The apartment is in a secure building that is in a nice part of the city. We felt safe walking around. There are restaurants, supermarkets and a very nice bakery close by. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable for 4 adults and nicely decorated. The kitchen is also well equipped and the Internet worked well. I would highly recommend this apartment for those visiting Quito. I wished we were staying for a couple more days.

Fantastic Apartment in Quito!

This is a beautiful apartment with a great location! My husband and I, along with my parents, stayed for a week after our Galapagos trip and absolutely loved the comfort the apartment provided. The 24hr security was a nice feature and even with the language barrier (we don't speak Spanish) they were able to communicate well enough that we felt comfortable. Edgar was very friendly and helpful; he called us at the apartment to introduce himself and give us some tips and suggestions for what to see in Quito. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot, the whole apartment was very clean; we really felt like we were living in luxury! The location was also excellent. Being so close to the mall and the large grocery store was quite convenient. It was also a short taxi ride to just about everywhere we needed to go. We even walked to La Mariscal one day; though it was a long walk, it was nice. The park is also beautiful and at the end of the park, near the mall is the first stop of the hop-on hop-off city bus tour which was handy. Overall we were very impressed with the apartment and would highly recommend it. If we ever travel to Quito in the future, we'd be happy to stay here again!

Best Place to stay in Quito!

My husband and I and our 3 year old daughter just returned from a 4 night stay in Edgar’s fantastic apartment in Quito. We were so impressed with the apartment and how Edgar has made it a very welcoming home away from home for travelers. We found the apartment to be very luxurious and were impressed by the U.S. phone line, flat screen cable TVs, fine linens, on-demand hot water with excellent pressure (the best showers I’ve had in my 15 years traveling to Ecuador!) and the onsite playground. All of these amenities can be hard to come by in Ecuador. The location is phenomenal, in my favorite part of the city. You are steps away from great restaurants, my favorite Corfu ice cream, Quicentro mall, Parque Carolina and all of the public transportation. It is on a relatively busy street but not a main street and being on the 11th floor made it quieter and private. There are great city and mountain views from the windows. It is very safe as the building is locked with a 24 hour guard and your key only lets you get off on your own level. I highly recommend staying at this apartment whether you are a first time traveler to Ecuador or a seasoned traveler!

My stay at Edgar's amazing condo was nothing short of breathtaking. The views of the mountains and the downtown area from the master bedroom were amazing. The location of the condo was as good as you could get and better than you could imagine. When I return to Quito, Edgar's place will be the ONLY place I'll stay. Besides the amazing accomodations, Edgar was the best host. He is very attentive and has excellent advice/tips. He is more than accomodating.

Pleasant stay to start our new life in Quito

We lived in this apartment for 3 weeks upon our arrival in Quito. The apartment is very pleasant with all the conveniences and the district is also pleasant. Ideally situated in the modern district of Quito, you can go shopping in the shopping mall (Quicentro) situated in 5 minutes walking, walk in the park of the Carolina (few minutes) or take a drink at the lobby bar of the Sheraton ... To go to the historic center, you can take the ECOVIA (public transport) or one of the numerous taxis (cheap prices). We so liked the district that now that we live almost in front of the building.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Very nice apartment in a the best part of town. All amenities were just as advertised. Many restaurants and shopping within walking distance. I Did not meet the owner while I was there but the manager was very graceful and handled any issues that came up. There were very few. I would recommend this apartment to any one traveling to Quito for the first time and want a comfortable, safe and clean place to stay. I will definately want to use it on my next stay.

It was the second time that we rented this apartment, and it couldn't have been better. Apartment was clean, comfortable, secure & very well located. Edgar's willingness to help me during an especially difficult time is something I'll never forget. His thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.

Beautiful Stay

This is a beautiful apartment in the heart of Quito's Business District. It has all the amenities needed to enjoy a short or a long stay as deemed necessary. We arrived late Monday evening. We were very tired after a very long day. Upon Arrival wew were greated by the security guard who greeted us with the beautiful Ecuadorian welcome (Bien Vinidos) and smile. He had the key to the apartment ready to be delivered. He quickly started helping us to get the luggage into the apartment building. The apartment was very cozy and beautiful. The furnishings are of very nice quality and the decor is very elegantly presented. We loved the place. The property manager and her son were as wonderful as the owner of the apartment told me they would be. Any time we needed any help with anything, they were eager and willing to help. They shined the night before we were ready to head back to the U.S. My 88 mother in law got very ill with bronchities and we didn't know whether we will be able to leave the next day or not. Immediatley upon hearing our story, they helped by securing thart her medication was delivered to us by the pharmacy, they also made sure that we had an alternative accommodation the next day if needed. Those people were kind, and extremely helpful. I will be returning to Quito in the next couple of years. I will definately stay in this apartment at any given time. It is close to everything. Whithin walking distance you will find "Quicentro" which is a very large upscale shopping mall with great European shops like Zara of Spain. This mall was unbelievable. You will find everything you can think of. In the opposite direction you will find Mega Maxi grocery store with all kind of food and beverage and everything else. Thank you Quito and thanks to Edgar and his family for making our stay in their aprartment truly a stay in a "Home awayb from home place." We will be back

Wonderful apartment in Quito!!

This review is a little late but nonetheless I wanted to still share my thoughts about this wonderful apartment. My husband and I stayed at Edgar's condo in mid May for 5 days prior to our cruise to the Galapagos. The condo is incredibly clean and beautifully furnished. It is also very central. It is within walking distance to the mall, the grocery store (Mega Maxi) or to a number of restaurants in the area which are all very well priced. Edgar was always prompt to reply and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend this to place to anyone staying in Quito. A great and economical alternative to a hotel. Thanks Edgar for opening your place to us!

We have stayed in rental apartments all over the world. This was the best equipped and most tastefully decorated place we have rented. We would have rented it for another week if it wasn't already booked. It is really better than what you see in the pictures!

A home away from home

We arrive very late on a Thursday night, only to have the key waiting for us with the front desk doorman.. The apartment was everything the pictures and reviews said it would be and more..as the second bedroom had a queen bed, not a futon. With the MegaMaxi and other local stores, including the wonderful bakery Cyrano's within a block and a half, made it all the better. It was great being able to have breakfast and snacks in our own place..as well as a pizza delivery night on Easter when everything was closed. We were in Quito visiting our daughter who was studying a the Universidad San Francisco (USFAQ) for the semester. Even with leaving the apartment for a three night trip to Cuenca, it was less expensive and much more comfortable than staying in a hotel and it was a great feeling coming "home" after that short trip.

As writers for InternationalLiving.com, my husband and I travel to Quito often. This time we decided to stay for a week. Looking for maximum comfort, we opted to stay in Edgar's lovely apartment. It is now our favorite place to stay in Quito -- in the best possible location and with every amenity you could possibly want right at your fingertips. Great restaurants, world-class shopping, a gorgeous city park...and the neighborhood is city chic and safe. You will love your stay here as we did.

Ideal Quito Apartment

My wife and I stayed in the apartment July 14 to July 30. We arrived in Quito around 11 pm and a short taxi ride (15 minutes)) found us at the apartment. The guard on duty gave us our key and we rode the elevator to our apartment. It was a great apartment!!! The apartment was spotless, and there were plenty of linens and towels. We were not lacking for cooking utensils or dishes. We had an issue with the cable TV and internet service. I notified Marguerite, the property manager, and she went to work on the problem. Edgar even called from New York to see if everything was fixed. It turned out to be a faulty modem so the cable company came out and replaced it. The apartment could not be in a better location. A nice mall, the Qui Centro, and a huge grocery store, Mega Maxi, are an easy walk from the apartment. A nice park is 2 blocks from the apartment. We had a terrific vacation and would definitely stay here again.

Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

A Beautiful Condo Apartment in Quito North

We rented this beautiful condo apartment from September 6, 2010 to September 24, 2010 and it definitely contributed to our wonderful vacation in Quito, Ecuador. The apartment was everything that the website promised and more. It is very well furnished and equipped including 24/7 security. From the master bedroom there is a gorgeous view of the Pichincha Volcano to the west and it is such a memorable sight when the sun rises on clear mornings. The location of the apartment is perfect, close to grocery stores, shopping centers, good restaurants, and La Parque de la Carolina. This park is a "must see", if you visit the area. We never felt unsafe at any time during our visit. The owner is very helpful during the planning stage and flexible with accommodating reasonable requests. The on-site agent is also very pleasant and helpful during check in and check out activities. We would certainly recommend this property to friends and relatives.

This apartment is in the Carolina Park District with major malls and troile (trolley) access walking distance. 24 hour doorman provides the comfort of security and recommendations for options. This is a high rise building in the upscale area (not over the mountain in the newest area) but easy access to the historic district by inexpensive cab ride. Beautifully appointed with all amenities to cook (great selection of dishes and utensils and appliances) and sleep-(nice high quality sheets and comfortable beds) Hot water never and issue and all electricity was on This provided us with a base to explore- and after two days in teena rafting and hiking the necessary laundry facilities as everything gets wet and dirty Kids appreciated the dvd/ electronic selection/ internet too For those who do not want to be stuffed into an expensive not so great hotel room (especially with a family) being able to explore- find bakeries- easy breakfast and dinners (to be fair the eateries nearby were great so not needed) apartment rentals are much easier My only recommendation would be to place a book for sites/ guides etc- while we had prepared in advance, if there was the recommendation of a company who "knew" the apartment guests and attended to them upon request for a fee this might have been helpful

WOW! This was our first impression as we walked in the door!!! We have traveled a lot and stayed in nice rentals found online, but this is the best place every. Anyone wanting to stay in Quito for a week or more, you have found it! Edgar is a great person to deal with and very helpful with everything. Would rent again in a NY minute (no I'm not from NY), but you won't find a better place to stay. Jim&Nancy from Washngton

Amazing is the best word to describe this apartment. Amazing because of it's views, location, apartment decor... I mean the list just goes on and on. But not only was the apartment amazing, so was the city. Quito is a marvelous city just waiting for people to explore it. We had a wonderful stay and would jump at the chance to return.

Great location. This well furnished apartment convenient to shopping, restaurants and a $3 cab ride to downtown Quito. Front desk very helpful. Got to try Cyrano bakery around the corner on Portugal. The top floor deck has great view of surrounding Quito. Why stay at a hotel?

The best location in Quito, without doubt. Grocery, shopping, and the best restaurants all within easy walking distance. $3 or less cab fare to most tourist attractios. Lovely apartment with all the amenities; even better than the owner describes. Lovely, professional ownership and management. There is no reason to spend much more in a hotel, which will not have the same space, or a kitchen, or a washer and dryer, and cost much more. Great place for a couple, or a family of four. Has 2 great TVs, DVD player, deluxe TV packages including some Miami stations, fully equipped kitchen by US standards, first rate security building in safest part of the city. I am a very experienced renter of foreign apartments and the set up is top notch, you will be happy you took this apartment rather than a hotel. My wife and I just finished a 2-month stay in this brand new beautiful 2BR 3BA high-rise apartment, located in the very safe upscale premier Carolina Park neighborhood, filled with high-end restaurants and bars. It is only 2 blocks from the MegaMaxi Grocery/Dept. store (the largest in Quito), and only 2 blocks from the main red-line Trolle. The apartment is furnished with top-quality furniture, comfortable beds with high thread count sheets, unlimited central hot water so you can enjoy a nice shower! It also has two large flat-screen Plasma TV’s with cable, and broadband internet! Kitchen is well equipped so you can cook full meals if you wish. The NY owner and his local Rep. (his cousin), are very nice and always helpful if you need assistance. Would definately recommend for short or longer stays.
