This spacious fully equipped vacation home (4000 sq.ft.) is located on the west side of Lake Rosseau, the largest of the three Muskoka Lakes (Muskoka, Joseph & Rosseau). The Muskoka region in general, and Lake Rosseau in particular, is one of the highest profile vacation destinations in Canada, the chosen retreat for many talented individuals and affluent families. The property is 10 minutes north of Minett, the home of Red Leaves and Cleveland House, famous for their world renowned golfing, dining, and boating, and 10 minutes south of the Village of Rosseau with its quaint shops and historic General Store. Muskoka is teeming with summer activities: Antique boat shows, boutique shopping in Port Carling, Santas Village in Bracebridge, art tours, regattas, Aspen Wildlife Sanctuary, Broadway shows at Deerhurst, and so on. For classic and jazz music lovers, the Festival of the Sound offers superb performances from 17 July to 09 August 2009 in nearby Parry Sound.
The residence is located on 40 acres of woodland, providing unusual privacy and endless opportunities for wildlife exploration. Most rooms feature panoramic views of Morgan Bay, islands in the distance. The mood of sky and seascapes is ever evolving as light and form interact during the day. Along the 550 feet of shoreline are expansive docks for swimming, boating, and relaxing, and a small beach area for children`s sand play. A loon diving for fish often makes his appearance in quiet times. Rental includes use of a canoe and a small fishing boat. For tenants who own or rent their own craft, the lake presents a wonderful environment for waterskiing, seadooing, sailing and fishing.
The interior of the house preserves the casual comforts of the traditional Muskoka cottage such as deep sofas and a massive granite fireplace. Open concept, the well-designed kitchen overlooks the dining room with its harvest table seating up to 8. French doors lead from the dining room to a Muskoka room and inviting deck (great for evening conversations overlooking the lake). The dining room flows into the adjoining living room with its signature view and fireplace. A den off the living room contains TV:DVD:Audio and a futon for overflow sleeping. Behind the living room on the upper level is the master bedroom and ensuite. Here, at dawn, one is greeted with spectacular sunrise vistas. The lower level is in many ways self contained, a large central Great Room (family room) with walkout to deck and connecting screened porch, 3 bedrooms with lake views, exercise room, and a 4 piece bathroom. The upper and lower level separation may be a plus for a multi-generational family. This residence is family and pet friendly.
