We loved it! The cottage was clean and cozy, and it was the perfect place for us to stay. Kathy was so helpful and welcoming. We fell in love with Brevard and can not wait to go back.

This is a great place to stay if you are in Brevard. Our daughter was at the Brevard Music Camp the last two summers and we have stayed 4 or 5 times for 2 to 4 nights each visit. Every time we arrived there were fresh baked cookies and milk/tea/coffee ready for us! It is the cleanist place I've stayed in (much cleaner than hotels in the area). It is a short drive to Brevard Music Camp and only a 5 minute drive or less into the town. We explored many waterfalls around the area as well. The best value in town and the owner is wonderful and her hospitality is the best!

Cozy Little Getaway!

Loved the cottage. Everything was perfect. When we first pulled in the driveway, we saw 2 white squirrels, that was worth the drive down. The home baked cookies, milk in the frig, and a basket with 2 wine glasses and a bottle of wine. Who could ask for more. The cottage was immaculate.

My mom and I came to NC for a Clogging Competition and we abosolutely love it. (The Cottage in Brevard) The cookies were fantastic and the white squirrels were magnificent. They definitely brought us goodluck at our competition. Our team WON Overall Amature Small Team! Yay! Thanks for the milk. We loved it in North Carolina.

Owner response:Thank you Kimberly and Nancy! Come back when you can! Kathy @ The Cottage

My husband & our 2 border collies stayed there the weekend of the Super Bowl (2011). It was LOVELY. I am a homebody, but I did not want to leave. The listing description is accurate, the photos genuine, it was clean & yes I would recommend it to my friends!. We hiked Saturday & Sunday & all 4 of us truly enjoyed ourselves. The dogs loved it too! I want to go back & stay for a WEEK! Karen, Tega Cay, SC

Wonderful - a peaceful and quiet getaway

Guest: A (South Carolina)
Date of Stay: 10/16/10 Review Submitted: 11/20/10

Kathy has created such a welcoming atmosphere, it makes one feel like they are coming back home to visit family. Seeing the freshly baked cookies for the first time brought smiles, they were great to come back and enjoy after a day of hiking. It is also in a great location for a number of reasons. There are many places nearby to go hiking, including some great waterfall hikes. If you are here in Apple season - you should go to one of the orchards like in Hendersonville. Those apples tasted so much better than what we can buy in the store. Plus, you can go always and visit places in Brevard too. This home was wonderful because it also was such a quiet and peaceful place. Being able to stay here was truly a blessing and hope to come back again.

Cozy, peaceful and relaxing

If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, this clean and cozy cottage is in a nice quiet location, yet just a short drive to shops, supermarket, restaurants, etc. Peaceful surroundings, birds, butterflies. My husband and I came to do some mountain biking and it was a good location to ride at Dupont, which has a lot of waterfalls. The owner was helpful and responsive when answering questions before we arrived, and also left a nice little surprise for us when we arrived!

Brevard get-away

Guest: Ed (Jackson, MS)
Date of Stay: 08/15/10 Review Submitted: 03/25/11

This is a snug but certainly not cramped duplex located about 3 miles west of Brevard up in a wooded, secluded neighborhood with the occasional visits from members of the area's white squirrel population. If you are planning a stay in the Brevard area, it a wonderful place for a get-away week or weekend. Owners are attentive but unobtrusive.

Cozy cottage great for cyclists

Guest: Norman and Kelly (Fredericton, Canada)
Date of Stay: 04/22/10 Review Submitted: 05/13/10

We stayed at the Cottage for two weeks in April / May 2010 and loved our visit. The Cottage is in quiet and heavily treed area just a few miles from downtown Brevard. It is cosy and immaculately clean. Kathy was extremely accommodating from the time we made our reservations right through to when we wanted to stay a few extra days at the end. We are avid cyclists and were in Brevard for a cycling vacation. If you’re interested in serious cycling, Brevard is a fantastic location. The Assault on the Carolinas route goes practically outside the door and Cesar’s Head isn’t even the best climb in the area. Bring your mountain bike as well - the mtb’ing in Pisgah is great, and we’re told Dupont State Forest is excellent also - but we were so busy with Pisgah and the road riding that we never made it there. Next year!

Our stay was delightful. We have never felt so welcome--everything from the lights to the music to the pie and cookies. And then there was the milk in the fridge and the wine. We felt so pampered. Your directions took us right to the door with no problems at all. And then to top it all off, the weather was glorious all weekend. The cottage is old, but so neat and clean. It's completely out of the busyness of town, yet so close in. The Vinsons

We really enjoyed our trip to Brevard and loved the cottage. The cookies were really good and a nice welcome. We would recommend your cottage to friends, and even have one from Colorado that may want to rent it sometime in the spring. We really enjoyed the beautiful fall colors and the waterfalls in the area. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us.

Cannot beat the accommodations for the price!! Cottage is basic, but very comfortably and well furnished and very clean. Many extras in way of welcoming hospitality. We were there a week for the purpose of buying a home in Brevard. The fact that it was 1.5 miles from the center of town was perfect for us. Though not a "mountain home," this location provides easy access to Pisgah National Forest, the mountains west of Brevard, and Dupont State Park. For easy access to/in Brevard and the surrounding area, you won't find a better location near this price.

We stayed at "The Cottage" for a week in June and had a wonderful time. It was so clean and cozy. We can not wait until our return. Thanks Kathy for your warm welcome. You made our visit perfect. This is my new favorite place to stay. Loved watching the bunny in the front yard and the fire flies at night. Special memories were made and many more to come.

We had a blast at The Cottage! All was clean, water was great, weather was fantastic. We loved the "old cottage feel" and the peace and quiet. It was lovely to wake up to the birds in the morning. YOU should have been a decorator. Loved what you've done with the old place without making it "new". The bed was clean and comfortable. Thank you for meeting our budget and helping to make our vacation a success. Rob & Michelle-St. Pete, FL

Sunday, July 19, 2009The Rustic Cottage Recently, I had the pleasure of staying at “The Cottage” in Brevard, NC. First, the photos do not do this cottage justice! The Cottage is much more delightful than the photos show, inside and out. The inside is spacious and very, very clean. In fact, it may be the cleanest I have ever rented. The Cottage is cozy, comfortable and even has Direct Television in both the living room and bedroom. But who could honestly even think of watching TV while vacationing in the mountains? The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, oven/stove, cookware and dinnerware as well as a microwave. In case you get cold, there are extra blankets stashed in the hall closet and one in the living room too; the air-conditioning works very well. I’m not sure the website or the photos show that The Cottage is actually two fully equipped rentals – one bedroom/one bath units on each side complete with kitchens. Each side sleeps four; each bedroom has a queen bed with a brand new mattress (I peeked!) and the living room sofas are sleepers. So, if you are looking for more accommodations than one side affords, you might luck out and be able to rent both sides which could accommodate eight very comfortably. The Cottage rentals are also the most affordable, priced just right packed with value beyond the dollar signs. The proprietors are very friendly and easy to deal with. You might even find fresh baked goodies awaiting you as we did! My unit smelled of fresh baked cookies when I entered and it immediately felt like home. The Doubletree has nothing on Sega Properties! They even had coffee makers in each unit – one of my main concerns considering I am a true coffee addict and worry about my morning coffee. There was even a fresh supply of coffee, enough for my morning pot of java prior to my grocery-gathering jaunt into town the day of my arrival. In fact, it’s so peaceful you just may experience the best sleep of your life as did I.The proprietors are also motorcycle friendly, so have no concerns. In fact, Bob (the husband half of the owners), is very fond of motorcycles and came in quite handy when I needed my sparkplugs changed! He not only helped me install them, but he taught me how just in case I ever needed to do that little chore again. Thanks Bob! I have made reservations at The Cottage again in September for a wedding in the area and will be traveling by automobile. I am hoping for some early fall colors, as I’m sure this would
