My Beautiful Fall visit

Guest: Karen (Burlington WI)
Date of Stay: 09/24/11 Review Submitted: 10/03/11

What a joy it was to spend the last week in September in God's Country and this charming home. I hit peak color! The owners have truly thought of everything & then some in appointing this home w/ creature comforts that I have never experienced in any other rental. The kitchen was especially well appointed! I'm a cook, and brought a lot of things I didn't need! The living area's were extremely comfortable and although I was looking for a "simpler time", I did enjoy the Wi-Fi & Directv! My only complaint was the hard mattress. However, I plan to be back next year & if they haven't replaced the mattress, I'll just bring my feather topper! They thoughtfully posted helpful notes around the house to help you navigate & help keep the place in the fine shape that its in. Hint: The house is much bigger than it looks in the pictures and there's lots of outside space, too! It's one of those places you just want to leave a little better than you found it! Thanks again! Karen......Burlington WI

Scott caught a 36-inch, 20-pound Northern

“We had a wonderful time up here! The privacy and quiet was great! We have been looking for a getaway like this and now found it, and we will absolutely be back! We were able to renew and relax, just what we needed. The cabin had everything we needed, very well stocked. Loved the pretty retro furnishings and clean! Such a clean, pristine cabin—you go the extra mile to make the cabin feel homey. Enjoyed sitting by the campfire at night, listening to the loons sing. The deck view is beautiful as well. AND...the fishing...Scott caught a 36-inch, 20-pound Northern in the lake, a highlight of the trip! I really enjoyed the amenities of WI-FI, TV and air conditioning. This cabin had it all. Will see you next year! Thank you!

What a beautiful place!!

Date of Stay: 07/30/11 Review Submitted: 08/20/11

“What a beautiful place! The lake is so clear, quiet and peaceful. The home was spotless and provided us with everything but the food. Thank you for bringing a Crock-pot for us too! We truly enjoyed our vacation here. Our boys were so excited to catch some fish and had a blast swimming. Thank you for sending an electrician right away to fix the light above the table. We had a great time and look forward to coming back soon. P.S. It is so adorable in here. I loved all the “pops” of color in the decorating and the “Retro” feel of it all. Very “homey” too.”

"We had a beautiful time again and had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed watching the hummingbird build her nest while we sat on the deck. If you watch her, you can see where it is, but it's really tiny!" Prior Lake, MN

Randy, Dawn & Family 6/28/11 "We loved our stay at this cabin. We have rented a few cabins in the northern MN area, and this one met all of our needs. I was very impressed by how clean and equipped it was. The lake was beautiful, and everyone enjoyed fishing, boating and canoeing. We did not do our homework, and we bought several things that were already here. We will know next time, and there will definitely be a next time. We moved from MN (Twin Cities) to Tennessee, and we really missed it. This is exactly the 'fix' we needed. Thank you for everything!" Franklin, TN

"We enjoyed the cabin so much! Beautiful view of the lake! We had our kids with us and some of their friends so with 7 we had plenty of room & everyone slept comfortably. Fire pit was enjoyed with making smores & cooking hot dogs. I even took my first canoe trip which wasn't easy. We had plenty of room to park 2 trucks w/trailors & boats & turn them around in the drive. You really had everything we needed & more. First time renting a cabin with Direct TV & WIFI & a dishwasher. (So many amenities!) We really had a wonderful family vacation... Thankyou," Don & Krista, Kokomo, IN.

"These past days were amazing. We loved the fishing, canoeing and swimming! Hearing the loons was an added treat. It was nice to be able to sit out on the dock at night with our feet in the water watching the fish play with each other on the surface. We loved the peacefulness of the nights and the mornings as well. This is the best vacation spot in the world!"

Brian and I had a wonderful time at your lake home. The peace and quiet were just what we needed. Your home is very comfortable and warm. Since we came up on our motorcycle, it was nice having everything you could possibly want or need already here. Carolyn was an awesome help to us. She made it possible to get a motor and use the boat to do some fishing. Though we didn’t catch any, we had a good time touring the lake. Thank you, Carolyn, for making our stay here as comfortable as could be. We plan to come back up in September and again this winter for the snow. Thank you for sharing your wonderful place with us. See you on our anniversary in September!

Sweet! First impression . . we were welcomed with a bright and cheery bouquet of flowers and a card wishing us a “Happy Anniver-sary”. We had been anxious to see it all, never knowing if the web-site is truly accurate. Clean? Absolutely! Like the Caribou Lake . . . pristine! This place is charming . . . love the décor. Some may call it retro, I call it nostalgic. Since we were married and started our family in the early 70’s, the style brought us right back there. From the paneling on the walls to the gingham checked wallpaper in the bathroom. From the harvest gold appliances to the tulip-shaped lighting over the dining table. I half expected to see an 8-track player, hearing the “Turtles” singin’ “Groovin.” Even more important than the charm was that this place was more than accommodating. Other than the food we ate and clothes we wore, we had everything here we could need or want in order to enjoy our time here. Plenty of space; next time we’ll bring friends. A clean comfortable bed upstairs, with crisp cotton sheets and a thick, cozy comforter to crawl under. Towels aplenty, both upstairs where the full-size tub is, and downstairs where the large shower stall stands. The space is utilized very efficiently and would accommodate a much larger party than the two of us. However, the two of us truly relished it all. The views are spectacular! The towering pines and birch trees, the rocky shore, and the brilliant blue water. Watching the glistening of the leaves reflecting the sun and the shimmering waves of the lake. Very serene. Not much noise other than the crooning of the loons and the melody of the song birds. Although, I swear I can hear echoes of the past, children splashing in the water, men telling their fish stories and everyone being beckoned to dinner. If I were to wish for any-thing, both Mel and I would love to view photos of this place back when you could look over the tree-tops to the lake, or the big catch, etc. Maybe even a journal or letter describing the thoughts and decisions to build here, what materials to use, how long did it take from first thought to finishing touch. When did the road get paved up here? So much history & love & sweat & tears & laughter & joy. Speaking of joy, this last three days of experiencing your home away from home has been divine. We canoed, we fished, we hiked, we read and browsed through the many books, we cooked hot dogs at the camp fire.

“Thank you so much for sharing your home. This was the perfect up-north getaway. The cabin was very clean and well equipped. The view of the lake was fantastic. And if you want to fish, so many lakes are within five miles of the cabin! We couldn’t have asked for anything more.”
