Keywords: Cabin
Imagine a snug cabin in the high country.
From the broad deck, you look across a deep valley to forested ridges and peaks. Inside are the simple comforts that make a mountain sojourn memorable: an efficient little wood stove, down duvets, terry cloth robes. A deep Jacuzzi tub awaits your pleasure just outside the bedroom door.
This vision is reality at Green Springs Cabins. Surrounded by the Cascade-Siskiyou National Forest, our Pilot Rock cabin offers a perfect getaway opportunity for a couple or a family in the Southern Oregon Cascades, high above Ashland and the Rogue Valley.
We built this cabin in large part from lumber harvested from the surrounding forest, mostly dead and dying Douglas and white fir. Siding, floorboards, decking, interior paneling and trim, along with materials used for shelving and cabinetry, were all milled from trees that grew within a few hundred yards of the cabin site.
For those who are interested in learning more about our forestry and small scale milling operation, our sawmill, solar kiln, and cabinet shop are still on site.
Our Pilot Rock cabin is the perfect home base for a Southern Oregon vacation that might include visits to Crater Lake, Oregon Caves and the Klamath Wildlife Refuge; the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland and the Britt summer music venue in Jacksonville; and hiking, biking, horseback riding, river rafting and other outdoor adventures.
But your fondest memory of your Oregon stay may be of peaceful evenings in on a deck, listening to the breeze whispering in the forest canopy, watching the sun set over a timbered ridge.
Your deck awaits you.

Why the Owner Chose Ashland
Many of our guests at the Inn expressed interest in a private cabin in a mountain setting. When Padraic graduated from Montana State University with a degree in construction management, we asked him to design and build that cabin we had always imagined. We think he did an outstanding job. Take a look and judge for yourself.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
We are surrounded by forest and mountain peaks. Much of the the area between our location and the California border is now included in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument. Our guests can hike or ride horseback from our property directly into the Monument, connecting with the Pacific Crest Trail and numerous other trails. Nearby forest roads and paved mountain roads offer exciting routes for bicyclists. The put-in for Upper Klamath River raft trips, one of the best one-day white water runs in the West, is east of us on Hwy. 66. Winter brings cross country skiing and snow shoeing. Streams and lakes provide a variety of fishing opportunities.

My family and I moved to the Ashland area from Palo Alto, CA, in 1994. We also own Green Springs Inn, which I manage with my son, Padraic.

The descriptions and photos of this place are accurate, but don't even tell it all! It was exactly what we were looking for, a cozy cabin in the woods with a hot tub and kitchen, but it exceeded my expectations. When we got there there was already a fire in the wood stove so the place was warm and inviting. They had set up wood and kindling next to the stove. Everything you could want for cooking in the kitchen they had, and nice appliances. There were even candles waiting to be lit. There is a nice deck, and for 2 people the size of the place was more than enough. The siskiyou-cascade wilderness is right there, and the PCT too - so lots of opportunity for hiking. They have a cozy restaurant with great food, and a lodge with 10 rooms. There are 5 different cabins to choose from (check out the website idyllicmountaincabins.com) and they all have the same ammenities. Everyone who works there was very nice, and for all you get, this is a deal. My whole family will be coming up to stay there next month!
