The brownstone was really nice and had all that we needed. It nicely accommodated five of us. The original woodwork was beautiful. This location was not far from the subway stations. The only drawback was that it was a 30 minute subway ride into the theater district. If we were in Manhattan for the day and had a play that evening, it was not worth the more than hour trip (riding and walking), to return and clean up for the play. There are some good sights in Brooklyn, and if you were visiting areas here as well as in Manhattan, this place would be great. We did not stay long enough to see things in Brooklyn during this visit, so a location closer to the theater district would have suited us better.

My family and I had a great time. The apartment was clean and spacious. Krista's housekeeper was kind enough to let us in three hours earlier than or targeted time of arrival. We wish we had been able to stay longer!
Owner response:Thanks Ann, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope to see you next time! Best wishes, Krista

Krista's brownstone has genuine charm and fantastic ambiance inside and out. If you are looking for all the modern comforts of home as well as turn of the century architecture and a really dynamic neighbourhood, this is the perfect place to stay. The bedrooms are beautiful, and the beds were really comfortable. Both my partner and I are very light sleepers, and neither of us had any problems sleeping, as the street was very quiet at night. The very modern and fully equipped kitchen is great and has all the conveniences; gas stove, microwave, large refrigerator, coffee-maker, toaster, very easy to either heat up leftovers, or make a full meal. The bathroom is roomy, the water pressure is very good (my daughter loved the rain sprout shower head), and the towels were excellent, to quote my daughter "hotel quality". The dining room is very inviting and seats 4, the living room is gorgeous and has two couches to relax on after long days of walking, and it's all beautifully decorated with a very zen feel that works perfectly with all of the well preserved interiors. Some great books on Brooklyn architecture, cable, and wi-fi kept us entertained at night after spending the day out and about in the city. The brownstone is in a great neighbourhood with major character. Lots of great restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. We can recommend Bella Greens, Chavelas and the Blue Marble for bagels, Mexican and ice-cream respectively. Very easy walks to the subway, the Botanic Gardens, and the Brooklyn Museum and it's a quick ride into the city proper. We met Krista at the end of our stay and were able to thank her for her delicious home-baked banana bread. She was just as gracious and charming as her brownstone, and we will definitely be back.
Owner response:Thanks Hyon! I really appreciate your detailed and generous review. I'm sure it'll be helpful for future guests. I look forward to seeing you again next time. Best wishes, Krista

I was traveling with my daughter and sister to New York. It was my daughters first time and my sister and I had been there 10 years before. I was the first to arrive and after a long day of traveling it was nice to have a "home" to come to. The brownstone is beautiful with great architectural details and was very comfortable and clean. It was really nice to have kitchen even though we ate most meals out. Krista had banana bread, juice and fruit waiting for us on our arrival. It was a very nice touch-and delicious! The area seemed like an up and coming area with many great restaurants that Krista has highlighted in a binder on he desk in the living area. Thre were several grocery stores within a few blocks that had everything you would need. We felt very safe in the neighborhood, even when being out late at night. The brownstone was very close to subway stations and we were able to get express trains into the city, which took from 20-30 minutes depending on where we were going. Brooklyn has many great neighborhoods each with their own character. Staying in Brooklyn lets you enjoy a more "real" part of the city than staying in Manhattan. We enjoyed the farmer's market on Satuday at the Grand Army Plaza which is next to Prospect Park. We explored our local neighborhood as well as Willilmsburg, Prospect Heights, Park Slope and downtown Brooklyn. Coney Island is also very close. We did most of it on foot but you can easily explore by taking the local subways or buses. We purchased one week passes at the airport for $29 that we used many times a day. They were good for buses and the subway. Our favorite local restaurant was Chevalas Mexican Restaurant and Tom's for breakfast. We also enjoyed a couple of local bars. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. I have already recommended it to friends who will be traveling to New York in the next year. Thanks again Krista and Jan!
Owner response:Thanks for your review Allison! I'm happy to see you discovered many of my favorite local spots while you were here. I hope to see you next time! Best wishes, Krista

My sister and I took my niece to New York for a fun-filled week. One of the best parts was being able to relax after a day filled with adventures in this beautiful brownstone. It was nice to have a living room to watch the morning weather reports and to just hang out discussing our day. The kitchen was stock full of everything you need to make your own meals, which helpws to keep the food expenses down. There are wonderful grocery stores nearby where you can find everything you need and the prices were very reasonable. I'll be honest, some of the prices were cheaper than home (Wisconsin). We also enjoyed some of the local restaurants and bars. We never had a bad meal or drink and everyone was very friendly. What I loved the most was how easy it was to get into Manhattan on the train. We bought a weekly pass which is a great way to go. The train station was very close by which was great after a day of exploring! We'd been to New York before so it was fun to stay in Brooklyn. There is a lot to do in this community and the people are very friendly. Krista provided us with a lot of useful information prior to our trip which helped us tremendously. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Brooklyn and NYC. Thanks so much Krista for a great trip!! You are a great host!! Angie

I totally recommend Krista's brownstone to anyone who wishes to have a true NY/Brooklyn experience. The pictures accurately depict the charm and warmth of the brownstone. Krista made the place extra special by providing the essentials for a quick breakfast. The subway was only 4 blocks away and the express train took us directly into NYC. We recommend a local restaurant--The Spot American Bistro for dinner-great food and service. And Chavela's has the best Sandria I've ever tasted. We would definately stay here again when in NY-if available.
Owner response:Thanks Kim. I really appreciate your feedback and sharing your experience with other guests. Happy 2012! Krista

Our family of 4 have just spent a lovely week in this well appointed apartment in Brooklyn. The apartment is close to the Franklin St subway which we used every day to travel to Manhattan. There are many resturants within a short walk of the apartment and we tried the local Mexican and Indian, both were wonderful. Krista had left us fresh banana bread, milk, juice, coffee & tea, she also provided a detailed list of places in the neighbourhood to visit. We would gladly recommended this apartment and would love to return in the future.
Owner response:Anne, Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. I hope to see you all back here soon! Best wishes.

My sisters and I arranged a weekend in this lovely Brooklyn brownstone to celebrate our mother’s 75th birthday. Traveling from Florida, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, the apartment was conveniently located to subway lines from JFK and Manhattan, plus there was easy parking directly on the street. Stepping into the entrance of this century old building, we were warmly welcomed by Krista and the sweet smell of her freshly baked and amazing banana bread! Though the day was bitterly cold, the browstone suite was warm, comfortable, sparkling clean and super quiet. The photos accurately depict Krista’s attention to detail and great sense of style. For five women, there was plenty of closet space, luxurious towels and fluffy pillows. Krista provided plenty of helpful information about the neighborhood and we ordered a delicious cake from Lily and Fig, Brooklyn pizza from A Slice of Brooklyn, and tasty Chinese food from J’s Wong on the corner. Thank you, Krista, for making your charming property available for our special family gathering!
Owner response:Thank you for your very kind review Marianne! I'm so happy you enjoy yourselves in the space, and that you had the chance to check out what the neighborhood has to offer. I really appreciate your comments. Hope to see you again very soon!

Mother and I saw a program on HGTV about rehab on a Brooklyn Brownstone, Krista's was the perfect example for our vacation. Mother teased about her 'bucket list' during the planning stage. The Brownstone was near the subway line, we were in Manhattan within an hour each day. We used the New York Pass/City Sights Bus package. My sons, 22 & 20, loved the internet service at Krista's. They made a 'bucket list' too. We were able to walk to the Brooklyn Museum & Gardens from Park Place. It made for a wonderful vacation!
Owner response:Thanks for your comments Mel. I'm happy your mother's bucket list was fulfilled! Hope to see you again soon! Krista

Thankyou Krista ! House is beautifully restored and tastefully furnished, with plenty of room. We found ourselves happily sittin' around the kitchen bench and dining table planning each day's activities; makes things so much easier when you have a cosy, comfortable home base from which to explore Brooklyn and NYC. The neighbourhood of Crown Heights is dynamic and fun, with great parks (check out Prospect Park) and a diverse selection of restaurants and eateries (Tom's Restaurant for breakfast is a must). Franklin St subway just a couple of blocks away means you are 20 minutes from the heart of Manhattan. Again, many thanks Krista ! We will be back for sure.
Owner response:Thanks Mel & Jon! I really appreciate your thoughtful review. I'm looking forward to seeing you next time! Krista

The apartment on Park Place is a great place to stay! The street is quiet and friendly and only 4 blocks away from major subway lines taking you into all the boroughs. The neighborhood is walking distance from restaurants and shops in Park Slope and within a few short blocks of beautiful Eastern Parkway, the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and Prospect Park. All are a must-see and a great reason to spend a day just hanging out in wonderful Brooklyn. The apartment is large for 4 people and a very comfortable space to lounge, cook, or relax on the stoop visiting with the neighbors. Krista has decorated the apartment with a good eye for beauty and amenities and provides everything you would need including napkins in the dining room, luxurious towels in the bathroom, comfortable furniture, and fresh made banana bread, coffee, teas and juices in the full kitchen. The neighborhood sports Tom's, the best breakfast restaurant in Brooklyn, only 5 blocks away, and has a convenient 24 hour green grocery within 3 blocks. We visited for 5 days from the woods of northern Minnesota and easily fit right in to the pace and lively life of Brooklyn! And staying in Brooklyn is a much more interesting and comfortable way of being in NYC than staying in an expensive, crowded hotel room in Manhattan. So enjoy!!

My three sisters and 88 year old mother gathered at Krista's for our 23rd annual reunnion. We come from four different states and had met in New York several times before. This was by far our best visit. The accomodations were roomy, comfortable, clean and far superior to hotel accomodations. Krista responded immediately to help with luggage and a burned out light bulb. Her suggestions for retaurants and sights lived up to expectation. Saturday morning at Tom's Diner, Sunday afternoon in the botanical garden and a Monday walk over the Brooklyn Bridge were highlights. We met friendly characters in the Crown Heights neighborhood. The subway into Manhattan was easy and fast. We didn't need a car and were able to go everywhere we wanted. I would recommend Krista's to family and friends and hope to return myself.
