Why the Owner Chose Whale Point
A few years ago, a friend took Steve to Eleuthera for a visit and he fell in love with the place. Whale Point Cottage is surrounded by stunning scenery. The Atlantic is a short walk from the back patio and the calm, turquoise waters of the bay are just across the road on the other side. We always run out of time exploring all that is around us.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
There are two bikes in the shed, boogie boards under the house and we are looking to add a boat or two. Don't forget to bring your snorkel gear, there are lots of nearby places that are waiting for you to explore. Just a short walk north along the coast yields treasures galore to delight any serious any beach comber. There is amazing spelunking just a short drive away. And the list of water things to do seems never ending.

The best 'getaway' ever

We booked not really knowing what to expect but hoping for a relaxing getaway. When we arrived at the airport we were greeted by the Bahamian cottage keeper, Red. He made sure everything was in order with the rental car and then we took off on a mini tour of the area between airport and cottage. Red showed us grocery stores, fruit stands, a liquor store (expensive!), the bread lady's cottage, gas station, bank, etc. He led the way to whalepoint and the cottage and made sure we had everything and that the cottage was in order (which it was). The weather cooperated most of the time and we found the most amazing beaches (with nary a soul present) while exploring along the coast. The biggest issue might have been that we did not have enough days to explore all the beaches. One might need months to see every single one. There were turtles everywhere, bonefish for those that are interested, small reefs to explore, great cliff walking, and a fine hammock that we wrestled over every day right on the porch. The only restaurant in walking distance had somewhat unreliable hours but the closest pub in driving distance is very local and colorful and, if you're lucky, you'll be able to hear and see Lenny Kravitz jam, if he's in town. We didn't but maybe next time. Overall, we loved it and would go back anytime. We'd bring more (frozen) food with us but that's about it.

Great small home for 2 or 4 on a very rocky coast of unswimable waters of the Atlantic...stunning beauty but not a beach by any means. The beach of the bay behind house is a short walk and filled with giant starfish and turtles, and many other gorgeous beaches are within a 20 minute drive. Make sure you rent a car !! Food is available at a distance and restaurants of quality are few and far between. Overall a 7.5
Recommended for:Age 55+.
