  Just amazing....was so hopeful when I saw the previous reviews, but cautious. Then I stayed there myself and was SO IMPRESSED! We have a family of three and it was perfect! We stayed three blocks from the rest of my family, rented a golf cart to transport us here and there, and just enjoyed it immensely. We especially appreciated the "small things" the owner does, like provide WONDERFUL beach towels and even keeps the kitchen stocked with condiments! I made the mistake of assuming it would be a typical "rental" and bought salt, pepper, seasonings, oils, etc. and was so surprised to see she has the pantry stocked even with things like foil. Cottage is CLEAN!! Her requests at checkout were minimal,so impressed. **one thing to note which I felt is a true testament of the ownership of this rental. Prior to our arrival, it was discovered the washing machine had stopped working properly. It was absolutely NOT the fault of the owner....simply "one of those things" that happen in life no one can control (a gasket went awry in the washer). However, her approach was to attempt to have it repaired ASAP on a holiday weekend and when that didn't work, was very apologetic and even issued a small refund on the rental to make up for the situation. In addition, her standard request to have all beach towels laundered and folded was waived. Truly, a testament of a landlord "making it right" with a fair offer to balance the situation. So many other people could have just said "too bad, out of luck". Lauren was just amazing! ** Will absolutely rent again, and hope if she sells to give me first dibs. Location is PERFECT!

  My husband and I arrived on May 18 and left on May 26. The cottage looks just like the pictures. Very clean and cozy, and the linens are outstanding. The pool and surrounding area are a tropical paradise. We spent 8 days floating around in the pool....even had lunch at the table! The cottage is very close to the beach and the public access is a short walk. The island has several nice restaurants and quaint shops...many within walking distance. The island traffic was minimal, so walking or riding bicycles is easily accomplished. I have rented through VRBO several times and this is the first property to which I am returning. We loved the cottage and island. It was the perfect spot to relax and recharge. Lauren was easy to deal with, provided exceptionally prompt service and was very helpful at pointing us towards places off the beaten path. She's awesome! We are counting the days until we return!

  Had the pleasure of spending time with my family at the beach for one luxurious week! We enjoyed everything about our rental. This beach house is totally turnkey. . .we wanted for nothing! Awesome kitchen, great linens, comfy beds. It really felt like home and so close to those glorious Anna Maria sunsets!!! Be sure and visit Eat Here and Gio's off Cortez, both an adventure in great casual beach dining. Thank you Lauren!

  Beautiful cottage and pool. Very bright, airy and clean. Location was awesome- a short block to the beach and restaurants and shopping. Beds were very comfortable and we loved the clean and soft linens. The pool though was the best part! We had a bit of a heat wave so spent most of our time in it. Kids preferred it over the beach! We will certainly return to this house and highly recommend to others.

  We had a wonderful time at what we started calling "the villa". Secluded and private, yet just one block from the beach, island shopping, and restaurants. Having a private pool and BBQ was great and the villa was very comfortable and updated. If you are looking for privacy and comfort, it doesn't get much better than this. And the fresh fish......I want to go back right now. Brad and Terry

  The cottage and pool were just fabulous! Lauren did everything to make our stay extra special. The property has been totally remodeled and you can tell it is a place the owner treats as her own. My mom is 90 and had a fabulous time in the pool! The weather was terrific. We only cooked breakfast and lunch at the condo and enjoyed our dinners out at the wonderful restaurants on the island. Lauren's kitchen had everything you needed-we especially enjoyed the plastic wine glasses we could use at the pool. We spent a week in Hilton Head in early September in a beautiful 7 bedroom oceanfront house-it did not have near the kitchen supplies and not half the charm of this cottage. This cottage is A+!!!!

  I rented the cottage for a reunion weekend with some old friends and it was the perfect place and really made the trip. The interior was clean, beautifully done and welcoming. The pool was the perfect spot for every one to chill out after the beach or a day in the sun and on the boat. We really enjoyed it and can't speak highly enough. We'll be back in the future for sure.

  Another huge thank you to the owner, Lauren, for a perfect vacation! The twelve of us stayed at Sunrise and Sunset Cottages for a family beach getaway and could not have been more pleased. From beginning to end, it was a fabulous vacation. The two properties are conveniently just steps apart, making them perfect for a large family or group to 'take over', but still completely separate so we could all be on our own schedules. Sunrise is just as beautiful as its big sister cottage, Sunset (a 3/3 which also has a fabulously landscaped pool area). The cable package and TVs in every room were great for the kids and for the day we had rain. The well-equipped kitchen and awesome Weber gas grill make cooking easy and fun. It's rare to feel so at home when you're on vacation. The intense pride Lauren takes in these properties is obvious...from the exceptionally clean linens and spotless kitchen and bathrooms to the beyond-words-gorgeous, beautifully manicured lagoon pools. Look at the photos and multiply that beauty by ten and you'll get a feel for the Sunrise and Sunset experience. Perfection across the board.

  We can't express how great my trip was to Sunrise Cottage this summer in early August 2012! From the moment my husband and I stepped on the property and home we were in love with the atmosphere, calmness, and relaxation we both experienced during our stay. I had been to the island before but was so impressed with Sunrise cottage! We got to meet the owner and was so happy with how helpful she was in suggesting places to eat and things to do while we stayed at the cottage! We actually got married on the island and got to spend a wonderful time at the cottage and on the island! The weather was beautiful and the private pool was awesome and warm! Can't say enough of how great this place was! We want to go back already and probably will soon!

  We rented the Sunrise Cottage for a family vacation that turned into a girls getaway, three generations. We had a lovely time, the location of the cottage is wonderful and convenient to everything. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and at home, Lauren went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. The home is exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated, we even loved the plates and coffee mugs. From the linens to the gorgeous ceiling fans this home is a place that anyone would fall in love with and enjoy staying for any length of time. We plan on coming back again and I will definitely be telling all of my friends and family about the Sunrise Cottage!! Our vacation photos have been a big hit :-)

  Our family had a wonderful vacation at Sunrise Cottage on Anna Maria Island the week of 6/30-7/8. Anna Maria is a great family vacation destination, and the cottage is well suited as a home base to discover everything the area has to offer. The owner Lauren is great - she met us at the house, showed us around, and was a pleasure to work with through the entire rental process. The cottage is light, bright, airy, modern, and well appointed. The kitchen especially is well stocked. The pool is a gem...perfect for kids and adults alike, with lush landscaping and a table with umbrella at the shallower end. The kids loved having drinks and snacks at the table, and watching geckos run up the palm trees. We fished off some of the local island piers and left the fishing rods at the cottage; we hope other folks that rent the cottage can use them. It would have been nice to have a cooler as well; hoping someone else will add that to the cottage amenities. We loved Coquina Beach the best, and brought home many beautiful shells and sand dollars. We had the good fortune to swim with a manatee while at Coquina Beach as well. The Rod & Reel Pier has the best fish on the island for eating out, while fishing and dolphin spotting off their pier is great fun for the kids. We also loved the BBQ at Mr. Bones, and the Sandbar was great for beachside dining and cocktails. We loved every minute of our Anna Maria Sunrise Cottage vacation, and hopefully we will be back some day.

  Nine days of glorious weather and a cozy cottage were not enough. Everything was as promised, plus, plus, plus. The friendly town library is right across the street. An easy stroll to the Circle K for the morning paper and hot coffee, then back to the bench to watch the pelicans drift over the morning breakers. Thanks for making our 2011 Christmas so special!

  The photos do not begin to do justice to this charming beach cottage. Everything we needed to feel right at home was available. The mattress in the master bedroom was high-end and extremely comfortable. The owner was very helpful, communicative and accommodating. We loved that we were able to bring our two labs with us...both because of what we saved by not having to board them and the fact that I didn't have to worry about them all week. The house was pristinely clean...you'd never be able to tell that this is pet-friendly lodging (no hair, odor, etc.). Many restaurants, shops are within easy walking distance. I never wanted to leave!

  Owner response: Thanks to this guest for her kind words. Many of our guests bring their pets. We find most take wonderful care of Periwinkle and their furry "kids" are well-behaved. We also have a regular visitor in the form of a stumpy-tailed but very friendly black cat who stops by the back yard most afternoons at cocktail time. The Periwinkle yard is not totally fenced so pets must be kept on a leash; the Periwinkle yard is a lovely place to sit outside with a pet and enjoy the tropical flowers and palms. The neighborhood around Periwinkle is great for dog-walking with a leash and there is a wonderful walking/bike path that runs along the Gulf just south of the cottage where many of our guests take their pets.

  We stayed at Periwinkle Cottage for a week last spring and we are still reliving the fabulous memories. It was perfect for my husband, daughter, son and me. Our kids were 2 & 4 when we were there and they had a ball catching lizards and caterpillars in the yard when we weren't playing on the beach. I cannot truly express what a great time we had and I am sad I didn't book it right away for this year because nowhere else seems ro compare. Thank you!!

  I don't think there is anything else that you could do to your cottage to make it any better I wouldn't think of staying at another cottage on the island.
