Modernized Single Story Cottage on Beautiful Burt Lake.
The feel of our cabin's warm past history, coupled with modern additions makes
this a great get away.
We are on the Eastside of Burt Lake(facing the Sunset). Surrounded by pines, the cottage embodies the best of summers in Michigan. Traffic is limited behind the homes on our beach, as we are located down a semi-private trail. Our cottage is the 6th house before it dead ends 3 houses beyond ours. With its knotty pine interior and and beautiful original stone fireplace we've updated the home with central heating/air conditioning, satellite and surround sound stereo, modern appliances, to name just a few.
This cottage has lots of surprises.
The front and back porches are "all-weather" proof..not just screened in.
We have had 3 decks built, one off of the back porch, where we grill out, one is down at beach level for lunches and long lazy days, and one is at the end of our 40 foot dock. Our 90 foot wide beach is great for small children as well as all children.....Sandcastles and skipping stones, beach bonfires toasting marshmallows under the stars... all ages of kids have lots of options for fun down by the water's edge.
If you know Burt lake you'll remember the crystal clear waters. From 4 to 4 1/2 feet deep at the end of the dock, the crystal clear waters go on gradually deeper (to utltimately over your head) for the next 300 plus feet. Wonderful swimming and frolicking for children, as well as adults. Being on the East side of the lake,where the water gets rough occasionally, we have no weeds or reeds growing out front of our dock. Small smooth stones at water's edge give way to pure sandy bottom swimming, sailing, canoing, kayacking, or just floating on your rafts.
There is a childrens' Playscape with a little covered fort, slide, climbing ropes and swings in backyard, (other side of the cottage) (not lakeside).
Because our beach is private, you may store your kayaks, small sailfish, or rafts safely on shore there. Rock hounds find treasures aplenty on this stretch of beach, as well.
A Jetski hoist is available if you should need one. Ask us about jetski size.
If you have a larger powerboat we can make arrangements to make our covered hydraulic powered Shore Station hoist available.
This can accomodate up to a 23 foot powerboat....approx 4000 lbs
There are launch ramps in close proximity to us there...
Any trailers can be stored at the back of our property off-site.
I-75 Exit 310 Indian River We are only 3 miles from town on the East side of Burt lake.

- Currently Burt Lake and Mullet Lake are having a banner year when it comes to Bass fishing. Earlier this summer this story was being captured by major film crews who shared with our local officials that their footage of the story of our lakes' abundance of large bass will be aired on National Television stations this Fall.

Year Purchased: 1941
We are part of a multigeneration family who have lived and loved summers in this very cottage on Waubun Beach since the 1940's... It's a great place to enjoy your family...it is a safe sane environment for children to enjoy. Down a semi-private trail with only 8 homes, we are surrounded by lifelong neighbors who are friends. We all have played and made wonderful memories over the years...no matter what the ages, a sharing of the spirit of "Up North" as we swim, ski, sail and laugh together followed by nights around a beachfire under a canopy of stars. Once again, this summer, other pursuits have precluded us from enjoying the entire summer here so we decided to share it. We trust you will discover the magic of the place as well.
Why the Owner Chose Burt Lake
It has the best neighbors, best swimming, best fishing, and best sunsets. We are close to town and golf. We have only recently decided to once again open our place up for rental this year and the response has been wonderful. Because it is more of a home, than your average rental we are happy to report that calls are coming much earlier this year with lots of enthusiasm.

The Unique Benefits of this House
Our sunsets are breathtaking and the location is "prime seating" for the best show at "days' end" that you will find anywhere. After a day of enjoying the water, woods, hiking, golfing or the beach you can enjoy dining beach-side or on one of our decks or porches. Following dinner you might wish to explore the lake once again, as Burt lake is great for fishing....(perch, walleye, bass, even sturgeon) As we've gathered around a beachfire under the stars we can't help but notice the little lights on fishing boats as they gather around some of the various fishing "holes" on the lake. In bed at the end of the day, you can hear the waters lapping at the beach, the birds calling in the pines and the smell of the forest wafting in your window. Such a nice break from city life. The beauty of nature renews a person.
We are, however, only 1/2 hour from some of the best shopping and events in the "Tip of the Mitt" (as they call our part of the state) Thirty minutes and you can be in Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Gaylord, Mackinaw City or boarding a Ferry to "World famous" Mackinac Island....(remember "Somewhere in Time"?) As you return to the cottage you might also plan a local trip to "The Largest Cross in the World" at our Indian River Shrine, right here at the south end of our lake and our town. So many things to do, so close to many varied activities. We love it all. We're sure you will too.

This was one of our best vacations. The cottage was perfect. It was just as described but even better. The area is beautiful, the lake was perfect for our family. We have already booked for this summer.
