This spacious lakefront contemporary home on an especially private lot offers room to spread out for a relaxed vacation. The open floor plan combines the kitchen, living room and dining area into one space with cathedral ceilings, a fireplace, and two sliding glass doors opening onto a huge deck—all overlooking Pilgrim Lake.
An adjacent sitting area leads to a second living room/den, also with water views. On the same floor there is a master bedroom (king) with its own deck and en-suite bath as well as a second bedroom (two twins) also with its own bath. On the walk-out ground floor level are two bedrooms (one king and one with two twins), a small ¾ bath, and another living room area.
On almost two acres, the house shares a private beach on the lake with one neighbor. Located in a quiet back-roads area of Orleans, it offers a perfect spot for people who love kayaking, walking, swimming, biking, and enjoying nature. However, it is also convenient to Nauset and Skaket beaches (approx. 3 miles on local roads) and to the shopping and restaurants of Orleans, Chatham, Harwich, Eastham, and Brewster.
Amenities include cable TV with high-speed wireless internet; gas grill; outdoor shower; second deck off the master bedroom. Linens are included as a convenience (please leave them ready for the next tenants).

David and Diana, both teachers, have long ties to the Cape. As a child, Diana spent her summers at a nearby property that her family still owns.
Why the Owner Chose Orleans
After renting summer homes for many years on the Cape, we decided it was time to have our own. We love this particular area of Orleans because it feels like it's out in the country yet is only minutes from the heart of Orleans and from Nauset beach. We chose Orleans because it offers so many different kinds of water--from the ocean (Nauset) to Cape Cod Bay (Skaket and Rock Harbor) to Pleasant Bay (fabulous boating of all kinds) to its lakes (great swimming)--along with places for walking, biking, and, of course, enjoying the Cardinals games.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Being on a lake means that we are steps from kayaking, swimming, or sitting on our beach any time of day. This home has several spaces to relax while enjoying the water view--two decks, three living rooms, a garden swing--in an exceptionally private setting. The setting does not feel suburban, so there is a feeling of being close to nature. Most of all we enjoy the views of the water that fill almost every room of the house.
