My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights, with our 2 year old and had a very pleasant time. We found the home very spacious with enjoyable fireplaces inside, on the deck, and outside in the yard. Close to downtown, Grove Park Inn for the Gingerbread Houses during Christmas time, and minutes away from Chimney Rock Park.Owner response: So many things to do in the Asheville area and we are located close to many including the Blue Ridge Parkway and Lake Lure. Thanks fo the nice reviews!

Our expectations were exceeded when we rented this home. It is absolutely beautiful! We came to Asheville to go hiking in the mountains (which happened to be within minutes of this home). We did plenty of hiking, and were very content coming back in the evenings. We spent time relaxing and eating every meal on the huge deck (with the hummingbirds) and view of the mountains. This home is not only beautifully decorated, it has comfortable beds, and a well-equipped kitchen. We don't typically go back to places we have already visited, but in this case we will probably make an exception. Liz was very helpful. Don't pass this one up. Loved it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This is our "home" when we come to visit our son at a nearby school. We make a year's worth of reservations at one time and truly look forward to our visits. Everything is always clean, lovingly furnished and comfortable beds. Liz and Tony are great, very accommodating and helpful. You won't go wrong staying here, it's just great!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We love having them every year! Thanks again! Liz & Tony

We really enjoyed having all the comforts of home while looking out over the WNC mountains. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast on the deck. It is located near other homes but it still felt private. While it felt rural it was only 20 minutes from Downtown Asheville. The owners provided good restaurant recommendations; in spite of the name we really liked Nachos & Beer. They were also helpful when we had a car problem. We will probably try to stay hear again on our next visit to Asheville.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks! We always love to see our repeat guests!

This is such a beautiful spot, you may not want to leave the deck! We appreciated the quiet, the privacy, and the closeness to Asheville and food shopping. Our family has some special needs and Liz was helpful and accommodating. We loved seeing raccoons, rabbits, and many varieties of birds we don't have at home. We were fortunate to sit on the deck and see July 4th fireworks in the valley- an unusual experience to be looking down at fireworks, but what a great display! Although this is the bottom portion of the owners' residence, it is completely separate and private, except for the shared clothes washer and dryer. The notebook containing pertinent local information and directions was very helpful to us. Food shopping in Fairview was an easy five minutes away and the infrared grill on the deck made vacation cooking so easy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Wow! Thanks for the review! We so loved having wonderful families as guests. We try to make staying at Sunset Ridge a nice vacation experience. Many of our guests also visit for business and since we are so close to downtown it makes it enjoyable too. Because the house is high the first level has distant mountain views. You can also see about 5 towns of fireworks and private ones which are incredible! It was a great 4th of July that went on for three days! Check out Trout Lilly natural food store that has very fresh seafood brought in from the coast on Fridays & Sat. and Troyers Amish food store that has a great Deli and bakery. Yum!

Our family of four (including our two grown children) stayed in this lovely home for 4 nights. The home was clean and well equipped. There was also a gas fireplace in the living room along with many other nice touches. We really enjoyed sitting out on the huge deck watching the sun go down and chatting into the evening. The deck has a large table and chairs so that is where we took all our meals. The owners had also laid out wood ready to go for a campfire in the beautifully tended yard and gardens. On our last night we toasted marshmallows and made smores and watched fireflys.. It was so much fun. The home is secluded but we found it a good location to use as home base to go to downtown Asheville, visit the Biltmore, take mountain drives and to take the kids white water rafting and zip-lining. The owners provide a binder with all types of useful information which we utilized and also had some discount tickets for the Biltmore! I very much recommend staying at the gem in the mountains.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We try to offer as much as possible to make sure our guests have a memorable vacation and are comfortable while they are here! Thanks!
