Welcome to our family getaway. Our cabin holds a special place in our hearts. It's where we gather to enjoy each others company, play games, hike, ski, build forts, spend the day at the lake, or just relax on the deck reading. Our children love it here, as do we. Our stress disappears the second we drive into this little town. Our memories are plenty, which is why we only rent it to those who will treat with kindness.
Our cabin backs to a seasonal stream and the National Forest. It's private and kid friendly with hiking trails, cross country skiing, sledding etc. right outside the front door.
Green Valley Lake (located between Lake Arrowhead & Big Bear in the San Bernardino Mountains) has been called "The best kept secret on the mountain." This charming town sits at 7200 in elevation and is only an 80 minute drive from the Los Angeles area. It offers all the amenities one needs to enjoy the mountain experience in both the winter and summer months.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
We love living in the Los Angeles area and always enjoy what big metropolitan cities have to offer. After our two wonderful, very energetic kids came along, we decided we wanted to expose them to the great outdoors, the freedom of old fashioned play, the serenity of being away from all the hustle of every day city life and it's commitments. We wanted to create memories that one day they would share with their children. A place that later in life would always bring them back to "The Cabin." Thus began our journey to find the perfect spot. We love hiking, skiing, kayaking, and all the things we don't get to do in the city. Musicians in our former pre-kid life, we enjoy the occasional late night jam with friends and spending our time with our family.
Why the Owner Chose Green Valley Lake
We decided we wanted a vacation spot that was easy to get too and in close proximity so that we could go often, and return quickly if we needed too. It takes us 1 hour 15 minutes to get to our cabin from our house. After exploring every little city in the San Bernardino Mountains, we finally made a turn on a little windy street which led us into the quaint picturesque town of Green Valley Lake. We knew when we drove into town that this was the place. We wanted a location where we did not have to get in the car to do things. In G.V.L. you can walk or ride your bike everywhere. The town is not congested with traffic and is extremely kid friendly. It sits at 7200 in elevation is is the first to get snow and the last to lose it. We also wanted a vacation home that had something to do all year round so that we could get the most out of it. Green Valley Lake is a year round vacation spot.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Green Valley Lake (also referred to as "The Best Kept Secret on the Mountain)is exactly that. Nestled in a valley surrounded by National Forest at 7200 in elevation, this town is a throw back to a simpler time. The adorable Main Street has a great little grocery store, malt shop and a little pizza joint where you can listen to local musicians play Celtic music and drink a cold pitcher of beer. Across the street sits a picture perfect lake lined with fishermen, colorful canoes, a swimming beach (lifeguards included,) a kids swimming area, complete with a playground. Everything is within walking distance. We love that we don't have to get in the car if we don't want to,(which is not the case in most mountain locations) We ride our bikes to the grocery store and to the lake and literally walk out our front door to some of the best hiking trails on the mountain. The best feature about this location is that it is a year round resort. There is always something to do. Summers at the lake are awesome. Winter months-beautiful. Perfect snow for sledding, cross country skiing and snow shoeing all a step out the front door. The really special feature of this town, which we have not found anywhere else, is the community. The full timer's in G.V.L. are the livelihood of this town. They care and are extremely active in keeping this place dreamy. Four times a year the town hosts an "Artisans Tour". A town map, which you pick up from the general store, guides you to the cabins of local artists where you can check out their work. You can look at or purchase everything from incredible pottery, paintings, candles, jewelry, hand made quilts, rustic furniture and more. Every holiday, the Women's Club plans great family events like Christmas Caroling in the snow, Tree lighting ceremony, 4th of July old fashioned parade down Main Street, Memorial Day Water Festival. It's pretty incredible. This place feels like you have gone back in time...and it is well worth the trip!

My family has had the opportunity to stay at this lovely cabin twice, once in the summer and once in the winter. It is so charming, warm and comfortable. It's close to everything, including the adorable little town of GVL. We cannot wait to go again and again.

Littell lodge is a magical wonderland. This charming cabin is pure escapism. Whether you want to hide away and warm your bones by the fire, or explore the gorgeous outdoors, this place has it all. The cabin itself is immpeccably kept and utterly cozy. You feel instantly at home and safe in this well organized and clean environment. The quaint lake town offers canoeing and all manner of Summer sports and the in the Winter the snow makes this sleepy town something out of a fairy tale. I look forward to many return trips. We first rented this cabin in the middle of the summer when extended family came to visit LA. There was room and fun for all! Swimming, hiking and the Malt Shoppe in town were a few of the favorite activities! Three months passed and we needed a getaway, so back up we went. This time we were greeted by a blanket of snow! What a wonder, and only a bit over an hour away from LA! The cabin is clean and comfortable. The owners, obviously, take great pride in their property and have it setup with everything we needed. Easily sleeping 10 people, our teenagers were able to invite friends to join us. Renting this cabin has been a priceless, memory making experience for our family!

Our family rented this beautiful home in February for 3 days. It completely exceeded our expectations. It was cozy, comfortable, beautifully furnished, kid friendly and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kids had a blast sledding and playing in the snow right outside the cabin. We can't wait to go back!
