I work in the field of conflict resolution, consulting with governments, private companies and NGOs. I enjoy vacation time with my family at our secluded lake retreat and look forward to having others share this unique experience.
Why the Owner Chose Detroit Lakes
We bought this property because it is increasingly rare to find such a secluded lakefront site with great fishing, boating, swimming, bird watching and wildlife. There are wonderful walking and biking paths nearby, as well as easy access to a great national wildlife refuge and a jewel of a state park (Itasca -- headwaters of the Mississippi River).
The Unique Benefits of this House
It is hard to overstate the joy of playing tennis on your own private court surrounded by forest and seeing a bald eagle swoop along the trees near the court! The fishing is great as well -- walleyes, northerns, bass, rock bass, crappies, sunfish, and others. We never tire of the lake view and the bird watching. At night, we enjoy soaking in the Jacuzzi bath and reading a good book while the loons call to each other.

The fishing was amazing, we couldn't put our hooks in fast enough to catch them. My daughter caught her first walleye this year. The lake was clear, calm and quiet. It was very private. The house was great, rooms for all of us. Plenty of space for a large family or multi families. Great kitchen, the whole family could eat in it togther. The eagles flying over the home was priceless and the loons were everywhere. Even though there wasn't a big beach area it was perfect for our small children. The swimming off the dock was great for the older kids. We had a great time and many family memories.
Recommended for:Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
