Casita vacation rental - near Bisbee.
This casita is one 430 square foot room ... so your experience here will be an intimate one in the beautiful High Desert of Arizona.
Located just outside Bisbee, AZ. There is an attached bi-level deck overlooking a deep-cut wash. The deck is great for enjoying a morning cup of coffee, an evening glass of wine, marveling at the awesome colors of a western sunset, or counting the uncountable stars as they twinkle on while forming the spectacle of the milky way galaxy. To the west you can watch the city lights of Sierra Vista blink on, to the east nothing but natural darkness.
Some of the birds we have observed are sparrows, brown towhees, house finches, black headed grosbeaks, northern cardinals, northern orioles, scott orioles, tanagers, pyrrhuloxias, brown headed cow birds, curve billed thrashers, cactus wrens, ravens, scrub jays, hummingbirds, owls, road runners, doves, gambrel's quail, perrigrinne falcons, red tailed hawks, turkey vultures, bats and several LGB's (little gray birds).
The interior of the casita is one open room. The tin ceiling has rough hewn beams and wooden vegas. The walls are hand trowel white washed stucco. The kitchen is an efficient L shape with a 5' peninsula with cabinets are custom crafted, built in with wood doors and drawers. Above the cabinets are wood slab shelves. The countertops are saltillo look-a-like ceramic. The floor is authentic Mexican saltillo tile.
There are seven operable windows providing excellent ventilation. The entry door is all glass providing a great view to the west. There is a picture window overlooking the deck and framing the rather impressive hill to the north.
The property nestles in the foothills of the Mule mountains overlooking the Huachuca (gazoontite) mountains, the city of Sierra Vista, and the San Pedro river valley. No landscaping has been done as the terrain has been left in its natural state. Considered high desert the flora includes prickly pear cactus, agave, and ocotillo with deer, javalina, coyote, and an occasional bobcat or kutamundi roaming thru mixed with free range cattle. The property is off grid and 100% solar. The well is 1055 feet deep providing delicious, crystal-clear, healthy water from deep within mother earth.
The sprawling metropolis of Sierra Vista (population 42,000) is a 30 minute drive away with all the shopping a person could want or need. The nearby city of Bisbee is a 15 minute drive and must be experienced to be appreciated. And we have our own Starbuck's. Sorry, no McDonald's. When describing Bisbee one would have to begin with the adjective 'different', but in a most appealing and delightful way. Bisbee is one of the main reasons the property is so desirable.
Bisbee has been featured in the Sunset and Arizona Highways magazines and has been rated among the top ten retirement destinations in America. Arizona Highways has featured the top 15 restaurants in Arizona and Bisbee has two of them. Bisbee sits near the Mexican border. Charming and historic it was originally a Calumet and Arizona Mining Company town. Bisbee boasts a great museum and mine tour. The mine has shut down its commercial operations and Bisbee is now an artist's Mecca with galleries and shops and many bed and breakfast's. The Copper Queen Hotel is famed and historic. Yet Bisbee is still a sleepy town with only 2 stoplights which are located outside the downtown area. For more info about nearby historic, nostalgic Bisbee go to cityofbisbee website.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2005
I came to Bisbee, AZ to be near my aging parent's and found that I was charmed by the whole area. I found a niche working in one of the many art galleries. It is owned by a Homeless Shelter for women and their children so I am also involved in helping in the community. Coming from a noisy crowded big city I desired more seclusion and quiet. Even Old Bisbee wasn't quite for me. My casita is set off grid and the trade off for serenity and seclusion is for me. I have cultivated the local birds and tried to be as low impact as possible. I'm a country girl and need the great outdoors to walk in and the limitless stars to be my night lights. Even though I love my little casita I'm reaching even farther and want to try the open seas. The Sea of Cortez is calling me now that I've gotten close to retirement. And so I now invite you to enjoy my casita as much as I have. Mi casa, su casa. (P.S. E-Mail is not checked every day. Please call for an immediate response.)
Why the Owner Chose Bisbee
I chose this area for the casita mainly because of the scenery and wonderful, year-round climate. The nearby city of Bisbee was an unexpected bonus. The WILD, WILD WEST is also available a short drive away in nearby Tombstone.
The Unique Benefits of this Casita
While staying at the casita I enjoy all the high desert has to offer such as hiking, bird watching, star gazing, and just plain lazing. Bisbee is also a short drive away with all that it has to offer. Pay attention here... We have about 4 miles of very picturesque dirt road. So when driving in your town car drive slowly. If you want more speed drive a pickup truck or SUV. We find the road desirable because it cuts way down on sightseers and traffic in general. We LIKE the seclusion and quiet a long country road provides.
