THE PROPERTY
This is a brand new all exterior large 3BR/3BA home located in one of the most beautiful locations in Spain. Alcossebre is considered the jewel in the crown of the Costa del Azahar and the ideal place for your vacation. The gated-community where the house is, was built 3 years ago so everything is new and of excellent quality. The square footage is around 1,800 sf. not including the outdoor space.
The downstairs area features a very spacious living/dining room that opens to a large private backyard. High quality patio furniture (large table and 6 chairs) is also provided so you can enjoy your time/meals outside. Also, the large eat-in kitchen (fully equipped) and a full bathroom with shower are also located in the downstairs area.
The upstairs area features three large bedrooms and 2 other full bathrooms (master bathroom with shower over tub). The house has been furnished and decorated with exquisite taste.
The common spaces include a big grass area surrounding the property, the wonderfully kept 'indoor patio' and 'capilla'(chapel)from the old house - refer to my personal story for more details-, and a big pool with a kids section while you will spend some fun time for sure. All rooms in the house are exterior so there is plenty of natural light and ventilation. The rent also includes 2 parking spaces right by the house. This property is everything you need for a memorable vacation and more! Click on the link and you will see more than 40 pictures of the property!
THE TOWN AND WHAT TO DO/SEE WHILE YOU ARE HERE
NATURE - Alcossebre is the heart of the orange and fruit growing region(Costa de Azahar), which is bordered on one side by the mountains of the Serra d' Irta, and the sea on the other side. Here the sea and the mountains come together to form contrasting landscapes. Along its ten kilometers of coastline there are five high quality beaches. They are all very clean and well kept, and the best one of all is only a 2 minute walk from the house! There are also various coves along the way. These Mediterranean waters are ideal for water sports such as sailing, fishing and scuba diving, amongst others. Alcossebre is also a good base from which to explore the Columbretes Islands Nature Reserve.
Many different routes and footpaths run through the Sierra de Irta Mountains, Alcossebre's great nature area. Other interesting places are the L’Estany wetlands and the dunes to be found between El Carregador and La Romana beaches. The house is located between these two amazingly beautiful beaches. In addition, those that enjoy wildlife the Ebro Delta is less than an hours drive north, where you can take both river & sea trips for fishing, or just enjoy the walks or the beach.
FOOD - Local gastronomy is also highly varied, with fish and rice dishes being some of its most outstanding. There are in excess of 50 restaurants & bars in the area, which provide food & drink to suite every palette. The best is that they stay open until very late so you can have dinner at 6p.m. or at 11p.m.!! Don't forget to eat tons fresh seafood and paella while here Hmm...delicious! Don't mind a little wait sometimes as it is part of the experience and you are on vacation anyway! :-)
TOWNS AROUND - Within easy drive are the historic towns of Morella and Peniscola, which medieval casttle provided the setting for the Hollywood film, El Cid. Also, make sure you visit the city of Valencia, the 3rd largest city in Spain that hosted the American's Cup a couple of years ago (and also in 2 more years!). Don't miss el "Barrio del Carmen" for it has incredible character, and the "City of Sciences" that hosts the largest Acuarium in Europe. Valencia really is an incredible city and it's called the city of light and love for a reason! If you decide to come the 3rd week of March you will also get to experience the celebration of "Las Fallas", witch is something a little difficult to explain. You will need to see for yourself.
WATER AND THEME PARKS - There are also many water and thematic parks around. The best water one is about a 25 min. drive from Alcossebre in a town called Benicassim, and it's called "Acuarama". You and your kids will absolutely love it!. There also 2 incredibly huge theme parks that are also very fun for the whole family. You need to stay a whole day in order to enjoy the rides and everything they have to offer. One is located about 1 1/2 hour north and it's called "Port Aventura" and the other one is about 2 hours south and it's called "Terra Mitica". There is also a Go-Carting in Oropesa, which is only a 15 minute drive.
GOLF - If you enjoy playing golf, you may want to know that there are two Championship class Golf course's within 45 min's drive of the villa, as well as a 9 hole course which is 30 min drive away. The first course is 'Panoramica' which was designed by Berhnard Langer, this is close to Vinaros, which is north of Alcossebre, take the N340 to Vinaros then follow the N232, from where it is signposted. The second, Mediterranio is south of Alcossebre, take the motorway, A7 to Castellon North, junction 46, from where it is 10 min drive. This is the older of the two courses, and Sergio Garcia's home course. The 9 hole course, also to the north of Castellon, is near the port area, it is a 'Parkland' course, which is fairly flat but very tight.
SEE? Not only the house is beautiful and everything you and your family need for an awesome vacation, but there is also so much to do while you are here! However, if you are just looking to disconnect from your busy daily routine and spend your vacation time reading, sitting by the pool, taking long walks on the beach, and just enjoying the delicious food, this is also the perfect place as you can find peace and quiet as well. It truly is a wonderful place and you will have a restful and memorable vacation.
Wherever you decide to stay, may you have a great holiday! :-)

Owner's Map of Alcossebre
My family owned the land where the house is located but sold it about 5 years ago. Before we sold the property, there was a huge family mansion located right in the middle of the property. It believed they started building it in the mid 1800' s and it was finished in the early 1990' s. During the Spanish Civil war was partially destroyed but rebuilt when the war ended in 1942. The property had been in my family for generations so when it got sold 5 years ago, my mom, my two siblings and I decided to keep, each of us, a house in the community that was about to be built. We also requested to the developers to maintain the original patio (a replica of the Granada's Alhambra) and the amazing family chapel. They agreed as they understood it would give character to the community so, if you decide to stay in my property, along with the many things you will enjoy, you will also get to see these two beautiful pieces of art right in the middle of the community. ..pretty cool, right? :-)
Growing up, I used to spend 4 months out of the year in Alcossebre (the other 8 we spent in a small town called Alcala de Xivert located 10 min. away - don't miss its farmers' market on Friday morning!)) and I am very attached to all my wonderful memories. After moving away to Valencia for College and later to United States, I've continued going there every summer and every time I have the change, for it's a wonderful place full of charm and fond memories. I have been living in California for the past 9 years, and I don't get to enjoy my house as much as I would like to. I go for 4 to 6 weeks in the summer and bring my 6 year-old along so he can also enjoy everything that the Spanish culture has to offer. We also only speak Spanish to each other so it's perfect! We normally stay with my mom because we don't see her very often, and I love her cooking! I wish I could spend more time there but, unfortunately, it's a bit far away :-) Good news is that you can enjoy it too!!
