Perfect place to host a family get together. We had 9 adults and 9 children and never felt crowded. The fire pit and the grounds were large and great for entertainment. Bring your croquet set or bocci balls because there is plenty of room. The lake is awesome with little traffic! We rented a pontoon and sometimes it felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. It is very close to Sleeping Bear Dunes and all the Lake Michigan Beaches. Jeff (our host) was very gracious and helpful. Although there is no air conditioning, we never missed it and that was during 90+ days.

The Platte Lake Lodge was perfect for our summer family vacation. The separate buildings (lodge, loft & bunkhouse) worked extremely well for accommodating our family's various needs. (8 adults, 3 children and 1 dog) The "extras" (fire pit, wooden lawn furniture, boat hoist, kayaks) included in this rental were greatly appreciated and used daily. As were the two bathrooms. Jeff was very friendly and helpful - a wonderful host. And upon our arrival, how nice it was to see that the pictures posted on his vrbo listing were truly what you got! This is a beautiful place to spend time with loved ones.

We spent a fantastic 4th of July week at the Platte Lake Lodge. Jeff was an exceptional host. The property exceeded all our expectations. The furnishings (especially the beds) were comfortable and perfect for relaxing after a long day kayaking on Platte Lake, tubing on the river or going to the beach at Lake Michigan (which is such short drive away). The kitchen is well equipped and had every dish/pot/pan that we could need though we loved using the charcoal barbeque too. The ceiling fans kept all the rooms cool in spite of the high temperatures. The outdoor setup is even better. The fire pit is truly fantastic and the log furniture is comfortable. I would recommend the Platte Lake Lodge to everyone! A must-see!

We absolutely loved our lake vacation at Platte Lake Lodge! It was exactly what we wanted for this trip and the property was just what we expected! Jeff was so welcoming and a great resource. Everything was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Two bathrooms worked out great for our large group and the kitchen had just about everything we needed. We absolutely loved being right on the lake and as promised the sunsets were spectacular! The fire pit was so much fun. The lake is picture perfect and the kayaks were well used! We would definitely recommend Platte Lake Lodge to anyone and everyone. It was a great lake vacation with so many things in the area to see and do. Thank you Jeff for your wonderful hospitality!!

My family has been traveling to Northern Michigan every summer, since I can remember. We have made many trips down the Platte River, spent countless hours fishing, and made par on every golf course around. The Platte Lake Lodge gave us the opportunity to experience all of our favorite activities, a private setting to enjoy family time, and a convenient location. The towns of Beulah, Honor, and Interlochen are only a short drive away. Also the Crystal Mountain resort (only a short drive from the Lodge) offers excellent golf, hiking, and shopping. Many memories were made relaxing at the Platte Lake Lodge as a family. We spent every night (rain or shine) outside by the fire telling stories, roasting marshmallows, and listening to the loons in the distance. The appliances in the Lodge are updated and well maintained. For people who enjoy music, there is a stereo system with external speakers mounted near the back porch so that you can listen to music while relaxing outdoors. My families trip to the Platte Lake Lodge gave us the opportunity to truly relax and enjoy Northern Michigan. We were impressed with the features and facilities offered, also the friendliness and courtesy of the owners made my family feel right at home. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
Owner response:Thank you everyone. It was a pleasure having you all as our guests.

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at the Platte Lake Lodge. The owner has added many touches to the main cottage, loft and guest house to make them more comfortable such as lighted walkways for your late nite trips to the loo (bathrooms - main house only) Ipod charger/alarmclock radios in each bedroom, and new appliances in the kitchen including a fridge with filtered ice and water in the door. We did miss not having a dishwasher and washer/dryer with such a large group however. The firepit is the biggest and best I've ever seen. This is a very casual place where you can relax, on a dirt road, quiet, (we saw loons and swans) and I would recomment it to large groups with pets.
Owner response:Thank you for choosing The Platte Lake Lodge for your family' s vacation. If all goes as planned we should have a dishwasher in the kitchen before next spring. Thank you again for being great guests.

Our group had a wonderful time staying at this quaint home on Platte Lake. We got up to a beautiful sunrise and then golfed at one of the numerous golf courses nearby. The afternoon was spent relaxing and boating on Platte Lake. In the evening we lit a fire in the fire pit. The house was clean and well-maintained. We are looking forward to staying again next year!

We stayed here over the Fourth of July and the week after. Great cottage, very clean, comfortable beds and linens. Great for large groups. Sunsets amazing, close to great restaurants, ice cream and beaches. Lake is clear and clean. Would stay again and highly recommend to others.

We had a wonderful week on Platte Lake. The property is well-described, the photos do it justice: this is a charming house right on a beautiful, serene lake, with a beautiful and usable yard (volleyball, croquet). The house was just right: well-maintained and clean and comfortable, but not fancy or fussy. We had a fire every night in the fire pit, which is surrounded by Adirondack furniture, and served as the 'living room' - adults and teenagers were quite happy to settle in here. The owner was very helpful and solicitous, and made sure we had everything we needed. The garage loft, with 3 queen beds, was perfect for the 4 teenagers. This is a peaceful, out of the way locale for a relaxing vacation: Big Platte Lake was wonderful to swim and kayak in, and the location - 7 miles from one of the best beaches in the world (Platte River) on Lake Michigan - is perfect. 5 miles into Beulah/Benzonia for groceries, and a great location for a family wanting to be near, but not in, TC, or for families leaving or picking up campers from Interlochen. I hope we can arrange to return next year! Highly recommended.

Our family reunion was a great success. Everyone is still talking about it as we plan for next year at the same location. The spaciousness of the grounds made it perfect for all the activities we had planned. From the open area for volleyball and bocci ball to the sandy beach area for the young children to play. The owner was great in helping us arrange for pickups at the airport to renting a pontoon boat for our stay. The children loved the privacy from the adults in the loft with all those beds and a place for them to play their games on the large screen TV. The kayaks were a fun way to start the days on a lake that was huge and seemed like we had it to ourselves everyday. The night wasn't complete without it ending at the beautiful stone fire pit where we all sat around reminiscing about the past and the fun we had during the day. It was great being able to stop by a couple months earlier than our stay to meet the owner and have a tour of the place. The owner's love for this vacation spot shines through with his knowledge of the area and the incredible amount of information that he's made available on the Platte Lake Lodge web site. We used this site as our guide to the activities we participated in around the area. The complete listing of restaurants was fantastic. Well, I could go on forever. I think anyone that chooses to stay here won't be disappointed. If anything, you will be pleasantly surprised at how much more there is to do and see. I can't wait to get back!

We have travelled extensively and what a treat to find such a gem just a few hours from our home in Michigan. This vacation cabin is extremely comfortable and restful and happens to be located on an incredibly beautiful private lake with all the watersports you might seek. We enjoyed golf at several world-class courses in the area (challenging!) as well as the music and food at and around nearby Interlochen. Evenings at the lakeside firepit are a MUST - not since our trip to remote locations in Australia have we seen so many stars! I can't wait to return in the winter to ski, skate and fish!

A charming cabin with wonderful views of the lake. Very clean and well taken care of. Lovely restaurants in town if you don't feel like cooking. However, you may not want to go out. Great old fashioned drive-in just down the road! I would definately come back again & highly recommend this property to my friends & relatives.

Last summer we stayed and had a really nice time. Enjoyed the cabin and the property. The sandy beach and lake front were fun for our 4 year old son. We went to the Sleeping Bear Dunes Lakeshore park, Crystal Mountain pool for the day, Glen Arbor for dinner and Frankfort for Ice Cream. The campfire at the end of the day was nice too. My son often asks when are we going back to "Beulah Camp"?
