What a great place to stay. Everything you could possibly need from a vacation rental and more. Being so close to town with all it has to offer was great and yet, coming back to the apartment in the evening was always something to look forward to, as it was so quiet and relaxing. Best of both worlds. Many thanks to Kim and Ed who made our stay easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend this lovely place to people wanting to visit the Bay Area. A real find.

This was a great place to stay in a quiet area but close enough to town to do anything. The owners are very friendly and willing to h elp in anyway they can with your stay. The facilities are first rate and I would definitely stay here again.

A wonderful place to stay with all amenities

We stayed here in summer 2011 for a week and had a wonderful experience. Kim and Ed are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, and our children loved Cody the dog who played ball, but was also happy to lay down or wander off when they had had enough. For us the pool was fantastic, we used it every day, extremely warm water (it has an electric cover that you use to cover when not in use - just turn the key - the kids liked doing this!) There are plenty of pool toys for your use, water guns etc, and we had sole use of it. There are sun loungers by the pool and tables and chairs which you can move around, and we used the outdoor grill one evening. The compact house is top notch, very clean and stylishly decorated. The small kitchen has everything you need to self cater. There is no washing machine in the guest house, but Kim said we could use the house machine, however with my sister in law nearby we didn't need to ask in the end. The bathroom looked brand new, fluffy new towels, large shower, and very light and airy due to a skylight. The house is situtaed in the very peaceful Los Gatos Foothills at what I would call the San Jose end of Los Gatos - you'll need car to get around. I would most definately recommend this property. We are a family of four with children aged 14 and 11, and it accomodated us perfectly.

What a great time we had coming back every evening to what we called our "home" for a week. It was so nice and comfortable with plenty of space. There was a full size fridge and oven so we took advantage of that and cooked most mornings. I would stay here again in the future! I wish we could have stayed even longer. It was a perfect location with easy access to the freeway and only 15 minutes from down town shopping!

Quick drive to Saratoga

This was a great location for us to visit our relatives in Saratoga. The wireless internet connection wasn't always reliable. It worked in the evening, but not always in the day. We had good 3G signal on our smart phones though, so it wasn't a big deal for us. The rooms were nicely furnished and there was an eclectic DVD/VHS selection with cable. The shower was a bit cramped, like one you might find in an RV, and the shower head hadn’t been updated in some time. Everything was super clean and well maintained otherwise. The ceiling fans and A/C were VERY welcomed when returning from a hot day outside.

Owner response:Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, since we are in the hills our internet can sometimes be temperamental. Thanks for the comment about the shower head - we put on a new one this weekend. As far as shower size, it is a standard shower size and we have not had issues in the 8 years of renting - we do also have 2 showers in the downstairs bathrooms that may be a little larger.

2 Month stay

My wife and I stayed at this home for two months after moving to the US from the UK and looking for a place to buy. It is situated in a great location - a few minutes drive from Downtown Los Gatos. It is very private and has a great pool / hot tub area where you can enjoy the California sun. Inside the home is very comfortable and well equipped - although a bigger couch would be welcome for those that like to snuggle in front of the TV. The owners have dogs - but they are very friendly and fun. But most of all - Ed and Kim were really welcoming and accomodating. We have made new friends. Definately recommended.

Fantastic Rental Property

My wife, two young children and I stayed at the guesthouse while our home was being remodeled. The property is situated in a beautiful, relatively secluded part of Los Gatos yet barely ten minutes from downtown. The peaceful countryside location, proximity to Los Gatos and San Jose and the modern, comfortable, clean and well appointed guesthouse was the perfect, stress-free home-away-from-home during our remodel. Furthermore our hosts, who live in the adjoining property (via a covered walkway) maintained the perfect balance of respectful distance and willing availability. We barely knew we had them as neighbors but they were always ready with a warm hello or available to answer any questions. I heartily recommend staying at the guesthouse - it was perfect for our family of four during our remodel but, knowing the area well, I can also recommend it as a fantastic vacation rental for a couple or small family looking for a base from which to explore the South Bay.

Family Vacation

We had a great time staying at the guest house last summer. We were visiting with family in the area, but didn't want to overwhelm our relatives with our large family. The guest house was clean, and had everything we needed. Our kids loved playing with the dogs and feeding carrots to the horses. We spent hours in the beautiful heated pool. Thanks Kim for a lovely relaxing spot to vacation.

Wonderful Stay at Los Gatos Guest House

We had a wonderful stay for the month of August at the Los Gatos Guest house. Kim and Ed were very accomodating and respected our privacy. The property has a lot to offer with pool, hot tube, outdoor BBQ (all of which we had virtually to ourselves). The property has easy access to great walking trails and the areas of Los Gatos and Saratoga have a tremendous amount of outdoor activities and easy access to SF and San Jose. As Kim will tell you, the family includes a few animals...dogs a cat and a couple of horses...they are very friendly. We enjoyed getting to know them!

Los Gatos Getaway

For 10 super days in August 2010, my wife and I stayed at Kim's Los Gatos holiday rental. Although from the UK, we have used VRBO extensively for vacation accomodation in the USA over the past 8 years. We have always been delighted with accomodation booked through VRBO, but Kim's place was up there among the absolute best. The listing is very accurately described and was presented to an extremely high standard of decor, comfort and cleanliness. Ahead of our stay, Kim was extremely helpful and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The location is quiet and peaceful, and the property amenities are first class. Kim and her family will make you feel completely at home and my wife and I would definitely return; we had a most marvellous, restful holiday and I gladly give the strongest possible recommendation for this property.

We enjoyed the stay at this lovely home. The kids loved the pool and hot tub. They also fell in love with the doggies that greeted you when you arrive. Our hosts were very accomodating. The place was clean, spacious and well stocked with all the essentials. It was close to town but you have to drive as the road is too busy to walk on. My two teenage daughters and I stayed here in March 2010 while visiting family in the area. The guest house is very comfortable -- so much nicer than a hotel room! The furnishings are very nice, the kitchen is beautiful, and the wifi was very convenient. The location is very peaceful, but just minutes away from Los Gatos. Kim was very accommodating of both our last minute booking and our request to extend our stay. I've recommended the guest house to others and look forward to returning!

Having just spent 6 weeks Jan/Feb 2010, I know the property well! A fabulous location for a private retreat or to experience all of the wonders of the South Bay Area. Excellent access to easy/ moderate trails for cycling or hiking (even a great two mile loop right from the property). The accomodation has a great floor plan and really does "live big". All the mod-coms and a well equipped kitchen. I can only imagine a season where the beautiful pool and grounds were more usable! Recommended with enthusiasm.

I stayed in the MacBeth guest house for 2 1/2 mts.(April-June) I worked in San Jose in a traveling position during this time. I feel I couldn't have had a better experience! Coming back to Kim and Ed's peaceful,beautiful property and cozy apt. each evening made my time here that much more enjoyable. The area is ideal for fun day trips as well as great hiking/cycling trails at your fingertips. The town of Los Gatos has much to offer also. I loved my stay here. Kim and her family were very accommodating during our stay at the Los Gatos Guesthouse. Although the property is listed with one bathroom, we were able to use the pool bathroom as our second bathroom, which was helpful for a family of four. The patio, pool, and hot tub made our stay, which was primarily to visit Stanford, a real vacation. The dogs are very sweet and kept all entertained.

Our stay here was perfect. It was so much better than any hotel. We all loved the pool and our son still talks about the trampoline and "Cody's house"(Cody is one of the dogs our son, who is 3, loved to throw the ball for). We had a hard time coming home after our stay here.

My wife and I stayed a week in the guesthouse in March. The guesthouse exceeded our expectations. It was spotless and very well equipped. The location can't be beat - very close to San Jose, but in the country. We didn't have time to take advantage of all the facilities and the hosts were more than willing to take care of any problems. I recently stayed at the MacBeth guesthouse for a week( Feb 15-22, 2008). It is as nice or nicer than the pictures on the VRBO website! The dogs are very friendly and the hot tub was great after my 80 mile bicycle rides! It is also convenient to the airport and downtown Los Gatos. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay that wants something larger and nicer than a hotel room.

Our family (2 adults, 2 children) spent 5 weeks in the guest house last summer (late June and July) and had a wonderful time. The house is a perfect setup to feel at home - fully functional kitchen, clean and comfortable bathroom and bedrooms. The use of the outdoor grill, outdoor pool and hot tub was a wonderful addition. The location is great (quiet!), and a short drive into downtown Los Gatos and all that it has to offer. The Macbeth's were great hosts. We'd most definitely stay again.

My friends and I stayed here when we came out to see Crowded House at the Mountain Winery in August 2007. Usually places I've booked on the internet are a bit less than advertised, but the guest house exceeded my expectations 2-fold. (Or even 3-fold!) The location is perfect, and the house itself is extremely charming and very comfortable. It was nice having the dogs around, since I was missing my own pup back home. I enjoyed an evening of sitting in the fabulous hot tub and playing a game of fetch with one of the terriers. I would really recommend this place to anyone who is looking for lodging in this area. And you can't beat the price, I think they are under-charging. Thanks, Kim, for a great stay.

I booked the Guesthouse for my daughter, her husband and two small children to stay at on a family vist to see my son in Los Gatos. They stayed for 3 weeks and it was great. We stayed here in September for 2 weeks and had a great time. Our family of four had a very pleasant stay at Los Gatos guesthouse. The guest house is big enough to sleep comfortably, the facilities are modern and function well. The real bonus however are the beautiful surroundings, which include the great dogs, the big pool, the friendly hosts and of course the vicinity to some very nice places to eat and play the tourist. If we ever come back to this region we will try to book Los Gatos again.

We stayed in the Guesthouse in August 2006. It was was far better than we had expected with high quality fittings and great beds. The McBeths were friendly hosts as were the four wonderful dogs. We didnt manage to wear Cody out but we had fun trying. The location near Los Gatos was perfect for touring and we loved the countryside. Overall it is a great place to stay and we are hoping to return some day.

my wife, children (3yrs and 1yr)and I stayed at the McBeths guest cottage this summer while we were looking somewhere to live in the bay area. The property is of an extremely high standard, and combined with access to the pool, and bbq area makes for a 5 star experience.The location in the countryside is very tranquil and yet only a few miles from all the conveniences you need. If your going to stay in the Bay Area, your doing yourself an injustice if you don't stay at the MacBeth’s guest suite. I can't tell you how nice it was after a busy day to settle into the quiet hideaway nestled in the Los Gatos hills. The accommodations are top notch. The interior design of the place is warm and inviting and makes you feel right at home. My wife and I and our 2 year old son found plenty of room to move around inside and out. The kitchen is equipped to prepare meals if you desire to do so, but why would you want to when some of the best dining and eateries the Bay Area has to offer are only a few miles away. The location is ideal. The layout of the property is pleasant and secluded. I spent a while sitting on the patio under the huge oak trees, just enjoying space and breathing the fresh air. The pool was very refreshing and the hot tub even better for late night relaxation. It was nice to have them to ourselves. The pool was child safe which was comforting. I had no problem with my son roaming the spacious patio deck and playing ball with Cody, their adorable terrier. He loves to play fetch and he and my son played well together. It was nice for us to get into the hot tub later at night while our son slept only a few feet away. We wouldn’t do that in a hotel! It really was like being at home. You simply cannot get a better place to stay at any price. Everything was so nice I actually relaxed! These folks are very hospitable and made us feel welcome. After staying for 3 nights and 4 days we really didn’t want to leave. We will stay there again.

We loved staying at the McBeth's place. They are delightful people who have created a special living space for their family, and the guest house is an extension of their warmth and cheer. We felt that it was a very private space for us, yet we also had access to their pool and barbeque! It is close to all the amenities of the Bay Area while maintaining a rural feel. The house is beautifully decorated and maintained. It was a treat - a perfect solution for anyone looking for temporary housing in the Bay Area.

The MacBeth Guesthouse was tastefully decorated similar to Pottery Barn style. It had all the comforts of home includng a wonderful pool area for grilling and lounging. The beds were comfortable and some days we just enjoyed staying at the guesthouse and relaxing and playing with the dogs! It was like being in a tree house with the big open cathedral ceilings and windows. Absolutely beautiful!

We had a lovely stay at the guest house. The bedroom was large and very comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck reading the morning paper while watching the horses. It's really great how close the location is to downtown san jose,downtown los gatos, and to highway 880 to get over the hill to santa cruz. We look forward to future visits there.
