Thanksgiving Family Reunion

Talk about a unique setting! This house has seen many functions and was a surprise when we took our first tour. It is a diamond in the rough, natural marshes of south Louisiana and has all the sights, sounds and vistas that the beautiful marshes can provide. The property was laid out with suitable access to bathroom facilities to each bedroom, ample room for a Thanksgiving meal for 10 and a large room for watching games. We had a putting green on the rose garden lawn, casting from two deck locations, a flat bottom boat for the adventurous, two kitchens for cold storage, outside grilling equipment, an elevator for our wheelchaired guest and a warm cozy woodburning fireplace for our elders to enjoy. A true adventure! We enjoyed it and will always remember our reunion at the Jabberwocky! The owner was most helpful and we would recommend this facility.

Our recent family reunion at Jabberwocky was enhanced by the beauty and serenity of the bayou. The house itself appears like something from a movie set. As you enter, the sounds of wind chimes and water have a calm welcoming effect lending itself to a home atmosphere as opposed to a generic hotel room. Things we enjoyed: Watching football on a huge flat screen TV next to a roaring fire. Fishing from the dock down below. Bird and wildlife watching. Or simply just sitting out on the upper deck sipping some wine and enjoying the peace and quiet. We all had a wonderful time and will always remember our Thanksgiving 2011.

I stayed at the Jabberwocky home for a month with my wife, three boys and in-laws. We could not have been happier with our stay. The home is spacious and had a wonderful charm to it. We spent our days swimming in the pool (my kids still talk about that pool!!!) and fishing (and crabbing) in the back on the bayou. You have many acres to yourself to enjoy bayou living in private. The location was perfect. We travelled to the French Quarter in New Orleans at least 3 times a week. It was about 45 minutes to the Gulf Coast for some gambling. We even enjoyed exploring the restaurants all along the North Shore. The owner really knows the area and gave us plenty of recommendations on what to do. We loved it so much we are even thinking about moving to the area.

We spent 3 days in late May at the Jabberwocky House. Our party consisted of 4 older adults. The pool was great as we were there during 90 degree weather. We sat on the decks and watched the wildlife in the bayou, grilled Black Drum by the pool and watched the NBA championships on the big TV. Rowed the flat boat around the bayou and saw even more wildlife. The house itself had all the comforts you need and more. A great relaxing time and we wanted to stay longer- if we get back to Louisiana again would love to return to Jabberwocky.

I'd just like to say that your place was better than advertised. The house was beautiful and felt like a home and not like one of those austere condos. The bayou is exquisite and the views are beyond compare. I stayed there with my family and my brother and his family and it was perfect with the two kitchens and living areas. I only wish that it had been warm enough to go swimming.....but we'll definitely be back....thanks again.

Had a wonderful weekend at Jabberwocky. The weather was beautiful. The moon was full and lit up the marsh. It was quite surreal. The home was large enough that we all had our space. We enjoyed seeing the parades in Slidell and listening to live music at Palmettos. Looking forward to enjoying the last few hours sunning by the pool, listening to the fountains and wind chimes, and sipping a mimosa. Hate to leave and go back to reality.
