and serving. Crystal wine glasses included for those who choose to Wine Down by the sea. The indoor dining table seats 6-8. Kid's chairs are provided around the house for your kids' convenience. No high-chair, however.
BEACH:
The house is perfectly located between two wooden dune cross-over bridges making beach access even easier. The beach in front of Wine Down is manicured regularly, and NO vehicles are allowed in this section of beachfront. This ensures a clean, beautiful, safe and quiet beachfront.
The Pointe West development spans the west end of Galveston island..from Gulf side, to bay side ...six miles of resort water frontage...pick your side for sunrise, or sunset watching!

The home was nicely furnished and had great views. However, the property manager, Sand 'N Seas Properties, doesn't allow check ins after 5pm (It wasn't noted on VRBO that check-in was before 5pm). We flew into Houston and were delayed in rush hour traffic. The property manager called us around 4pm and stated that if we didn't arrive by 5:30pm that we wouldn't be able to check in until 9am the next day. We had already prepaid for 3 nights and it was disconcerting and very stressful to think that we might not have a place to stay with 3 small children. We felt that the property manager would have been more accomodating with a late check-in. The property manager called us multiple times to see when we would arrive. Luckily and thankfully, she stayed until 6:15pm but we weren't sure she was going to wait to check us in until we actually arrived. We own beach rental property and would lose many clients if we only allowed check-ins before 5pm. We have stayed at many places that accomodate late check-ins by using lock boxes and electronic door locks. This property would improve its occupancy rate by offering late check ins like their competition. Also, the cleaning service isn't allowed to make bunk beds secondary to liability issues. There was a message on the bunk beds that said: "This bed is not made because our insurance carrier prohibits staff from making bunk and trundle beds. We apologize for the inconvenience." After paying for full-service, we expected all the beds to be made. I would recommend replacing the bunk beds with regular beds or finding a cleaner that can make bunk beds. Here are some tips that would have improved our stay. The cleaner needs to dust the TV cabinet regularly. No hair dryers were in the unit and it is nice to have a hair dryer in each bathroom. It would also be helpful to leave paper towels in the kitchen so that tenants don't have to run out to the grocery store on arrival. Consider adding bathroom towel racks since there are minimal places to hang towels especially in the front upstairs bathroom. Finally, this property is in a foreclosed resort and the pool and restaurant are currently closed. We discovered this after booking the property and were given a discount. These issues should be easily addressed making this a great place to stay.Owner response: Dear Guest, I am glad that your late arrival was accommodated, and apologize for any misunderstandings prior to arrival. Our management company maintains our property to very high standards but I will encourage future guests to read their contract terms fully so as to avoid unexpected situations. About the owner: We are a family of 6, with kids ages 6,7 15 and 21. Although only an hour 1/2 drive from our house, we're really able to get away and wind down when we get to this beach haven. Please consider this your home away from home!
