Rushing Stream Wraps Around Newly Renovated Cabin on 5 Acres

A rushing stream wraps around the back of our mountain cabin in the woods. Located on five acres, the cabin features a cozy dining/living area where you can dine to the sound of the creek or relax in front of the wood stove with a picture perfect view of the stream. The recently renovated cabin features Corian kitchen counters, beautiful wood floors throughout and lofted ceilings for a spacious feel. We purchased top of the line mattresses for the two bedrooms and for the futons in the living room and in the den. Walk into any room in the cabin and you can hear the soothing sound of the creek. Plan a picnic in our outdoor area with its vintage wood stove and grill or relax on the deck--we have two--one in front of the cabin and one behind it right over the creek. Excellent hiking is available right outside our door.
Highlands with its gourmet restaurants and inviting shops is a 40 minute drive from our door. Franklin is a twenty minute drive and it has museums, gem mines, restaurants and shops. If you're looking for peace and quiet and the refreshing solace of nature, this is the cabin for you. Lots of room for the kids to run around and they will love playing in the creek. Teenagers will love hiking up the stream and sliding down the rock into the refreshing stream. This is also the perfect romantic getaway for the two of you. It's nice and cool up here--we have often made fires in the wood stove in the middle of the summer.

Driving to the cabin we noticed a wonderful stream that stays with you until you reach the cabin. The stream was better than we could have imagined and as I sit here at work today, I miss that sound and the peaceful setting. The stream literally wraps around the house and provides that fantastic rushing stream sound, which is not only beautiful to look at, but so nice to hear throughout our entire visit. The cabin is tucked into the mountain and is situated perfectly into the natural setting, great for nature lovers who appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. There is an abundance of outdoor activities in the area for those that want to explore, although it will be hard to leave the cabin and stream. We kayaked on Lake Nantahala, went to Mason's gem mine and found a couple of sapphires, and went down to Highlands and did some hiking. What a beautiful part of the NC Mountains Franklin is located! The owners have provided a gas grill and we ate our dinners at the outdoor table which overlooks the rushing stream. We couldn't have asked for a nicer mountain cabin setting. Thanks for sharing your mountain cabin with us!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.

If a mountain stream is what you are looking for...this is the place! You will enjoy it both outside and in. The decks on the front and the back allow you to enjoy it in sun or shade depending on the time of day. The big windows give you a great view from inside and you can hear it from every room. The cabin is clean and has everything you need for a great stay! The area is very quiet and you will feel safe. We hope to return soon!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My husband and I had a blast at this place! We brought our Golden Retriever and stayed for a week. Our trip was planned so we were within prime fall foliage and it did not disappoint! The stream is way better than the photo shows and the photo is even great. We used the fire stove every night, watched a show or two on the television and completely relaxed the entire time! It's a short drive to the Highlands and the views are amazing wherever you go! We highly recommend this place and we have stayed at many VRBO'S. (this is the first that we felt needed a review) The owners answered all of our questions and were very helpful. :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We just returned from the cabin - our visit was absolutely magical. I don't think I could adequately describe the peace and beauty that just surround the place. We will definitely be back. And it snowed just enough while we were there to make our visit just spectacular. Everything is just as described - better in fact. Very clean, quiet and a true sanctuary.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time at your cabin in the NC Mtns. We were looking for a cool getaway from the South Georgia summer heat and we got it. We didn’t measure the temperatures, but we were comfortable with the windows open all day. And at night we slept under a quilt with windows open! Heavenly! The cabin was spotless on arrival. The cabin has an open floor plan and is larger than shown in the online pictures. Our son, his wife, & teenage daughter stayed with us 3 days. We stayed in the large master suite; they slept in the second bedroom & a futon. All beds were comfortable, linens clean & in good condition. It was nice having 2 rooms to sit and visit...1 with TV and 1 without. The wood paneled walls, ceilings, & floors are very well done . All the appliances were like new & worked great. It was handy having a washer & dryer. We loved the outside. The stream was more beautiful than imagined, and made soothing “white noise” for sleeping. We made good use of both the front deck, overlooking the large meadow, and the back deck, overlooking the stream's waterfalls. Our 8 yr old standard poodle frolicked in the meadow like a puppy! We enjoyed short side trips to Dillsboro, Sylva, and the Highlands. We appreciated the professional, yet personal manner in which the owner handled the rental. We hated to leave and hope to come back for a longer stay next year.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

.What a fantastic location for a Cabin. The stream is amazing. The children jumped in after 10 minutes of our arrival. The Cabin is in perfect condition and had everything we need to enjoy our meals. The pictures are accurate and the property is very clean and maintained. Thank you Kathryn for answering all my questions. I know I had many. Oh, you where right I didn't see one frog. :o) The Bed and Futons are so comfortable. Our friends saw our pictures and wanted information on it and of course we gave it to them. We went white water rafting (what a blast) I was fearful being 60 and not a swimmer, but I enjoyed it so much I want to go again. We had a great meal at Cafe Rel in Franklin. I would recommend it to all your visitors. We went to Highlands for a day and spent too much money, but it was fun. We drove to see Cades Cove and enjoyed the drive through the Smoky Mountains. We made a fire every night and the grandkids made smores over it. What a beautiful place to relax and play. Thank you so much for making you home our vacation dreamRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Went to the cabin over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a wonderful time. Love the flowing stream even though it rained very hard and we had to leave a little early, this was one of the best places we have ever rented in the NC mountains. One of the cleanest places we have stayed. Thanks for everything.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The cabin is exactly as represented in the photos--except more spacious and super-clean. The setting is glorious. The beauty of the area, the sounds of the water, the privacy---all exceeded our expectations and put us at ease immediately. It's been our experience that the other thing you want from a VRBO property is a responsible and responsive owner: and this one is ideal. Business-like and on top of it! We LOVE this place and plan to return often!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3
