We had a great time at this apartment, no view of the ocean, which helped to push us out in the mornings. There is SO MUCH to see and the apt. is very close to everything. El Yunque Rain Forest is about 15 minutes by car, and it's about a 15-minute walk fromt he apt. down the road to Balneario Beach with calm waters at a rather desolate beach in a GOOD way. Very peaceful! Walk-in is free, a car costs $4. They have showers and restrooms. Check out El Parrilla restaurant for fabulous food, #2 at the kioskos. The apt. has everything you will need including nice neighbors. It is less than an hour from San Juan and less than 30 minutes to Fajardo! We want to stay at this apt. again.

I couldn't have asked for a better howt while staying at this apartment. Its hard to imagine that with an apartment so well equipped that I needed to bring anything but my clothes. After a relaxing day at the beach I was surprised to learn that after ordering a hamburger at the Brass Cactus (located on the first floor of the building) that IT WAS THE BEST HAMBURGER I HAD EVER EATEN. Wat to go. The 2 for one happy hour sealed the deal and I ate a few meals there. The beach was very quiet and laid back so I was very happy to walk the miles of sand in tranquility. Can you beleive that Charlies, car rental charged me 80 dollars for 3 days and then the gas another $20. CHEEEEEEP. I travelled around the south side of the island and ate pig and red snapper. Followed the old roads and also went up into the rain forest which was 10 min from the Condo. I must say this is the place to unwind and recharge your batteries in safety. If ya want to go snoorkling, boating, etc.. don't hesitate. This place will do nicely

Most enjoyable stay. The beach is exquisite, everything is close by. John welcomed us, gave advice. Generous, convenient, fun. We booked our stay 5 days before, in the midst of the vacation season, when nothing else was available at the price. Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed at John's rental earlier this month, and were very happy with the experience. The studio was neat and comfortable for the two of us, though I could see it could get cramped with more than two. The location is great, easy to get to from San Juan, and convenient to discover area attractions (beaches, food kiosks, rain forest, bio bay at Fajardo...). John was a great host, met us on the first day and gave us helpful recommendations. Would highly recommend!

If you are looking for an affordable place to stay in a great location - this is it. John is a very helpful host and the condo is clean and well-maintained. My husband and I and two kids stayed here for a week and really enjoyed getting to know the Luquillo-Fajardo-El Yunque area. Try Ernestina's restaurant (in Luquillo, behind the Catholic church) for a great Puerto Rican dinner and the nicest people you will ever meet.

We had a wonderful stay in Luquillo! The beach was GORGEOUS, the people were wonderful, and we felt very safe. We were a short drive a way from El Yunque rainforest, which we visited several times. We also took a nearby ferry from Fajardo to Culebra which had one of the most amazing beaches I had ever seen. It's also just a 45 minute drive from Old San Juan, so we had an opportunity to explore there as well! John was a great host and I definitely plan on coming back to Luquillo should I visit Puerto Rico again. Highly recommended!

Review Submitted: January 27, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008 luquillo is an excellent place to get away from it all. if you want to mingle with friendly locals The Brass Cactus and the kiosks are THE places to go. natural wonders are close by too, the rainforest and the phosphorescent lagoon are not to be missed. any store/service is just a short drive away including walmart, k-mart and many fast food chains. the owner is wonderful to work with and provided many helpful hints, easy to follow driving directions and money saving suggestions as well. we'll return ASAP.
