Think of your very own private Lodge in the Sierras. That is the best way to describe this place.
COZY UP TO THE FIREPLACE WITH MORNING COFFEE or with an Irish Coffee after a long fun filled day.
Enjoy the EXPANSIVE OUTDOOR TERRACE surrounded by forest, PERFECT FOR A BBQ WHILE WATCHING THE SUNSET. Go sit on the LARGE SECOND FLOOR DECK over looking the forest and SIP A GLASS OF WINE.
A large kitchen, fully equiped down to the napkins and a even larger diningroom for family gatherings. The living room surrounds the fireplace and a game table sits under the big picture windows. It'a 2100sq ft of forest views. You will love the gracious feel of the cabin and the peace and quiet. ALL THIS AND A HORSESHOE PIT (HORSESHOES PROVIDED). Life is soooooo good.
A lot of thought went into the lay out of the upstairs, it's open and airy but really warm and inviting and because the livingroom is upstaris you feel like you are in the trees. Located downstairs are 4 ample sized bedrooms and two full baths. This was great planning on the part of the builder. The bedrooms are naturally cooler downstairs and better for sleeping.
But it's the peace and quiet that sets this area of the Sierra Mountains apart. If you have never been to Pinecrest you need to come. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" was filmed near by in Kennedy Meadows. In fact, as a little boy my father gave the starring actress, Ingrid Bergman, a ride around the lake in his boat. She paid him a whole quarter and he was thrilled.
In those days we camped, but we wished to some day have our own Pinecrest Lodge near the lake. Those who have stayed at the cabin tell us their kids and grandkids ask them "when are we going to our cabin in the trees again?".
We want you to relax, rest and enjoy the quiet but for those of you who are more adventurous, hiking, boating, fishing (they stock the lake w/ fish for you to catch) sailing and sunbathing are all near by at Pinecrest Lake during the summer. Kennedy Meadows offers horseback riding and fine rib dinner. Twain Hart Golf Course is just 15 minutes down the hill and in the winter Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is just 15 minutes up the hill. Go sledding at Leland Meadows, cross country skiing at Dodge Ridge and ice skating in Long Barn, all are close by. You can also just enjoy watching it snow outside from the comfort of the cabin but make sure you build at least one snowman before you leave and just outside off the terrace is the perfect slope for sledding.
At the end of the day you will be in front of the fireplace before you know it. The 4 bedrooms w/ luxurious down comforters offer you a restful sleep. We hope your stay is memorable.
Check in time is 3:00P.M. and check out time is no later than 11:00A.M. Cleaning deposit required.

The Lodge Near Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort
Year Purchased: 1999
Why the Owner Chose Pinecrest
When you have as many childhood memories as our children do at Pinecrest Lake there is no other place we want to be. About 1/2 hour into the drive up the hill we can feel life's busy (ness) fall away and we start to decompress. Everyone sleeps a little later and spends more time just talking over a cup of coffee. Now that our children are grown it's the perfect place to unwind and spend time with them in a familiar place.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
We love to start the day with morning coffee on the deck and plan the day. We are a very active family so we generally head out and spend the day hiking, boating or fishing. The idea of reading on the terrace would be great but we always think we might be missing out on something fun. We end the day with wine and dinner on the terrace watching for shooting stars or head over to Mia's for an amazing Italian meal. Back at the cabin it's nice to have 4 private bedrooms. We generally put all the little kids in one room. They are still trying to scare their sisters with bear noises.
Owner's Map of Pinecrest
Tom and I (Rochelle) grew up camping at Pinecrest Lake as kids. Camping with family and friends at Pinecrest Lake was our most favorite vacation. We would swim and hike all day long and at night we took flashlights and popcorn and went to the movies under the stars showing at the lake. Later when we were supposed to be asleep we would play tricks on our sisters making noises like a bear outside of their tents. It was all great fun. In 1999 we had the opportunity to purchase what looks very much like a Lodge. We jumped at the chance and have since enjoyed many family weekends at the cabin.

This cabin is always impeccably clean. The decor is very homey and mountainy. The internet pictures just don't do it justice! The owners are always a pleasure to work with and answer any questions you may have. This is is our 2nd time renting this cabin for our family get-a-ways. No snow this year, so we took advantage of hiking and exploring. We love the big fireplace in the evenings when we are cooking dinner and playing games as a family. Our family is creating wonderful memories at the "cabin in the snowy mountains" as our grandchildren refer to it. Thanks Tom and Rochelle for opening up your home for others to enjoy!

One of the most enjoyable times we have had as a family. Everyone had a great time, regardless of age. This cabin made us feel like we were in our own home. It is very well equiped, in a beautiful location, and was everything we expected and more. Our family of 11 enjoyed every minute we were there and hope to go again. I would recommend it to everyone.

The cabin was unbelievable and was represented in the photos exactly as we found it. A beautiful home at the end of a quiet street in a lovely setting. Our 4 grandchildren had a wonderful time in spite of the fact that there was NO snow! Granted that was a bit disappointing since the hill right outside the house would have been perfect for sledding had there been some, but we managed to entertain ourselves quite pleasantly with all the amenities provided and with Long Barn so close, we even made it there for ice skating. Rochelle is probably the most gracious and patient hostess I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her responses to my never ending stream of questions, and the helpful and clearly composed instructions all contributed to making the whole experience a delight. The whole family is looking forward to another visit.

We had rented cabins before for skiing, but this was definitely the coziest and best equipped one that we stayed in. We were 2 families, so the 4 bedrooms worked great for us. The beds are very comfortable so we slept great. The house is decorated beautifully, the newly remodeled kitchen has everything a cook would want and the heating and fire place warm up the house in an instant. Particularly cozy is the living room with its huge gas fireplace and nice couches and chairs around. We spent great evenings there playing games and enjoying the fire with another glass of wine. The owners are very helpful. She helped us locate a hotel that would let us use their internet, in case we would need to. It would be fun to visit again in summer and enjoy the outside of the house!

We had the most fabulous Thanksgiving ever at The Lodge! The owners worked so well with us and helped us with all our questions and concerns! The layout of the cabin was perfect! Mudroom and bedrooms downstairs and the living area upstairs with the fabulous fireplace! Snow was everywhere and the children had a blast. We will definitely be renting this cabin again!

The pictures of this home is what sold us but yet they do not do justice to this quaint mountain home. This home is clean and very well decorated. It is comfortable and the gas fireplace is the centerpiece of the great room. Before we arrived, the owner called to tell us that they just replaced the counter top with granite and a new gas cook top. We were the first renters to use the new kitchen. Everything works great. The kitchen is a pleasure to work in. We are looking forward to returning!

Ladies Mountain Retreat

We rented “The Lodge” for a "ladies" weekend retreat. Most of us had rented lovely cabins before, but we all agreed that this vacation home was exceptional in every way. I think we collectively said the word “wow” at least fifty times when first exploring the cabin. The layout was genius, with the bedrooms and bathrooms on the lower level and the living area above. If you wanted to take a nap or just have some quiet time in your room, you could just come downstairs. The bedrooms were the perfect size and so comfy, with soft wool blankets and down comforters. We really appreciated the decorative lamps for reading and little tables on both sides of the beds. The two clean, well stocked bathrooms suited our needs perfectly. We watched “chick flicks” together in the living room, which looks even better in person than in the photo. As someone else said, the decorative touches were perfect for a cabin, without being too over-the-top. The stone fireplace was awesome and we never felt too cold or too hot. We prepared delicious meals in the well appointed kitchen and ate at that gorgeous dining room table. We spent hours on the deck, enveloped by scented pines and cedars, playing board games, drinking coffee and doing what women do best … talking. We hiked at beautiful Pinecrest Lake and had a picnic by the river up the road at Kennedy Meadows ... but being together in the cabin was the best thing about our trip. If we had a question about anything, we called the owner and she was gracious and very helpful. There were brochures where you could find “things to do” and the magazines from the forties and fifties were a great touch. Usually when something seems too good to be true, it is. But “The Lodge” is an exception to that rule. It really is perfect. We felt like we were “out of the world” for four days and loved every minute of it.

We had a great time! The cabin was perfect. We had 7 adults, 3 children. It was clean and comfy. It looked just like the pictures but better if you could imagine that. We had hoped to catch the end of Indian summer and we did just that. (94 degrees in Oct) We went to Columbia and was robbed by bandits on the stagecoach, went panning for gold. One day we rented a party boat on pinecrest, the water was cold at first but you get used to it. It was just the way we remembered it from when we used to spend the summers there as children. The owner went out of her way to make it enjoyable for her guest. The decorations were so clever. Thanks for the memories!:)

My husband's family had a cabin in Pinecrest in the 1950s and 60's. This was an opportunity to return and show his children and grandchildren the area. We had 8 adults and 4 children, ages 10 months to 6 years; the cabin was the perfect size for sleeping and eating. We particularly enjoyed the large kitchen table and the big family room with enough seating for everyone to be comfortable. The cabin was very well decorated and very clean. Since my husband and I were celebrating our 70th birthdays it was fun to fine the issues of the National Geographic for the month and year we were born.

Having come to Pinecrest for nearly seventy years, and having "graduated" from the campgrounds, your cabin was just right for our family's summer vacation. All three adult children and their spouses were able to join us and create even more memories to be shared. The wonderful deck overlooking the forest was a wonderful place to nurse the first cup of morning coffees or tea, and the nicest place to relax after a day at the beach canoeing, or bicycling Sonora Pass. The spacious upstairs dining area with the nice, long table was the perfect spot for dinners, and the happy board games which always followed. The entire cabin was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We can't say enough about the comfortable beds; and having the two bathrooms made all the difference in the world. Your beautiful cabin was so restful - close enough to the lake, to Yosemite and Columbia, and far enough away from the bustle of campgrounds and highway noise that we felt far, far away. We will be back! Thanks so much for sharing with us your "home away from home."
