The cabin was amazing! My husband and I rented this cabin the week of Labor Day. We enjoyed every bit of it. The wood burner kept the cabin plenty of warm for us. We enjoyed hiking on the trails, took the canoe out for a little trip up the river. Everything was pleasant, quiet and the perfect get away from it all. Brought our beagle with us and she enjoyed all the new smells and the freedom to roam around. Plenty of things to do if you are able to relax or enjoy the great outdoors. We brought our 14' fishing boat along didn't have any problems taking it on the two track to the cabin, we did have to take it slow and so it took us about 20 minutes but without the trailer/boat it was only like 10 minutes. Hoping to have another chance to come back next year :-)

U.P. Family Vacation

This summer’s family adventure was a weeklong vacation at Tiogo Fall’s cabin. I searched for a secluded location for family bonding time with our 4 children and found the perfect location away from busy life in Ann Arbor. My husband was very worried about this adventure, but ended up enjoying it the most. The first response by everyone upon arriving was the beautiful view. The cabin was rustic enough, yet provided the modern amenities needed to be very comfortable. Our two oldest teenagers was forced to take a break from texting and anything requiring a wireless connection. It was wonderful to play chess, do puzzles, eat, and relax. Our two younger daughters learned to play chess. We took a family canoe trip and ate lunch on the narrow river looking at one of the most beautiful sceneries. We ventured towards Houghton and found a beach and a very friendly restaurant called Carla’s. One of my husband’s favorite programs is Northern Exposure and that is what he got to experience. Cara made the reservations so easy that I didn’t start worrying about planning for it until 4 days before we were suppose to arrive. Taking a break from work, kids schedules, sports, obligations to retreat to a cabin and force everyone to slow down was wonderful. It has been almost a month since our visit: our family is closer and we adopted doing puzzles and chess regularly at home. Thank you for sharing your natures paradise. Leann, Cory, and kids

Our week at the Tioga Falls cabin was exactly what we had hoped for-and more. From making our initial arrangements with Cara (so helpful and friendly) to our final drive out the two-track (tears on my part), our experience was perfect. Online descriptions and photos of this property are entirely accurate, but can't come close to the feeling of being there. The cabin was beautiful, clean, and stocked with basic necessities, as well as equipment for adventuring around the property. We felt entirely at home; the owners are very generous to share not only their cabin and land but also their beautiful canoes, which we took full advantage of. The location is wonderful-real wilderness, entirely private, yet convenient to many day-trips in the Western U.P. We did a boat tour one day at Pictured Rocks, explored the Porcupine Mountains another day, and also took a day trip to Copper Harbor-all within a couple hours of the cabin. The most fun we had, though, were the days spent at the cabin, hiking the property, canoeing the rivers there, and playing in the waterfalls. Our six-year old son had as much if not more fun than we adults did-the section of the falls upstream from the cabin ("firepit trail") were the most kid-friendly, and he had a blast playing in the stream there. As the website states, this is not the place for a family with very young children (age six was fine) as the terrain is wild, steep and rocky, but otherwise I would wholeheartedly recommend this rental to anyone who wishes to enjoy seclusion surrounded by unspoiled nature. I definitely plan to return someday. My only concern is that we may have just had the perfect vacation, it will certainly be hard to top it.

My husband and I and our Brittany Spaniel, Ally stayed here over the 4th of July week. Very remote, private, and the views are amazing! The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean. The pictures online don't do it justice. The falls are right there in front of the cabin which offer amazing views and the sound of the falls is so relaxing. The screened in porch was so nice in the evenings or during the day when it was too hot to sit on the outdoor patio. They pretty much have everything you need there...just bring your food and drink and you will be all set! We loved all the marked trails through the woods, and the canoes that we could use. If you just want to get away from it all, this is the place for you! If you stayed at the cabin all week without leaving, you would never come across another person all week...total privacy which we loved!! We for sure hope to make it back there again next year!

My husband and I just returned from Tioga Falls cabin and we already miss the peace and tranquility. The waterfalls are wonderful. They changed every day and built in force throughout the week as a result of lots of rain (unfortunately). We didn't get the chance to really see the stars since it was cloudy every night. We really enjoyed the hiking trails around the cabin and appreciated the mud boots and walking sticks that were there for us to use. We took a trip to Munising on one day, saw the waterfalls in that area and went on the Pictured Rocks boat tour - nice but COLD! The one thing we would change is we would rent a four wheel drive vehicle. We just had our minivan and it worked ok but we would have felt better if we'd had something that sat up a little higher. If you're looking for a place to truly get away from it all, this is it! We highly recommend it!

For the past two summers our week at Tioga Falls has been the ideal escape. Here's a wonderfully remote verdant setting for hiking, reading and reflecting. There's abundant opportunity for viewing wildlife and amazing star gazing at night. The location also offers a good base camp for day trips to regional attractions. The open interior, well equipped kitchen, wood stove, deck and screened porch make it all the more comfortable and homelike. There are other lovely places in the woods but add the soothing rush of the falls and you have a one of a kind up north retreat.

What an excellent log cabin! Thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. My husband and our 13 year old twins loved it when we arrived in the UP to explore the region. The pictures don't do it justice. Great place for a family to relax and enjoy a spectacular setting. The fireplace warmed the place up just fine on a chilly June night. The screened-in porch is a perfect way to enjoy the waterfall early in the morning over coffee or late in the day for something stronger. Our kids totally enjoyed their 1st log–cabin-no-tv-no-wifi experience too. Our mini-van managed the 2-track road fine, thankfully. Would love to stay there again.

This vacation was a great getaway. I wanted to relax and not be around civilization for a few days. I wanted to see nature, hike, fish and have quiet time with my family. I was not disappointed with this retreat. We went the first week of June so the insects were'nt terrible. I reccommend taking extra bug spray though. The cabin was just as presented, if not nicer. Though we were WAY back in the woods we never felt unsafe at the cabin. Hiking , however, was exciting since we saw a moose and bear signs and tracks. When the lights go out at night in the cabin it is dark. I mean it is black until morning. I think my only problem was how quiet the cabin is at night. I really enjoyed this but if the others in your party are night owls you will hear EVERYTHING. I reccommend taking earplugs. I highly reccommend this vacation.
