Just 1 hour (50 miles) east of Portland, and 20 minutes west of Hood River, the interior of this eclectic 2,000 sq. ft. four-bedroom, two-bath home is bursting with personality.
Our house sits at the end of a private gravel road, perched on a flat lot that offers complete privacy and a stunning panoramic view of the Columbia Gorge, Columbia River, Bridge of the Gods and surrounding 3,000+ foot gorge ridgelines of Oregon and Washington.
Think of our home as your base camp for virtually any recreational activity you and your family and friends enjoy. Year-round recreational activities including hiking, biking, golf, whitewater rafting & kayaking, windsurfing & kiting, downhill & cross country skiing are within easy reach in any direction for the avid outdoor lover or young families with children.
Three of the northern Cascade mountains are within a 60 minute drive, including the famous Mt. St. Helens volcano and Mt. Adams in Washington, as well as Oregon’s Mt. Hood featuring winter snow sports and summer lakes and hiking.
Our home is less than 20 minutes from Oregon’s majestic Multnomah Falls, the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the nation, plummeting 620 feet, and 100 other waterfalls within the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area that are accessible via well-maintained trails of varying difficulty.
The historic town of Stevenson, Washington is just five minutes down the hill and features great restaurants, quaint shops and themed community festivals nearly every weekend between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Three natural hot springs spas, several championship golf courses, and numerous fine dining options are also less than 20 minutes away in Stevenson, Carson, or North Bonneville on the Washington side of the Gorge, or in Hood River on the Oregon side.
A budding wine industry has also taken root along both sides of the Gorge, with over 30 wineries located within 15-45 minutes from our home. Or take a Columbia River cruise on the historic Sternwheeler and experience the river like the early northwest settlers. From there, visit Bonneville Dam and watch the mighty fall and spring runs of Chinook and Steelhead salmon fighting their way upstream to spawn.
The options are simply endless.
After a day of outdoor activities, you can return to a soothing soak in the hot tub while you enjoy the panoramic Gorge view, enjoy a game of pool, DirectTV, lots of classic board games, cards, puzzles, a DVD/VHS player, and GameCube and Sega video game systems with an assortment of games, then relax with a good book or movie beside the woodstove. High-speed wireless Internet access is also available.
Three of the four bedrooms contain a queen bed and the fourth bedroom has two twins. There is also a twin available in an ante-room connected to the master bedroom. The layout is perfect for a large family or two families with kids.
The full kitchen has like-new appliances and cabinetry and a ceramic vegetable mosaic backsplash hand-made by the owners. A full laundry makes it easy to pack light for a long stay.
This unique home is a perfect place to spend time with family and friends in magical surroundings. Pets OK. Please no smoking.

This house worked pefectly for our group of 5 adults/1 black lab as we celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday. It was big enough for each of us to have our own space and could certainly hold many more. We did bring a lot of our own cooking gear, but the kitchen was eqiupped to handle a turkey dinner with all the fixings and had plenty of counterspace on which to prepare it all. With the dining/sitting room right there, those not cooking could still converse, play guitars, and be part of the group without getting in the way. We arrived during a cold, torrential downpour, but the gas fireplace in the pink room heated up the main rooms pretty quickly. Each room has its own source of heat, so we could adjust it to our personal comfort zones for sleeping. We had the most fun in the other common rooms, with a pool tournament, a table perfect for jigsaw puzzles, and comfy couches on which to watch movies. We bbq'd on the deck outside and also roasted marshmallows at the fire pit while toasting the beautiful sunset. Even our lab found some friends in neighbor dogs Rocky and Odie, who appear scary at first but are quite well trained and very lovable. They came over every chance they could get, and the 3 dogs had a great time frolicing in the enormous yard. Some young deer also visited us. The town of Stevenson is pretty small and most places were closed for the holiday. But, the Bridge of the Gods, brightly decorated for the holidays on the Oregon side, provided quick access to Hood River and any other nearby towns you might want to visit. There is a minimal toll each way. On the Washington side, there are lots of nearby places to hike. The scenic drive is amazing. Many Lewis & Clark historical markers. For shoppers heading west from I-5 to Stevenson, you will come across the Pendleton Outlet Mall, which is quite the deal even without the holiday sales. This house is clean, comfy, has everything you need, and we highly recommend it. It is full of color and life. The mosaics are unique. The paintings in the pink room look like originals, maybe by the owners?, and they fit perfectly with the setting. Ron was very helpful, immmediately answering any questions and even providing a history of how the house (2 houses originally) got there. Next time we stay, we will ask if we are allowed to use the art supplies in the studio. We were dying to do some mosaics. The house can't help but inspire your artistic side!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

My friends and I stayed at this home over a weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday. I could not have imagined a more perfect place for such an occassion! It's proximity to Portland was convenient while still allowing us to feel like we were away in the clouds, hills and forest. Situated above Stevenson, WA, the home has stellar views of the Columbia River Gorge. Rain and shifting clouds only made the view from the huge windows and hot tub more dramatic. Speaking of the hot tub (essential in my hunts for rental homes), this one was the most spacious, and reliable I've ever enjoyed. There was plenty of room for people to sleep in beds, two inviting living areas (each with a wood or gas-burning stove), and thoughtful touches throughout the home. Another must-have for us is that the rental home is dog-friendly. Our pooch had a ball! There is plenty of room for dogs to explore the huge lawn and property. The icing on the cake was that the owners are easy going, responsive wanted us to have a great stay as much as we did. THANK YOU! I highly recommend taking some time to enjoy this gem in the gorge!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful time staying in this little house for a weekend. It is very cute in a fun, eclectic kind of way. A lot of the decor is clearly homemade with love. The house is well stocked with everything we needed and extremely comfortable. We had 3 couples, 3 individual adults, a toddler and a baby, and everyone had a place to sleep without feeling like we were on top of each other. The house is also well set up for kiddos, with kids books, kids movies, toys, games, and a swing set outside. The most amazing thing is the VIEW!!!! From the deck/hot tub/fire pit, you look out over the Columbia Gorge/Stevenson. It is stunning. We were in town to go to a wedding at Maple Leaf Events, and this house was just 3 minutes up the hill! The house is very close to town - just 5 minutes up the hill from Stevenson. I had read reviews of other places where train noise was mentioned, and this house is far enough up the hill that there is very little train noise other than the quaint train horn in the background- not enough to bother your sleep. Because we were in town for a wedding we didn't get much of a chance to enjoy the area, but the house is quite close to tons of outdoor adventures, including hiking, hot springs, water activities on the river, etc. Stevenson is beautiful. We all wished we could stay for another week. The owner Ron was great to work with and super responsive. You can tell he and his family love their house and love sharing it with people. By the end of the weekend we were all planning our next trip - We can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Cozy, secluded house in Stevenson with stunning views over looking the mountain and river. House had everything you could need and plenty of space both inside and outside. The only down fall was there is a great BBQ, but the propane tank was empty. Could have gone to fill it in Stevenson (which is a very cute town), but were too cozy in the house to leave. I would highly recommend vacation rental.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family stayed at the property for our Christmas gathering this year. The house is very cozy, warm, and the beds are all comfy! The rooms are all spacious and accomodated the six of us well. The view from every window in stunning! It is close to grocery stores and outdoor activities... the boys went cross country skiing and the girls all went to Csarson Hot Springs for a massage and bath!!!! I would recommend this house to family and friends, and to YOU!! It has a large yard with play area for children. ( it was snowing hard during our stay, so we built a massive snowman)! We will use this property again for sure. The owners are easy to reach and very helpful!! Thanks Ron.....Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family of four, another family of three, plus one more couple stayed in this Wonderful home when we visited for a wedding in Stevenson. The view is breathtaking and can be seen from nearly every room in the house thanks to the floor to ceiling windows! This is a wonderful place for kids to stay and offers enough to do that when we did have day off from the wedding festivities, we just hung around the house all day. The owners have put a lot of care and creative energy into this home. They are very easy to rent from and proved to be great hosts! Thanks! We'll be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family had tried and tried to plan a family gathering, but just couldn't find the right place that would work out for everyone until we found this great place in Stevenson, WA. It was perfect for all of us. There was something for everyone there. Great roomy house with just enough beds for all, a beautiful yard with play ground for kids, old and young, and of course the fire-pit in the back for great sunsets and of course, SMORES... We had a great time and look forward to returning later in the summer. Thanks Ron & SueRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend, and really enjoyed ourselves! The house is very spacious and comfortable, and the artwork is great! It was a rainy weekend, but we still had a campfire and sat in the hot tub. We had a really fun time exploring the Columbia Gorge area, going to several wineries and a couple of brew pubs! Thank you for sharing your home with us! We hope to return soon, and maybe bring some friends, since there is plenty of room!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
