  Great location and very comfortable. We stayed at both La Vanda and the Penthouse and both are fantastic. We stayed for the first week of May and the mosquitoes were pretty friendly so bring plenty of repellent and pack citronella candles. Junior was extremely helpful and welcoming and made our stay even more enjoyable - thanks mate.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

  The place looked great on the website and was even better when we got there. The owners are well liked, the help fabulous. All in all, one of the best stays we have had in the entire Caribbean and we live there!

  La Vanda really is a pearl on the island of Anguilla. Situated very close to beautiful Shoal Bay, (less than a minute), in the middle of a stunning garden, your "little" home away from home. Very tranquil, peaceful and private, great location (best supermarket 5 mins drive, beach 1 min walk), nice restaurants nearby, which you shouldn't miss, but if you prefer cooking for yourself, a fully equipped kitchen is at your service. The house is fully equipped with anything you should need, the staff is friendly and always ready to assist if you need sg. I strongly recommend it for couples looking for a beautiful romantic getaway. If I ever go back to Anguilla (and of course there is a plan to..) I'm 100% sure that I'll choose La Vanda again.

  Where can you get your own private cottage surrounded by beautiful island flowers just a stone's throw from the beach, a ribbon of beach that stretches for a mile? at LaVanda Cottage on Shoal Bay ... the best value on the island! Every detail is taken care of and you will find a most friendly and helpful staff of assistants who are never imposing but there if you need them. The place is tastefully appointed, very comfortable little home away from home. The surroundings made for the perfect get-away. We love to explore new places and LaVanda is on our 'Keeper' list. We look forward to a return visit. Thanks for sharing your place with us! I encourage you to stay here. You will be delighted.

  This was our 13th trip to Anguilla, but a new place to stay. We picked it for it's wonderful location on Shoal Bay and it's proximity to Shoal Bay beach, our favorite. LaVanda did not disappoint. It is well cared for, clean, well equipped and sooooo comfortable for a couple. The bed was so comfy that I had trouble getting out of it in the morning. We were cared for by a maintenance person, gardener and housekeeper, who all magically appeared when you needed them, but otherwise, were totally out of site. The owner could not have been more helpful and cooperative up front. Although we know the island well and were planning to venture out of the East end for meals, we found plenty of wonderful restaurants that kept us there most of the time. Hibernia is one of our favorites, Cote d' Mer was excellent and quite charming, Mandearaman is great for lunch/cocktails, and the restaurant at Ku is also good for lunch. Writing this review is making me nostalgic for Anguilla, so I guess I better start planning our next trip to LaVanda. I will recommend it to anyone who likes independent living as opposed to a hotel where everything is done for you.

  The listing is exactly as described. It is a great cottage in a good, quiet location less than 1-2 minute stroll down a path to Shoal Bay East beach! The property has wonderfully maintained grounds and we felt quite safe there. The kitchen was adequate with all needed utensils, dishes, etc. Our only complaint is that many of the window screens let mesquito's inside. However, the property manager repaired one on the spot after we mentioned it. The staff who are around to maintain the grounds and for housekeeping are very respectful of privacy and do an excellent job. The owner was helpful with answering our questions prior to booking/arrival. One aspect is you do have a concierge service, which many VRBO's do not, who can help arrange taxi's, ferry services, dinner reservations and other details at your request. A cell phone is also a nice touch that is included to allow you to make local calls. Suggestions: If you plan on wanting to see other parts of the island, particularly the West end where many restaurants and beaches, etc are located, rent a car as the cottage is located on the Eastern end (taxi's are fairly expensive and not always available later at night). We recommend Gwen's reggae grill (2 minute walk away) on sunday afternoons/early evening for great authentic music. The Straw Hat restaurant with it's amazing ambiance is also a good pick. If you like great beach bars, go to The Dune Preserve on Rendevous Bay for a beer where local musician Bankie Banx plays excellent music, it's right on the water and unlike anywhere in the world! For snorkeling, take a tour with Junior's Glass Bottom Boat-he's the best!
