My son and I flew up from Huntington Beach, CA to catch a Seahawk and Mariner Game for week to surprise my mother on her 75th BD. What a surprise!!! We had an excellent time with each other and the family, I was great being so close to downtown stadiums and a 15 minute ride to moms house. Growing up in Seattle, this was the perfect location and comfortable setting we needed, easy to park, the beds....were so comfortable. Everything we needed, just like home and big enough for Dad and a teenager. Thanks for a great stay...we will be back!
Owner response:Hi Richard, I'm so glad you had a great time back in Seattle!!! Bring the whole family next time! All our Best, Ellen & Jim

My son and I stayed for two nights and it was a very comfortable and beautifully decorated place. The kitchen had everything we needed. We played scrabble and card at the kitchen table and most of all enjoyed the comfortable beds. It was great having shampoo and a hair dryer so we didn't have to travel with those. I would definitely stay there again. The backyard is breathtaking.
Owner response:Susan, I'm so glad you had everything you needed and wanted. We'd love to have you back the next time you're in Seattle!!! Thanks so much, Ellen & Jim

Urban Oasis was delightful for me, my wife and our 3 daughters. We were traveling for lots of days and our daughters settled in like it was home, unlike they do when we stay in a hotel. The place was super clean! Ellen (we never met Jim) was as helpful and welcoming as could be. Getting in and checking out were a total breeze. West Seattle is very convenient to Alki Beach which turned out to be one of our favorite spots in all of Seattle. And, Luna Cafe which is right around the corner has some of the best burgers and shakes we have ever had. I would recommend Urban Oasis unconditionally.
Owner response:Thanks Doug!! It was a delight to meet you and your family~please come back and visit us the next time you're in Seattle!! And I'd love to see your pics of Seattle! All My Best, Ellen

We absolutely loved our stay at Urban Oasis! My husband was initially wary of staying in a space other than a hotel, but was thrilled when he walked into the clean, beautiful spacious apartment. The neighborhood was nice and the location is convenient. We would highly recommend Urban Oasis to our family and friends and look forward to returning next time we visit the Seattle area. Thank you Ellen and Jim! Jennifer and Robert

We absolutely loved our stay at Urban Oasis! The deco is fabulous and lush. We had plenty of sleep accomodations for six of us. The grounds are groomed and peaceful. The neighborhood is quiet. Only 5-20 minute drive to Alki beach, downtown, the Zoo, the Locks. We much preferred this than staying in a hotel Downtown. We will definitley be coming back to stay at Urban Oasis!
Owner response:Thanks Christin, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! We look forward to having you all back to see more of Seattle and the Seahawks! See you soon! Ellen & Jim

Ellen and Jim provide an excellent home away from home experience. All photos are 'right on' and the location is perfect for a drive to Alki, or downtown. No car...no problem the bus is just a few blocks away for a short ride to downtown. We are already looking forward to a return trip. Linda and Doug, Scottsdale, AZ
Owner response:Thanks Linda & Doug, We loved having you here!!! We look forward to your return visit! Hopefully the weather in Arizona has now cooled off! See you soon! Ellen & Jim

As soon as you pull in to the driveway, Jim & Ellen make you feel welcome. They truly do have a Oasis! The grounds are beautiful and the apartment more than we could have hoped for. One of the highlights of our trip was just hanging out there and relaxing. A great location!
Owner response:Thanks Kelley, We so enjoyed meeting you and David! Come back as soon as you can and visit us!!! Warm Blessings, Ellen & Jim

From the minute we stepped out of the car and through the arbor, we were immediately transported to a tranquil oasis. From the beautifully manicured garden in full bloom, the sounds of the bird chirping in the trees and the serenity of the backyard stream, it was everything we had hoped for and more. The apartment is in a beautiful neighborhood, literally 10-15 minutes to the Pikes Place Market downtown, yet far enough away that it made for a wonderful respite from our sightseeing packed days. Jim and Ellen were such gracious hosts and made us feel right at home and as though we'd known them for years. Every little detail has been thought of, not a single thing left out. All you have to do is pack some clothes and your toothbrush...they even provided comfy slippers for us. Ellen has exquisite taste and we loved coming home in the evenings to enjoy a nice glass of wine or Prosecco (a lovely birthday present from Ellen and Jim) in front of the fireplace. My boyfriend loved his morning walks around the neighborhood or down at Alki Beach, also only 5 minutes away by car. Like I told Ellen on our departure, I had mixed feelings about telling anyone about this place....wanted to keep this little gem of a secret all to ourselves but they both deserve the kudos for the wonderful job they have done. We can't wait to be back to visit beautiful Seattle (what an extraordinary place it is) and return to this little piece of paradise.....a true urban oasis.
Owner response:Karin, My heart is so touched....thank you! It was a pure joy to meet both of you....we so look forward to having you back as soon as is possible! I am so glad that our love of building, design, colors and people shows through so beautifully! With Gratitude and love, Ellen & Jim

We had a great time in Seattle and the Urban Oasis just made it extra special. Jim and Ellen were so friendly and their home is clean, quiet, comfortable and had so many great extras that made it feel like home. There was lots of room to spread out, play board games, watch tv and do your laundry at the same time. It is close to downtown Seattle but far enough away to not have to worry about parking problems. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood just a couple of minutes from the freeway. We can't wait to go back.

Urban Oasis was a delightful place to stay! Jim & Ellen were great hosts & have done a marvelous job of creating a cozy & tastefully decorated space. It's a great location to get to Alki Beach or Pike Market with just a short drive. Our only regret was that we were so busy "seeing the sights" that we didn't get enough time to just relax here! As previous comments have mentioned, they did a great job of supplying all the little extras that make a stay here special!

Urban Oasis is aptly named as it is a calm and lovely oasis in the middle of the city. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood, with friendly neighbors who stopped to talk with my mother and I when we took a walk. The garden is gorgeous so bring your camera. The apartment is located within a short drive of Alki and the beach, and about a ten minute drive from downtown Seattle. The apartment itself is beautifully appointed with sumptuous towels and bedding, charming decor, two bedrooms, a sofa bed and air mattress. There are lots of books and games to enjoy, beach towels to take to the beach, a washer and dryer, a dishwasher if you feel like cooking, or lots of restaurants and a wonderful bakery along Alki beach. Ellen is such a warm and friendly host. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet her husband, but if Ellen is anything by which to judge, then Jim must be just as welcoming as Ellen. If I ever need to stay in Seattle again, I will definitely contact Ellen and Jim to stay there again.

Wonderful place to spend a few days in Seattle. Ellen and Jim are great people, and their house is absolutely lovely. Very well finished and included the 'little' things that some rental properties tend to forget (soaps, tea, etc). Excellent library, wonderful 'energy'. Fifteen minutes (max) to downtown. Close enough, but far enough away too. We will be back. Highly recommend this property.

What a wonderful place to stay! Good neighborhood, great renters! The owners truly have a passion for creating a hospitable vacation home. The decor is amazing; the kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies; and the living-room area has lots of reading materials, board games, and cable TV. Book early, this place fills up quick!

When I was travelling on business, I would go to specific cities repeatedly. I would have loved to have found a place like this in which to stay. Even luxury hotels have a sameness to them and get old. What wouldn't have gotten old is having my own private patio on which to enjoy morning coffee. Having a comfy couch and a roaring fire in front of which to have a glass of wine. Having a kitchen where I could prepare the kind of simple healthy meals I make for myself at home. Having a safe neighborhood of well kept houses in which to run in the mornings. I would recommend this Urban Oasis to anyone who needs a touch of home on the road!

When I was travelling for a living and would go back repeatedly to the same city, I would have loved to have found this place. Hotels get old. But having a cup of coffee outside on my own private garden patio in the morning? Settling in front of a roaring fire with food I cooked myself, a glass of wine and TIVO? Sitting in the window seat and reading a good book? Never gets old! This is such a lovely and homey place. I'd recommend it to anyone!
