Welcome to Logjam on the Pine. We are located near the headwaters of the Pine River, one of Michigan's premiere trout streams. The cottage is between Luther and LeRoy Michigan and just a short 12 miles south of Cadillac. Far upriver from the busy canoe liveries and campgrounds we offer a truly unique fishing and kayaking experience. With its swift currents and deep runs, plus its vast population of wild brook and brown trout, as well as the states largest population of nonmigratory rainbow, this remote stretch of the Pine will challenge even hardcore river enthusiasts.
Three miles north of the cottage lays the gateway to the Manistee National Forest with its 533,000 acre expanse. The forest offers countless activities for the ourdoorsman, from its abundance of small and large game, to its miles of ORV and snowmobile trails.
The Logjam is owned and hosted by Lori and Jerry Horan. Jerry is a nationally recognized artist who specializes in watercolor originals and driftwood carvings. Limited edition prints are also available at the onsite art studio.
An avid fisherman in his own right, Jerry holds Logjam's record for the largest trout - a 24 1/2 inch brown.
Rental of this property affords you a private 1 acre stretch of the Pine River for fishing, swimming and tubing. On the site is a stocked personal fire pit for stream side cook-outs. A fishing guide is available for stretches of the river, both up stream and down. Rental tubes and kayaks are available.
Once settled, a short drive to the Bristol Store will keep you supplied with everything from night crawlers to hand dipped ice cream. Please consider the Logjam for your next family getaway. P.S. We now have new mattresses for your added comfort..

We keep coming back!

The Logjam on the Pine has become a yearly (and always eagerly anticipated) vacation spot for my husband and I. We have been traveling to northern Michigan during the winter for years to enjoy our shared passion for snowmobiling. We have stayed at numerous other cabins and hotels in the Cadillac area, but NONE of them compare to what we have found at the Logjam. For three years now, it has become our home away from home, and embodies everything that we love about northern Michigan and all that it has to offer. Every year, when the snow starts to fall, we eagerly start to plan our next trip to Jerry and Lori's beautiful cabin. When we arrive, Jerry and Lori are always more than hospitable and make sure that our stay is as comfortable as possible. The atmosphere is clean and cozy, complete with lovely artwork and decor that reflects on the rugged nature just outside the cabin door. And, for snowmobiling, the location couldn't be better, as it's located just afew miles away from the Bristol gas station and the Bristol trailhead. We just love everything about this place and can't imagine a season of snowmobiling without a weekend or two at the Logjam! We're still trying to find an excuse to make a summer trip, as well. Maybe we'll have to take up fishing :)

Owner response:One afternoon I taught a chicken to fly fish. So there is hope for you, Greg. We would love having you guys up over the summer for a little trout fishing and kayking. Think about it, the "rib-eyes" from the Bristol Store can't be beat. Enjoyed seeing you and Liz again. Thanks for choosing the Logjam. Lori & Jerry

Relaxing Week @ Logjam on the Pine

Guest: Beth (Highland, IL)
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/13/11

My family and I just returned from our week-long trip to the Logjam. It was a gorgeous area. The cabin was perfect for the five of us and our dog. There was plenty of room for the dog and my small child to run around. The river was beautiful. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a great place to relax or enjoy outdoor activities. Thank you for an amazing week Jerry & Lori! We loved it!

Owner response:Beth, thank you for your kind review. We enjoyed having you an your family for the week, and hope you return. Jerryand Lori

Good Time @ Logjam!

We enjoyed our stay at Logjam this spring. It is truly a pet friendly place, which is hard to find. The owners were charming and helped us launch our canoe in the Pine River. The property is quiet and very quaint. We really liked the owner's art and purchased a frog on a log carving as a memory of our fun trip.

Owner response:Thanks for sharing your information on local mushrooms. We are still on the hunt for thenew ones you told us about. Glad you liked the frog carving. Please visit us again. Lori and Jerry

Awesome Cabin

Guest: B & T (Lansing area)
Date of Stay: 01/28/11 Review Submitted: 02/11/11

We recently stayed at this awesome cabin. We can't wait to go back in the summer to kayak and fish! This cabin is very clean, cozy, and roomy. Tons of space. The pictures and descriptions don't do this cabin justice! The only thing we had to do was arrive, supply our own food and enjoy. There is a cute little store about a mile and a half away where we purchased some supplies and gas. We also ate breakfast at a little diner in Tustin that was excellent. It was very easy to get to this cabin. We would recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to get away without having to leave our beautiful state. !

Owner response:Thanks guys glad you enjoyed your stay. Lori and I look forward to your next visit this summer. Just let us know when and we will reserve your dates. Thanks again,Jerry

Good up north getaway!

Guest: Lynda (Plymouth, MI)
Date of Stay: 12/30/10 Review Submitted: 01/02/11

Stayed at this clean and well appointed cabin for New Years Eve 2011. It was spacious and cozy. The setting is beautiful; the cabin is homey with plenty of space for 4 adults; the kitchen had all the pots, pans and dishes we needed, and the Direct TV box kept us occupied when Mother Nature rained us out of snowboarding. My only real complaint was the mattresses were quite old and very uncomfortable, but otherwise, this cabin offered a lovely weekend getaway from the big city. Recommend grocery shopping before arriving, as it is a 15 minute drive into Cadillac to a "real" grocery store....

Owner response:Lynda we now have brand new mattresses and we have you to thank. Enjoy your next visit.......Jerry and Lori
