Fantastic Flat!

This was our favorite property while on a two-week road trip across the UK - and we stayed a lot of places! The flat was huge, beautiful, well-equipped in a favorable location near the city and the water. The owners were incredibly helpful and flexible with us. We highly recommend!

Owner response:Thank you so much. We're so pleased that you enjoyed the location.

Highlight of visit to Edinburgh

We have just returned from our vacation to Scotland and England. This apartment was our home during our stay in Scotland. Anyone who comes across this flat should consider themselves incredibly fortunate. The owners are lovely people: very welcoming and relaxed. The flat has all the comforts of home: it was in immaculate condition, well supplied, quiet and well located. We had the pleasure of accessing a grocery store, deli, fruit and vegetable store, bus access to Edinburgh and a beach all within minutes of our accomodation. Hope to return! Thank you Liz and David!

Owner response:So glad you made the most of the local amenities, in particular the relaxing vibe of the seashore. It's also good to hear that we provide a good base to enjoy all the sights of the city. Many thanks!

Amazing flat with amazing hosts

My family and I (one couple, grandmother, sister and 5 year old girl) stayed for a wedding during the Fringe festival. This flat was my favorite place in Edinburgh. The feel of the area was peaceful and the flat was so inviting. Our Hosts were welcoming, helpful and quiet (we didnt even hear them once). The area was not touristy and so easy to access by the bus system. It was a wanderful to be able to leave the busy downtown events to our little oasis. Just feet away is the boardwalk where you can stroll and relax. I would hightly recomend this great place if you are looking for a true gem!

Best Flat Ever

First and foremost being a newbie at reserving places to stay online can be fearfull, David and Liz took that fear away and made the whole process easy and very enjoyable. As you may read this flat has everything a couple or a small family may be looking for, great location, close to the beach and only a stones throw to the bus system which can have you downtown in 15 mins or less. Anyone looking to stay in Edinburgh should put this flat on the top of their list, David and Liz where more than willing to help us with information on sights and stores. Overall they made our vacation in the UK probably the most enjoyable out of everywhere we stayed and if we are ever back in Scotland we will be looking them up again. Again thanks David and Liz you guys are the best.....

Great place to stay and the best host/owners in the world!

Liz and David are the greatest people, very friendly, helpful with everything and they even provided breakfast! The pictures are pretty accurate (bigger I think), except that there are 2 separate bedrooms not one. The bus stop is only a 2 minute walk and it stops about every 15 minutes. The apartment is a bit out of the way being about a 20 minute bus ride into Edinburgh, but well worth the ride as my friend and I was able to learn a lot from the locals and we enjoyed our conservations with them. We learned about some great places to eat and I left the information at the apartment. So enjoy the great food as we did! I cannot say enough about how friendly everyone is in Edinburgh and how easy it is to get around the area. What a beautiful city and such wonderful old world charm. On a personal note- Liz, thank you for introducing us to Barbara, what a wonderful and interesting woman. I still think she needs to write her life story. I’d read it! We had such a great night, Louanne and I enjoyed our conversation with the both of you so much that we hated to see it end.

Owner response:What can I say! You are too kind. Firstly I'm so glad that you discovered how special this area can be and having the best of both worlds - easy access to the centre and the interest and character of the vicinity. It was a real pleasure to meet you both and we will all remember you with great fondness.

Our trip at the holidays

Guest: Sara (Denver, CO)
Date of Stay: 12/30/10 Review Submitted: 01/09/11

Returned last week from a great visit to Edinburgh and cannot recommend this property highly enough. Extremely comfortable and the perfect location for our needs! All the comforts of home and more--we were welcomed and given a short get-acquainted tour of the apartment. Location is so close to the bus line (very easy to understand and quite inexpensive) that our many trips into Edinburgh's city center were no problem at all. The photos and description on the website are accurate--our walk along the beach or around the nearby park were remarkable. The owners went out of their way to make our arrangements go smoothly--before our stay and during. I look forward to another visit to Edinburgh, and will definitely try to stay here again. I would have no reservations about recommending this location to anyone who wants convenient access to Edinburgh with the warm feel of a small town.

Owner response:Thankyou so much for your kind review. You pointed out the advantages of this location and the ease of access to the town centre which is something everyone who has stayed here appreciates very much.

We had such a great time here! Thank you so much for the use of your apartment and all your advice. It was so kind of you to lend us coats / sweaters until our bag was located.

I had a wonderful time. Portobello is a great area and so close to the city. I enjoyed both the quiet days and the busy days.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The house is perfect, just far enough from the clatter of the city but close enough for easy access. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Edinburgh and look forward to our return!

Thank you for the beautiful, comfortable and well appointed flat! We have stayed in self catered apartments in many countries and can definately say this is among the best! Your hospitality was fantastic and touches like restaurants and attraction suggestions made our stay very comfortable. Movies, music and video games made the place perfect for our family. Lovely to meet you. Thank you for introducing us to Edinburgh - we loved it!

We loved staying in this lovely flat for our five days in Edinburgh - (not enough time!) We played music and sang at the coffee house on the beach, painted and played in the water. We love that the Scottish are so inclusive when it comes to music. We watched the dogs play in the park across the street and on the beach. This is a lovely neighbourhood and just the right distance to the hustle and bustle of downtown. We couldn't have asked for a better trip here. We love Edinburgh and this flat.

Tranquil, Tasteful, Sunlit, Convenient

My husband and I stayed here for 18 days spanning April and May 2010. We would certainly book here again. This top-floor apartment has large windows east and west. There is a sweet park across the street. Only half a block away is the beach. We didn't have a car, but we had no trouble with getting into town by either bus or train. The train was an easy 12-min. walk and is certainly faster and smoother than bus, but get a timetable, as it has an irregular schedule. The apartment has a great wifi system, and all other renovations were tasteful--a pleasure to just hang around on days when we were slow to get moving. We really liked the owners, and they were quite helpful about restaurants and day trips to other cities. For long stays, the only inconvenience was that the local laundry closed down, so we had to do hand washing. Check how that may change over time. Overall, we recommend the location for anyone who enjoys Edinburgh but would also like to be near the ocean and greener surroundings, and for people who value a peaceful living situation.

We stayed in this lovely and very comfortable apartment when we visited Edinburgh for the first time in August. We loved the location so close to the seaside where we enjoyed some morning and nighttime strolls. We loved the friendly neighborhood shops, and the kind apt owner, Liz who was very helpful in making sure we had a great time. It was fun to be in a typical neighborhood and to watch all the people walk their dogs at the park across the street. We would love to stay in this apartment again. It is an easy ride into the hectic center of town, and a nice return to a more tranquil home base.

We are very happy we chose to stay here. It is roomy and comfortable with everything we needed. It is nicely furnished, quiet and sunny. The bus stop and train station are close, as is the beach. It is a great base to explore the area. We will definitely stay there again.

Thank you so much for your kind hospitality. We had a wonderful trip made only better by your care and concern. We enjoyed our time in Scotland immensely - Edinburgh is indeed a magical city. Your rental provided us a warm, cosy homebase from which to explore all that Scotland has to offer. We are home-bodies who enjoy travelling and your apartment provided us the best of both worlds. Thank you again for everything! We hope to be back.

We have had a wonderful first visit to Scotland! We loved staying in this very comfortable apartment and it was especially nice to be so close to the ocean reminds us of our own Sandiago beaches. We had a blast at the Fringe Festival taking in so many fun and creative performances. We also managed to squeeze in some museums and a great hike along the Water of Leith to the Royal Botanic Gardens. Thank you so much for your warm welcome and thoughtfulness in the appointments of the apartment, the delicious scones and jam and for the Fringe programme. We are sorry that we do not have a few more days here, but we will come back again. Scotland is an awesome country!
