In this exclusive "West Bank" (west bank of the Snake River) Wilson neighborhood - just 15 minutes from downtown Jackson, a small number of distinctive homes are set in the trees nestled against the foothills of the Tetons - and one of them - Rivermeadows Retreat - can be yours to enjoy for a week or longer.

In fact, 10 people can enjoy this home for a week at a cost far less than that of many local hotels. This is a brand new home, just furnished and listed on VRBO in summer 2009.

A beautifully proportioned custom log and stone home, the 4,960 square-foot Rivermeadows Retreat is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends while basking in luxury and style and enjoying all that Jackson Hole has to offer.

On a bermed corner lot, adjacent to 15 acres of covenant-restricted open space, the landscaping and nearby forest provide privacy - and ensure that moose, deer and many birds are not far. The home also includes a 800 square-foot detached garage.

The front porch gives the house a welcoming, inviting feel; the front door opens to foyer, from which two staircases take you either to the office/loft and 4 bedrooms above or to the family/recreation room and home theatre below. From the front door, you can appreciate the 12”-14" variable hand-peeled, hand-scribed spruce logs.

The custom log home includes three floors. The main floor features a entry hall and closets, half bathroom, great room, kitchen/dining area, pantry, laundry room, master suite (bedroom, his/hers closets, master bathroom), and deck.

The upper floor features a loft/office, 4 bedrooms, and 2 full bathrooms. The lower floor features a recreation room, half bathroom, and home theater room.

On the main floor, the foyer gives way to a large great room with 20'-high ceilings and custom purlins and beams logwork. The giant picture windows provide an abundance of light and stunning views of the adjacent open space; doors open up onto the large deck.

The great room is warm and bright, and the décor is comfortable and tasteful: there are deep soft leather couches, wood tables, kilim rugs, and well-framed works of art. Every appealing seat seems to have a reading light set generously beside it.

A drystacked ledgestone fireplace rises up to meet the ceiling and includes a Green River fossil mantle and slate hearth; the warmth of the room is achieved, in great part, by the hickory floors, the border of which is inlaid black walnut. Curl up on one of the couches to enjoy a good read by the fire, or watch your favorite flick on the 40" flat screen. Books and games fill the shelves.

From the great room, you enter the large kitchen. Even the kitchen includes luxury in its recipe. Meals are fun to prepare in the professional kitchen; granite countertops, alder cabinets, 2 undermount sinks, and Viking appliances bring out the cook in you:

-Viking 48” Professional Series (stainless) Range with 6 burners, griddle, and double convection oven;
-Viking 48” Professional Series (stainless) hood vent with heat lamps;
-Viking 48” Professional Series (stainless) refrigerator with ice maker;
-Viking Professional Series (stainless) dishwasher;
-Viking microwave (stainless);
-U-Line beverage center/mini-fridge under-counter in kitchen-bar area.

Send your grocery and supplies list in advance of your arrival, and the onsite caretaker will stock the fridge/pantry. Onsite professional chef can also prepare delicious, gourmet meals for your group (pricing and menus available).

For family meals, the quarter-sawn round oak table seats 8 and is complemented by 4 barstools at the spacious peninsula. Doors open onto the deck, where additional seating provides the perfect place to enjoy a summer BBQ. The kitchen also has a pantry for stocking your supplies. A large laundry room is accessed off of the kitchen and includes a side entry and easy route to the garage.

There are five bedrooms at Rivermeadows Retreat – the master, on the main floor, which features a suite of rooms including a large bedroom with comfortable king bed, his/hers walk-in closets with motion-detect lights featuring rows of custom shelves and more-than-ample storage, and a master bath with large jetted tub, Euro-style shower, double sinks, and powder room. Again, large windows overlook the adjacent treed open space.

There are four comfortable bedrooms on the upper floor with a combination of queen, full, and twin beds. Each pair of bedrooms shares a slate or travertine bathroom - one with jetted tub and one with Euro-style shower, and between the bedrooms/bathrooms is a spacious loft that can be used for work or play.

On the lower level, there is more opportunity for entertainment - pool and foosball tables flank another set of comfortable leather couches and another 40" flat screen for those who want to catch the game.

A wet bar means you need not go up to the kitchen for a snack. If the big screen is what you most appreciate, enjoy a movie in the state-of-the-art home theater on the 110" HD screen with Dolby 5.1.

The details of the home - solid alder doors; oil-rubbed bronze fixtures; 5-zone heating; closets in each bedroom for a great deal of storage, fun western touches - and its furnishings mean that true to its name, Rivermeadows Retreat is truly a place to relax.

Here you can appreciate the nature that makes Jackson Hole so special, and enjoy time in a home that provides both comfortable shared space and privacy. It is a lovely, quiet place.

Many animals move across the property - in and out of the nearby forest and to and from the nearby riparian area and river: moose, elk, deer, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, great horned owls, coyotes, and red fox.

Rivermeadows Retreat is a very fine place to spend your time - a restful, peaceful home that affords both privacy and convenience to all of the things you'll want to do while in the area.

Why the Owner Chose Wilson

Decades ago, Teddy Roosevelt called Jackson Hole "the most beautiful place on earth," an observation that we believe still holds true today. The house was built after living in Jackson Hole for years and falling in love with its beauty and charm. Specifically, the house was built in Wilson because the location offers proximity to both Jackson and Teton Village so as to be convenient, but is out of the fray of "downtown." It is a beautiful, peaceful property, and great care was taken in its construction and furnishing. It is the perfect place for a family or group of friends, as it has lots of comfortable living area and the chance to both share space in common and to be alone. The home's surroundings afford treed views; moose regularly wander through the yard; and the drive to and from the house features the Tetons, Fish Creek, conserved property, agricultural meadows - all those things that make Wyoming, Wyoming.

For those who may not know:
Jackson - small western town that is the southern gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
Jackson Hole - the valley in which Jackson is located (often used interchangeably with the name of the town), but to locals is a broader area.
Wilson - exclusive zip code at the base of Teton Pass; 10-15 minutes from downtown Jackson and close to Teton Village (ski area) as well.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Travel easily into Jackson and beyond to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park or over Teton Pass into Idaho; sit in the great room and enjoy the beautiful views; get comfortable on the leather couches in front of the floor-to-ceiling fireplace; share a meal cooked in the professional kitchen; play pool, foosball, or catch the game on the 40" flat screen in the rec room; take advantage of adjacent National Forest and private Snake River access exclusive to this property's neighborhood; watch a movie in the cinema-quality HD home theater on the 110" screen; perfect your birding skills while sitting on the deck; take a luxurious bath in one of the jetted tubs; catch-up on your sleep in the comfort of one of the five bedrooms; have a memorable vacation in this home away from home.

Did you know the Jackson Hole is part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem - the largest, intact temperate ecosystem in the Lower 48? From Jackson, you can access 7 national forests, 2 national parks, 3 national wildlife refuges, and 3 states! The relatively small percentage of private land in Jackson Hole (less than 10%) makes up the open meadows that frame the most scenic views, the pastures on which cattle still graze to offer visitors a taste of the real, working Old West, and the Blue Ribbon rivers and streams that give you the chance to catch a trout of a lifetime. Jackson Hole still features the full complement of species present at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition, and mean you shouldn't forget your camera: elk, moose, deer, bison, bears, wolves, eagles, hawks, trumpeter swans, sand hill cranes, curlew, and more...

Great location, beautiful home, plenty of room

We just returned from WY and had a wonderful stay at this gorgeous home. We shared the home with another family. Everyone was comfortable and had plenty of room to spread out. Great mid-location to get to Grand Teton Park, Teton Village or town of Jackson Hole, while still being secluded for nature walks and privacy. Equipped with all the amenities and nice decorative touches. We love to cook, so we really enjoyed preparing family dinners in the gourmet kitchen! The owner was available for questions and provided an table full of guides and big book of her own recommended lists restaurants, sites, and activities. Highly recommend this property!

My family of 10 and I just returned from an incredible week spent at this absolutely gorgeous and impeccably decorated home. Every single detail was accounted for by the owners and we could not have experienced any better. I would, without hesitation, recommend this amazing home to anyone thinking about staying in the Jackson area. I can't wait to come back!

We Really enjoyed your lovely home. Everything was nice and fresh, with plenty of room. The gourmet kitchen was wonderful,along with the other amentities. The location was great, conveninet to Jackson and shopping, but secluded enough to enjoy the beautiful setting. Even with two families, we had plenty of room. The Ryans were great hosts. Hope we can do it again. Anyone who wishes to stay in a lovely home in the Jackson area will not be disappointed!

This property is absolutely beautiful. The house is large, comfortable, clean, and very well equipped. (And we're used to premium equipment) There is also impressive attention to every detail you could imagine, and this goes for everything from decor to being well stocked up with necessary vacation items. The location is perfect, as it's only 5-10 minutes from Wilson, and then just another 10min to Jackson. (There's also a beautiful, scenic road to take in the other direction) The house is in a quaint, wooded, neighborhood. Another distinction is the level of service. The landlords were very attentive and responsive to any questions,etc. Between the service, help with activities, etc. from the landlords, the level of service is more comprable to that of a professional vacation club than a rental. Great place to spend your summer!

Wow! The house for sure made our vacation. It's dramatic by any standard, yet incredibly warm. We had two families and we still had ample room. The house is appointed with the finest accessories and everything is perfectly stocked. The owners thought of every detail. The location is beautiful. We were all very pleased with the location, being a short drive into Wilson with lots of good places to eat, and a few more minutes from the bustling city of Jackson. The true test...the kids. They already want to go back. If you're looking to rent in Wilson/Jackson, this is the house you want. I've done this a lot and have never felt so fortunate. THanks!!!!

We stayed at the cabin with another family and there was ample room for everyone. If you love to cook this is the place for you, as not many homes that are rented on vrbo have viking kitchen amenities. It was great for the kids especially since they could all hang out downstairs, while the adults conversed upstairs. Had a great time and we'll be back.

We just returned last night from our week stay at the log home. It was so incredible, warm and inviting that we did not want to leave. We were a family of six so we only used 4 of the bedrooms which are all beautiful and comfortable. The bathrooms were like those in a wonderful boutique hotel.The kitchen is very large with everything you could imagine to have gourmet meals. It turned out to be the hub of the home for us and is big enough for 10 people to gather with room to spare. We all enjoyed the pool table and of course had a nightly movie in the media room. We rented movies at the red box at Albertsons in Jackson. The drive out to the house was so scenic and one evening at about 8:00 we saw a female moose when we turned into the neighborhood and then the following evening a bull moose at the same place. The neighborhood is quite and you don't even know or see other houses when you are there. The decor of the home is just beautiful and everyday my daughter-in-law and I discovered a new print, painting or piece of needlework to admire. In addition, Brendan and Lara were just super. They were so helpful in giving us info on activities, shopping, sightseeing etc. We highly recommend this beautiful home and can't wait to stay here again ourselves. Our stay at the log cabin home far exceeded our expectations. The home’s craftsmanship is top of the line, including an extraordinary design and luxurious furniture. We had a lot of rain during our stay, but it didn’t affect us because the house was full of family activities. The house is so inviting with its unique lay out, western décor, game room, movie room, and outside deck. The big windows allowed us to view abundant wildlife and a heavily wooded forest. The location was close to town and Teton National Park. It truly gave us a genuine Jackson Hole experience.
