Why the Owner Chose Gunnison

My husband was an avid hunter & outdoorsman who travelled to Colorado from the Midwest for many years. He ask me in the early 1980's to come see "Heaven " with him. Who could turn down an offer like that, so we toured all over Colorado and fell in love with Blue Mesa Lake and Sapinero. We have enjoyed our time here and never tired of the wonderful views, wildlife and friends we have made. Everyday is better than the last!

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

We have deer & elk who make their homes on our property. There is often black bears and mountain lions who pass through. Blue grouse and all kinds of birds make their homes nearby. Owner's Map of Gunnison

We bought the house, barn and 1st 20 acres in 1983. We built the cabin in 1992 to provide accommodations for our son whom was operating an outfitting business, then we retired from our jobs in 1995 and made the permanent move from the Midwest. We purchased the additional land over the next few years and now have just under 80 total acres. We love the peace and quiet our home provides and enjoy living in the Gunnison Valley.

What a place!!!!

Guest: QC and Rike (Sugar Grove, WV)
Date of Stay: 09/14/11 Review Submitted: 09/27/11

My wife and I just spent a week in this cabin and as the title says - What a Place!!!! When Mary Beth and Joyce say the cabin comes completely set up they really mean COMPLETELY SET UP. The area right around the cabin is perfect for folks that want to get away and look out over the Blue Mesa, relax and count the mule deer as they make their daily visits. The areas up to an hours drive away, that we visited, includes the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River, Blue Mesa Lake, Ouray/Orvis hot springs, Lake City and of course more mountain hikes then can be accomplished in a life time - we did 2. So, Cheryl and I suggest you make your reservation and plan to mix kicking back and getting out and about and enjoy a real mountain cabin adventure.

Cabin was wonderful, & very clean. Hosts thought of everything down to nightlights which were very appreciated. Scenery was magnificent, lots of room to hike, relax & just get away from it all. Hosts were very helpful in planning excursions when asked, but out of sight otherwise. Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

Best Location, Best Accomodations, Best Owners!

Date of Stay: 06/28/11 Review Submitted: 07/05/11

We stayed here for a week with our 12 and 15 year old children. We have vacationed before using VRBO, and this was the best experience we have had. Having the owners on site was not a problem at all; in fact, it was a blessing. They respected our privacy, yet were available to us and went above and beyond to meet all our needs. The cabin was perfect. We enjoyed the decor and all the trophy mounts. Books and games were available. The kids enjoyed playing checkers and horseshoes. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the plush towels were appreciated. The owners pay special attention to details....such as charcoal for the grill, provision of campfire when conditions permit, and reading materials related to the Gunnison area. There are numerous recreational opportunities in the area. We enjoyed every day spent there. Many of the activities are free or low cost. We enjoyed hiking around the cabin and the many wildlife sightings. The owners helped guide us to find activities that met our family's needs. At the end of our vacation, our family agreed that the best part was just relaxing on the deck of the cabin and enjoying that spectatular view. The pictures really do not do it justice...the sights, smells, and sounds surrounding us were too amazing to describe. We highly recommend this cabin to anyone planning to visit Colorado. It truly is a little piece of heaven on Earth. We look forward to returning and will definitely rent this same cabin agan.

Fabulous Rental and Owner

Guest: Ramona (Pittsburg, Tx)
Date of Stay: 09/04/09 Review Submitted: 03/13/11

We rented this cabin for a week and absolutely loved it. It is in a very quiet and peaceful location, and the view from the cabin deck is simply beautiful. You are blessed to see God's beauty all around, but not to far from many things to do. Also I must say the owner of the cabin is a very special lady that does her best to make sure you have everything you need while at her place. She is extremely accommodating but never intrusive. You simply can't help but love her, and we now consider her a dear friend. We are looking forward to our next visit, and there is no doubt that we will stay here again. It is a wonderful place to vacation!!!
