Luxurious Vacation Rental in the Golden Triangle of Bordeaux!

Year Purchased: 2009

Why the Owner Chose Bordeaux

I just fell in love with this apartment when I first visited it with my realtor! It was in a very bad condition, but there was room and volume, and the location was just unbelievable, in the most exclusive and sought after part of the city centre but in a quiet street. I appointed an architect and interior designer whose mission it was to create a pleasant, bright, and modern living space. I bought the apartment in January 2009, renovation was finally completed in April, and I am very pleased to say that all my guests so far since May 2009 (from Norway, France, Canada, Switzerland, The UK, the USA and Australia!) have just loved the place. I have arranged and furnished the apartment just as if I were to live there myself, with all conveniences one might need. Whether you are visiting Bordeaux for business or vacation, everything will be there for you to fully enjoy your time here. And I'm only a phone call away at any time!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

While being a small urban apartment, this apartment offers a secluded sleeping area above the main living area (but where one can still stand as the ceiling is very high), with its en-suite shower room. Separate restroom. With a flat screen TV and more than 100 satellite channels, hifi and DVD player, wireless internet throughout, and an inkjet color/B&W printer, you will be able to work as well as enjoy a restful evening "at home" after a day exploring the city. You'll find everything you need to make yourselves a nice home-cooked meal, with a supermarket 3 minutes walk away, and plenty of groceries and food stores all around. A Nespresso coffee machine will delight coffee lovers! Among other amenities, the apartment offers a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, a ventilator, and plenty of guide books and tourist information. Owner's Map of Bordeaux

Bonjour! Let me welcome you to our beautiful city. Bordeaux truly is a world-class city, especially so if you like architecture, fabulous food and wines, and "la Belle Vie"!
Listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Bordeaux will delight you with its beautifully crafted XVIIIth century buildings, its lively riverside, its pleasant little squares with all kinds of cafés and restaurants and endless sandy ocean beaches just under an hour's drive.
I have lived in Bordeaux 20 years, where I own a language travel agency, sending students of all ages to the USA, the UK, Canada or Australia to attend English language courses.
I also work in real estate as a consultant. Bordeaux is a great city anytime of year : autumn is beautiful and visiting the vineyards then is a "must", with Christmas time comes the traditional Christmas Market and the city wears its beautiful Christmas lights, spring is when many exhibitions are on, and summer is just ideal with the ocean an hour'sdrive out of town and all these al-fresco dinners in the city!
And if you own a nice house or apartment in Palm Springs or Fort Lauderdale… I am willing to consider a vacation exchange!

A great place to stay in Bordeaux

Guest: Mary Riser (Brooklyn, New York)
Date of Stay: 10/08/11 Review Submitted: 10/24/11

My husband & I were very, very pleased with our one-week stay in this apartment. The owner, Gerald, is a pleasure to deal with. He responds quickly to e-mails, speaks & writes excellent English, & provided a warm, personal, & informative welcome. We were tired & hungry on arrival, so we really appreciated Gerald's special treats! The apartment is clean & bright, the bed is comfortable, & there is plenty of hot water. It was great to have the dishwasher & the washing machine, and thanks to Gerald's instructions we were actually able to operate them! The apartment feels much larger than it is, with its high ceilings, tall windows, & good use of space. The kitchen has plenty of cookware & utensils so you can easily cook full meals, as we did some evenings. The apartment is well stocked with information & guidebooks, too. The location was perfect for us, in a real neighborhood with good, useful shopping, yet very close to Bordeaux's many interesting sights. We could (& did) walk everywhere, though we also bought 7-day unlimited Tickartes so we could hop on & off the tram at will. One of our favorite places was the nearby Jardin Publique, a real gem of an urban park--beautiful, well-used, & yet not overly crowded. We spent many happy hours relaxing there. The beauty, scale, & incredible architecture of Bordeaux far exceeded our expectations. (Our only caveat is the "dog doo." There is more than in Paris or New York.) If you like cheese at all, be sure to go to Jean d'Alos. There's plenty of room to browse, the service is very friendly, & the cheeses are well-labelled & perfect. We also bought an incredible, dense pain Gascon from Au Petrin Moissagais in the Chartrons. We hope to stay in Gerald's apartment again (if it's not fully booked!), & we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, convenient, well-located "home away from home" in Bordeaux.

Owner response:Dear Mary and Sandy, Thank you so much for these kind words, and I am so pleased that you loved my apartment and our beautiful city! It will be always be a pleasure to see you again, in Bordeaux ... or in New York City! My very best, Gerald

We stayed at this apartment for 5 nights, it was a great location, could not be closer to the bus and tram! The supermarket was a few minutes up the road and many cafes and restaurants are only a few minutes away. The place was very comfortable and very well equipped. The apartment is as per the pictures. I would definately go back to this apartment and would recommend it to friends. Michael was very helpful.

We spent a week in this lovely apartment in central Bordeaux . We have stayed in many apartments in Europe but rarely have we come across such a generous and thoughtful owner as Gerald . We really appreciated the personal welcome , the flowers , the bottle of excellent wine , the bottled water , the 'phone calls and the little treats . The apartment was quite small but modern , compact and very clean with everything we needed and the position was very good for sightseeing and restaurants . Thank you Gerald .

Thank you, Gerald, for making this apartment available to us! It is in an ideal location and we were able to enjoy the beautiful city of Bordeaux more than we expected. Everything in the apartment was in top condition. You were so helpful getting us connected on the internet and learning how to use a European washer and dryer! Having a dishwasher made my day! We would definitely recommend this apartment and you to anyone. You even suggested a good day to visit the vineyards and the beach at Arcachon...and you were right! The weather was perfect on those days! Thanks again for making this a perfect spot to vacation in. We won't forget Bordeaux...EVER!

Owner response:Dear Catherine and Ern, Thank you so much for your review! You've been great guests and it was a real pleasure to have you. I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation. Next time you are around, I'll treat you to a nice restaurant. Out of our 2000-something restaurants… you can't have tried them all as yet!! Thanks you again ! Gerald

What a wonderful apartment! This was a perfect base to explore the beautiful city of Bordeaux. The owner was extremely helpful and provided so many special touches that make this apartment a perfect home away from home. Honeymoon in Bordeaux

Guest: Michael K.
Date of Stay: 06/07/11 Review Submitted: 08/21/11

The apartment is perfect! The bed was comfy, the nespresso was good, and the french doors to the balcony were beautiful! My wife and I spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony, enjoying a beverage and people watching. The apartment is in a perfect location. Walking distance to everything: shopping, dining, site seeing, you name it and it's close by. We recommend Cafe Bellini for drinks and great small plate food. (Try the Gran Marnier sour!) The owner Gerald was very nice as well. He greeted us when we arrived before leaving us to our vacation. He was very helpful and thoughtful. He emailed us to see if we needed anything. I would reccomend this apartment to anyone. We'll be staying here when we come back!

Owner response:Dear Mike and Julie, Thank you for these very kind words! It was a pleasure to have you as guests, and I am really happy to see that you have enjoyed our beautiful city… and some of its hundreds of restaurants ! Hope to see you again! Thank you, Gérald

Parfait! / Perfect!

Guest: Sophie (Brittany,France) (Bordeaux, France)
Date of Stay: 08/12/11 Review Submitted: 08/19/11

A fabulous apartment, in a fabulous area, of a fabulous city. In a nice period building, an elegant apartment with bright and fresh designer furniture, particularly well equipped (wifi, DVD, printer and printing paper, dishwasher, luxury Nespresso coffee machine, to name but a few). It's got it all, and all is of premium quality with all user manuals instructions available. The apartment is perfectly designed with a large balcony and huge ceilings, all in a symphony of whites and greys with some color touches of red. Very nice sleeping area on a low mezzanine with again high ceiling. Owner is charming, enthusiastic, gave us plenty of good and valuable advice, available at all times… but never intrusive. The location is perfect, in the heart of the "chic" part of the city-center, walking distance to the river, the park, everything. You don't need a car, but if you have one, it's easy to park at the parking lot close by, they have reduced 7-day rates available. Neighbors in the building are all very nice and discreet, privacy is perfect. PS : The apartment even has a great security lock… but don't leave the keys inside when you go out as the door will lock automatically and you would have to call the owner for assistance !.
