Get ready to find your inner self and enjoy the peaceful tranquility that the North GA Mountains have to offer. Just come as you are and leave your stress behind for a couple of days or a couple of weeks.
Don’t be surprised when strangers wave and say hello, this is hard to find in today’s big cities, but that same easy going and wondrous lifestyle still exist in these mountains.
Be sure to check your old baggage at the Mountain’s footstep- pollution, traffic jams, loud planes, running late, confusing, crime, and stress; the bears, beavers, deer, eagles, wild turkeys and all the other wildlife want to keep it Simple, Clean, Fresh, and Peaceful.
We invite you and your family to our home, “Eye Candy” a.k.a. "The Overlook" at Lake Chatuge; nestled in Ramey Mountain, high above the trees with Breathtaking Million Dollar Views Year Round!!! Just a few hundred feet from the protected United States National Forest, experience the Peace and Tranquility that the North Georgia Mountains have to offer.
Our guests can best describe "The Overlook" at Lake Chatuge:
"A marvelous view, almost beyond words. You just have to see it. This mountain getaway has it all. It is quiet and relaxing, yet not too far from food and fun. Many excellent places to eat and shop nearby."
"The atmosphere is charming and the home has all the necessary amenities. The wrap around deck is accessible from each bedroom. Take advantage of the grill on the deck or just spend some quiet time there. You must experience the hot tub at night and the sunrise in the morning. One of the better places we've stayed in some time."
"What more can I say than AWESOME! This vacation rental is by far the best rental property I have stayed at in the North Georgia Mountains. The view of Lake Chatuge is breath-taking!"
"The rooms are spacious and the Great Room and all bedrooms have a wonderful view of the lake. This home away from home is warm, inviting, meticulously clean and decorated with a cozy mountain flair."
"My family of 6 was more than comfortable with all the amenities provided. We only wish we could have stayed longer as the hot tub and spectacular view were delightful and so relaxing - the highlight of our trip! We cannot wait to go back and are planning our next visit this summer."
"Very relaxing 3 days! I still can't get over the views. I could sit in that hot tub forever enjoying that scenery."
"The split living plan was perfect for our peace of mind - kept the kids quietly separate. Place was spotless - and to answer an early question from you - I think all the kitchen provisions were perfect - nothing else I could think to add."
"I liked the central location to all the surrounding attractions. The variety of quality restaurants up there is very good - I can't remember the name, but when you exit the community onto the main lakeside road, there is a great seafood place about 200 yards to the left on the lakefront, by the marina."
"Good prices - GREAT Food! Can't wait to come back up this summer to do some boating!"
"Great place overall! Good luck with your new rental venture - I'm sure you won't have much problem keeping it filled up"

Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
Our first Holiday Season that we spent in the mountains. Beautiful weather and scenery year round, the hot tub is a lot of fun during the cool nights.
Why the Owner Chose Hiawassee
Our Family visited the area for the first time in 2004. It was love at first site, the people were so friendly and the landscape was so breathtaking, we knew right then this would be our final destination, where we would love to spend our vacations for years to come, and create many positive memories for our Family. I can't wait until the we can move up to the mountains and make our vacation home our permanent home.
The Unique Benefits of this Chalet
There is something about waking up every morning and admiring the breathtaking landscape before you. The fresh air and the serenity of what nature has to offer. We love the wrap around deck that has great views from every spot. Our hot tub is so relaxing and also has million-dollar views day or night. Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves just to make sure we are not dreaming!

Upon arrival the homeowner called my cell phone to see if we got in ok....it was like Dad checking in on his kids which I thought was very thoughtful especially since it was kinda late. I will warn people that are not use to the elevation height it's a very steep road but like they say it's a long way to the top and to the top it was. This home is sitting on the top of this mountain which gives you the best views you could imagine. The hot tub on the back deck was our favorite part....sitting at night overlooking that lakes and mountains was priceless. We are outdoor's people and the hiking in the area was amazing. We would book this place again and can't wait to bring our daughter next time. Sincerely, The Reali's
Owner response:We are always pleased to hear from our guest and enjoy reading the reviews. We always do our best to contact all of our guest upon their arrival, just to make sure that everything is to their satisfaction and answer any questions they may have about the fireplace, hot -tub, or where to get something to eat. I admit my first short 1.2 mile trip up the mountain in my compact car did seem to be a little steep, but then again I'm what the Hiawassee locals call a flat lander. After a couple of trips up and down the mountain it's really a piece of cake. I have to agree that the deck and the hot -tub is my favorite area to unwind and enjoy what nature has to offer.

I chose this property for several reasons - 1) the exquisite view; 2) the vast deck & comfy hot tub; 3) the split bedroom plan; 4) the glowing Reviews that I read, and 5) the fact that it was a single level house, (easier on my physical challenges). Although we were aware of the beautiful scenery of north Georgia, my family and I, having attended a family reunion in West Virginia, were content to spend most of our time in the comfort of this beautiful house, recuperating and recharging. I found the owner very easy to communicate with and appreciated his attentiveness regarding our stay. I was also glad that he accepted Paypal. It made everything very convenient. Can't wait to go back!

We truly enjoyed the tranquil peace of the mountain top. The chalet was cozy with spectacular views of the mountains and Lake Chatuge. We had a great time.
Owner response:Although we strive for a five, we're glad you had a great time. Please come back and visit soon, the Spring, Summer or Fall - I believe we could have got a five, if you could have stay at least 3 days to 7 days - 2 days just goes by too quickly. Thanks for the review!!!

Doug and Beckie, Thanks so much for opening your incredible home to us! It was the perfect romantic getaway for us "almost empty-nesters"! The view is truly something you must see to believe---the incredible blue water of the lake, the mountains, and we had the gorgeous fall colors thrown in as a bonus! Sitting in the hot tub gazing at the moon and stars was the perfect end to each day...the weekend was over way too soon! House was immaculate....had everything we needed and more...can't wait until we can go back again! Owners were great to work with...very attentive and accomodating !!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Hiawassee. The property is very easy to find and only minutes from Hiawassee and Young Harris. The cabin was lovely and very clean. The layout was quite spacious and comfortable. The owner was meticulous in labeling and providing instructions when needed - making everything very easy to use, including the hot tub. The deck was our favorite hangout. The mountain and lake views were breathtaking, particularly in the morning with low hanging clouds right on the water. We enjoyed fireworks over the lake on the holiday weekend. I would definitely recommend this spot to others. I'm looking forward to planning another trip before the end of the year.

After reading some of the reviews, I decided to book the Overlook. The neighborhood is upscale and we felt very safe. Jet Ski and boat rentals across the street, a movie theater next door and a spotless beach a couple of miles down the road. We visited the town of Helen, Brasstown Bald and the Outlet Mall in Dawsonville. Lots to see and do. The view off of the deck is a million dollar view. We tried to capture it with pictures( with no luck) it has to be seen in person to be appreciated. For the price I paid it was a steal. Thanks for sharing your home.

Renting mountain homes is something we do very frequently, at least 3 times a year, so over the past 10 years we have stayed in numerous homes in the GA and NC area and truly no view can compare to the one your home offers. It is an awe-inspiring view that triggers a calming, peaceful feeling to come over you every time you look outside. One morning the valley below was blanketed in a cloud-like fog and the immense beauty made us feel like we were in heaven. I also want to express my sincere appreciation for all of the hard work you did to make our Thanksgiving celebration a very special event. We were so surprised to find the beautiful Christmas tree and festive decorations throughout the house, and the fresh flowers in vases was very hospitable as well. We instantly felt very welcomed. Something else that makes you stand out from the other homeowners we’ve rented from was the friendly follow-up call you made to confirm everything was to our satisfaction, and when you discovered the internet wasn’t working, how quickly you moved to get it fixed. We were very impressed. Before leaving I asked my two nieces (ages 16 & 11) how they would rate your home on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the absolute best and the 16-year-old quickly answered, “13!” We all agree with her, so you can count on us to come again!

Words cannot express nor photos capture the true beauty of the view from this property! It is definitely one of God's masterpieces. Our week here was wonderful. The home was beautiful, clean, comfortable and very well stocked (lots of little extras like laundry soap, spices, etc., and more dishes and appliances than you'll ever need) The hottub was the highlight, with the cool evenings and the dramatic view. The weather was great - the a/c never kicked on - with brisk mornings and cool evenings. The neighborhood is gorgeous, and walks there replace your gym workout! Unless you just love tourist trap shopping - just drive through Helen to see the view and photo ops. Your time is better spent at the local waterfalls (no you cannot see them all in one day) and outdoor attractions. Big Al's pizza was Delicious and we had the sweetest little waitress ever! The folks at the Hiawassee Antique Mall are so nice and go all out to help you. (They made a ton of phone calls to arrange an economical delivery of a furniture purchase to Fl for us.) We never made it to the local lake, but plan to on the next visit. Rafted the Ocoee in TN - Awesome!! Distance wise you're very close to many activities, but because you're in the mountains it takes about an hour. The scenery is beautiful, so the drives don't seem long, and there are a million views to photograph. Doug was extremely helpful in arranging our trip, as it was kind of last minute, and checking in with us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We have told all of our friends to visit here and we will definitely be back! Thanks Doug and Beckie for sharing you gorgeous home with us. It was one of our best vacations ever!
