My Best New York Vacation Yet

Guest: Olivia (Denver, CO)

I have stayed in private apartments before, but this is definitely the most relaxing, quaint, and comfortable place I’ve ever spent time in. The apartment was filled with essentials and had everything I could ask for. I’d like to point out that the apartment was very warm (great heaters), because a few of the days were quite chilly. While dining with friends in the area we ran into a couple of celebrities – this is no doubt a premiere location in New York! Great restaurants and shopping, all around a delightful neighborhood. I would strongly recommend staying here and experiencing the city in a unique, cozy and exciting way! I would choose vacationing here (at a very affordable price) over staying in a hotel any day. In addition, the lovely hostess that met me upon arrival was very nice and accommodating and I had no issues whatsoever during my stay.

Ideal location within walking distance to many sites/attractions!

I stayed at the West Village Apartment for 4 nights with two 18 year old teens visiting NYC for the first time. We loved the quirky, fun decor, and the kitchen was a Godsend for late night snacks, breakfasts, and storing/warming leftovers. Marina greeted us upon our arrival with cold water or hot tea... we chose the waters! The weather was wonderfully warm and the stairs had given us a small work out with our luggage =o) It's all good though - we appreciated the stairs throughout our stay - including the extras to the rooftop deck - WONDERFUL escape and great views! Marina truly cares that your stay is comfortable and offers a couple of nice perks upon your arrival. The apartment is VERY CLEAN (kudos to the excellent cleaning person). Only issue was the toilet wasn't shutting off after the tank re-filled. We were shown how to stop the water from flowing into tank, and since we arrived on a Saturday, I'm sure it's now been repaired. Just right quarters for 3 people - would be perfect for 2... reminded me of my grandmother's former walk-up apartment... very nostalgic and quaint. Active 55+ would enjoy convenient location walking, subway access just down 1/2 block. We had a great time - Thank you, Marina!

Wonderful value for the price - clean, quiet, and comfortable

What a great location! Right in the heart of the Village, only steps from the subway and wonderful Bleecker Street. There is a great bakery right downstairs for lattes and delicious baked good, and everything I needed (banks, cafes, grocery stores) was within a few steps. The apartment was VERY clean and quite comfortable. I am very picky about beds, and found this one to be very comfortable, not too hard and not too soft. The apartment was well-equipped with everything one could need for a few days, plenty of towels and clean sheets, toiletries, hair-dryer and iron, kitchen equipment etc. The apartment is also very quiet, as it faces it a courtyard. There were two small negatives that kept me from rating it a "5" (really I would have given 4.5 stays but VRBO does not allow for that) there is no sink in the very small bathroom, so one must use the kitchen sink for washing and teeth-brushing, which is inconvenient. Not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of. Also, because it does face a courtyard, there is not a lot of natural light in the apartment. Again, this was not a deal-breaker for me as I was really only there to sleep and relax, but if you require a lot of light to feel energized, this might not be the place for you. Do also note that it is four flights up, with no elevator. I would not recommend for anyone not able to walk up steps. All in all, a great deal for the price. Fantastic location, clean, quiet and Marina (the owner) was as helpful as can be, assisting with directions, tips on getting around etc. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Marina!

I've been meaning to write a review so I'm finally getting to this! I arrived during Hurican Irene and have to say Marina was very helpfull and gracious. I had to add a few days at the last minute due to the storm and Marina was very accomodating. The apartment is in a perfect location steps away from the metro, Washington Square and many great restaurants as well as the grocery store. I would definitely stay again, the price was reasonable. Thanks Marina

Perfectly located and very charming NYC apartment!

My boyfriend and I just had the pleasure of staying in this artsy, unique apartment for our short visit to NYC. It had everything we needed (full kitchen for cooking and dining, hair dryer, Wifi, good AC) and was very comfortable and clean. The apartment is very peaceful, so we were able to get plenty of rest between running around NYC prime locations just steps away. The neighborhood is fantastic with great restaurants, boutique shops, nightlife, pharmacy and groceries, coffee shops.. everything within a block or 2 radius! The apartment is very close to many subway trains and it’s easy to catch a cab outside the building. We can’t wait till our next visit to NYC and will definitely be staying here again!!

My wife and I concur with the comments in the previous reviews. The Internet pictures are accurate. Marina is a great person to deal with, and the apartment is clean and welll-stocked with essentials. We had trouble using Traveler's Checks in Greenwich Village; some establishments only accepted cash and declined credit/debit cards. The building doesn't have an elevator, so be prepared for extra exercise when toting luggage and groceries. The shower stall is small, but functional. Expect only one sink located in the kitchen.

My wife and I had an even better trip than we expected. The apartment was clean, quiet and had a cheerful decor. The location was extremely convenient (only 1/2 block from the subway) and we were able to walk to Chelsea one day and SoHo the next day in 10 minutes. The neighborhood was fun with plenty to do, see and eat. We especially enjoyed the local cafes and jazz clubs. I felt the price was a good value and would stay there again.

Ideal location for a fabulous NYC visit!

OK, so I’m a little delinquent in writing my review since staying 10 nights in February, but it’s not for lack of enjoying it! It is in a perfect location in the West Village, so convenient to transportation, nightlife, shopping, grocery, restaurants and the amazing sites of NYC. I walked all over the place but was only steps and blocks away from catching the subway to uptown or downtown which was so convenient! Hailing a cab is easy too as they frequent the neighborhood streets so you can find them out the doorstep. I was a single woman staying there and felt completely safe even in the wee hours of the morning, as it seemed like there were always people out roaming the streets and having fun so I wasn’t intimidated walking alone (with common sense caution, of course!). The apartment is cheerfully decorated, very clean, and had all the conveniences of home to be able to eat in, sit and relax watching cable tv or using the free wifi (as I did have to log into work several days). It is very quiet too since it faces a courtyard. Marina is a gracious host who always responded quickly to my many questions prior to my arrival, was easy to work with, and also very accommodating at the last minute when I realized I needed to stay a bit longer than expected (oh darn!). The location is ideal and they even have a nice jogging/walking path along the Hudson a couple of blocks away that I ran all the way down to Battery Park to have a nice view of the Statue of Liberty. If you’re looking for a location that is in the heart of it all with great shops and food steps away, but far enough from the tourists & congestion of Times Square, this is the place to stay…at a great price! I love New York and can’t wait to return!!

This apartment was not only in the ideal location for staying in NYC (close to nightlife, subway, shopping, and restaurants), but was also absolutely precious. It was decorated beautifully, and had everything I needed for the trip, including a full kitchen. I will definitely stay here on my next trip

What a perfect place to check out the delights of NYC. You are steps away from the 1 subway, and 2 blocks away from the A-C-E stop at W. 4th St. You can walk to the high-line, Murray's Bagels and cool galleries in Chelsea. The apartment was comfortable, quiet and quirky in a charming way. There is even a cool rooftop w/ great views of the Empire State Building and lower Manhattan. Very happy we stayed here and thanks for the best weather EVER the week of Sept. 2-9th!
