Location: Franklin, Smoky Mountains, North Carolina, USA (40 minute drive to Highlands. 20 minutes to Franklin)

Accommodations:  Streamside Mountain Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-8)

A rushing stream wraps around the back of our mountain cabin in the woods. Located on five acres, the cabin features a cozy dining/living area where you can dine to the sound of the creek or relax in front of the wood stove with a picture perfect view of the stream. The recently renovated cabin features Corian kitchen counters, beautiful wood floors throughout and lofted ceilings for a spacious feel. We purchased top of the line mattresses for the two bedrooms and for the futons in the living room and in the den. Walk into any room in the cabin and you can hear the soothing sound of the creek. Plan a picnic in our outdoor area with its vintage wood stove and grill or relax on the deck--we have two--one in front of the cabin and one behind it right over the creek. Excellent hiking is available right outside our door.

Highlands with its gourmet restaurants and inviting shops is a 40 minute drive from our door. Franklin is a twenty minute drive and it has museums, gem mines, restaurants and shops. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the refreshing solace of nature, this is the cabin for you. Lots of room for the kids to run around and they will love playing in the creek. Teenagers will love hiking up the stream and sliding down the rock into the refreshing stream. This is also the perfect romantic getaway for the two of you. It's nice and cool up here--we have often made fires in the wood stove in the middle of the summer.

  • We had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage. The scenery is spectacular...and so peaceful with the stream flowing around the house. It was very comfortable for 4 - plus a great kitchen as we cooked every night. Easy drive to take in the nearby sights. We would highly recommend it.

  • Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at the cabin. After a wonderful drive through the Blue Ridge Parkway and Franklin, we navigated up the mountain to your cabin. The further we went the happier we became. For my wife and I, the cabin was the perfect scenario – quiet, lots of trees and privacy, clean, newly remodeled and comfortable. Even better was the fact that it was close to town and within an easy and beautiful drive to major attractions and other neraby communities. For anyone coming from hot weather to visit you, we can attest to the fact that it was 72 degrees on Friday morning when we left at 8:30 am, 30 degrees cooler than our home in Texas. It rained every night we were there and clear and sunny during the day. The only problem was that we couldn’t hear the rain because of the creek. As you know, I asked you about fly- fishing in the area and you admitted that knew very little about the sport. You should now that Franklin and your cabin are the perfect location for fly fisherman. Great fly fishing on the Cullasaja River (20 minutes from the cabin) and first class on the Nantahala River (30 minutes away). Little did I know I would be fishing in the creek next to the cabin and catching 'brookies'. Although they were small, nonetheless pleased to have caught revered native trout for this area. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your cabin.

  • We loved our refreshing and peaceful stay at this cabin! The pictures don't do it justice, especially the waterfalls of the creek running right next to it. The kids loved climbing the rocks of the creek up the mountain and we loved dangling our feet in it and listening to rushing by at night. The serenity of the setting, way back from the roads, and the comfortable renovations were a real plus.

  • This cabin had exactly what we were looking for. We enjoyed the beautiful, serene surroundings and relaxing on the deck right by the creek. The cabin was meticulously clean, the furniture and beds very comfortable. We loved the stream's peaceful sounds lulling us to sleep. Our day trip to Highlands was very enjoyable, but we coudn't wait to come back to "our" cozy cabin that evening. This place is like a breath of fresh air and we will be back!   • The cabin and property is perfect for a true get-away vacation, yet, conveniently located near town. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved the babbling stream, cool weather, and privacy as much as we did. We will visit again. We higly recommend this affordable retreat to other vacationers!

We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to get away from it all.   • We had a fabulous time at your mountain house! It was so peaceful and cool in the mountains in July, and we enjoyed building fires and roasting marshmallows just like the good old days. We took long walks along the tranquil mountain roads and sat with our books and our feet in the stream afterwards. Thanks so much for the clean, beautiful abode!
