We had a wonderful time visiting NM and staying in Aztec. The home was lovely, had everything we needed and very comfortable. Great views of the San Juan mountains in the distance and a peaceful farm scene across the Animas River. Really breath taking. It was an easy trip to the Navajo Dam where we spent a lot of time fishing on the San Juan River(which was excellent). We had a chance to drive into the San Juan Mountains in Colorado and shop in Durango. Visiting the Aztec ruins and Mesa Verde were part of the experience. The house is in a perfect location. Enthusiastically recommend this spot.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Myself and four friends stayed at this great location during the Iron Horse Motorcycle Rally. We were very comfortable and the sights and views were great. The hosts treated us like family. I would highly recommend this property if you want privacy, scenery, and a country atmosphere. We plan to make future accomodations.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great stay at this perfectly situated vacation home overlooking the Animas river. What we loved most were the views from the large deck, the sky, the birds, the wash... The home has plenty of space and very loveable hosts. Thanks for sharing the property!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our stay overlooking the Animas River was great. It not only provided a base to head out to see some sites and do some hiking but also was a good place to sit back and relax. Its near enough to everything you need but also surrounded by nature, with lots of privacy. Watching off the back deck, or even just those huge windows, was spectacular!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: I personally built this home in 1998. I built it where you capture views from all of the windows. It is peaceful and quiet and I believe it has probably one, if not the best, panoramic views in San Juan County.
Why the Owner Chose Farmington:
Well, it is centrally located between the towns of Durango, CO and Farmington, NM---both only 25 minutes away. It is also close to the CO/NM border and the snow melts once you cross the state line:)
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You may hike to the river below if you so desire fishing and/or just simply would enjoy a river walk. We have one of the best mountain bike trails in the country 'The Alien' (also, a historical space ship crash/site recorded in 1948 and kept secret by the US Gov't)---just 5 miles down the road. 'Aztec Ruins' is just 10 minutes away. And for the Durango enthusiasts; San Juan 'Quality Waters' fisherman; golfers; rafters; skiers, etc...., you are just 30 or less minutes away----all the amenities of the 4 corners are nearby as this home is centrally located.
