A Stunning Lakefront home on crystal clear, sandy bottomed, 110 acre Forest Lake at the junction of NH,VT,& MA will be your long awaited retreat in the whispering pines, shimmering lakes, and beautiful foliage of New Hampshire. Bring the kids & dogs or just enjoy by yourselves. The Great room with 25' high natural pine cathedral ceiling, skylights, entertainment center and fireplace is comfortably, casually, and uniquely furnished. Fall Foliage time is spectacular, both around the lake and on the many scenic drives nearby.
It looks out over the pristine Forest Lake that lends itself to a memorable vacation with family and friends. A fully equipped gourmet kitchen that incorporates a Jennair oven/range/grill, refrigerator/icemaker and dishwasher with all utensils, equipment, spices, condiments, etc. will make it difficult to try the eclectic restaurants in Keene, New Hampshire or historic Brattleboro, Vermont nearby.
The Four Bedrooms are 2 Queen beds, a Double, and the 4 season sun-porch with 2 single beds & Queen hide a bed (Great kid or teen suite with their own TV and VCR) and a Queen hide-a-bed in the living room and crib allow for a peaceful nights rest after a nice bath in the Jacuzzi tub or sitting in the new private outdoor Hot Tub overlooking Forest Lake!
An additional living room/ sitting area with wood stove, AC and new half bath with full size washer & dryer gives you a chance to plan your day fishing, which is superb, swimming off the 150 square foot floating dock, using our canoe,3 kayaks, 4 person paddle boat, rafts or floating lounge chairs on the lake, cross country or downhill skiing, snowmobiling on marked trails, antiquing and shopping in sales tax free NH, playing golf, hiking, biking, leaf-peeping, or attending one of the many auctions, flea markets concerts, shows or festivals in the area.
For a little exercise and a 100 mile view, climb Mt Monadnock, the most climbed Mtn in the world and only 15 miles from the house. Take the bikes down by the hobby farm with Llamas, goats, ducks, geese, lambs, horses etc. Horses and trail rides are less than a mile away and afterwards, rest those weary muscles in the new Hot Tub with the sun setting right into shimmering Forest Lake.
Winter brings cross country skiing right from the door,(10 sets of skis, 12 sizes of boots & lots of skates, snowshoes, hockey sticks and Ice fishing 'jigs' for your use!)big time downhill skiing within an hour, snowmobiling on marked trails, ice skating, sledding, ice fishing or just relaxing around the wood stove or propane fireplace.
Maybe best of all, just grab a book, snuggle in a chair by the fire,or on one of the 3 outdoor decks and just let your cares drift away as the sun slowly sets out over the lake!
We do tend to book up for the Summertime usually by months before, but also check out our new home on Rockwood Pond in Fitzwilliam, NH VRBO/181030.

Can not go wrong with renting this home. Everything you need with exception to bedding and towels is at your fingertips. Very charming and secluded. Doggies had a good time as well. Lots to do and see. Day trips to bordering states were very nice with lots of shopping and antiqueing. We will be back again next year, as I think we found the perfect home to stay at when visiting up North. Thanks again Paul and AnnRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners.

This was our third time renting from Paul and Anne, first time at this house. There is nothing that they have not thought of while outfitting their house for your comfort, convenience, relaxation and fun. This house is deceptively spacious with plenty of room for everyone to move about, hang out or even find some quiet time alone. We loved the choice of having a wood fire in the stove, or easily turning on the gas fireplace in the Great Room. And, we also had some nice fires out in the fire pit behind the house, with plenty of seating for everyone around the fire. The hot tub is wonderfully relaxing and very clean and easy to operate. When they say all you need to bring is personal stuff and food, they aren't kidding. The kitchen is well stocked with lots of extras and there was plenty of firewood too. There is also an abundance of reading materials for all interests, games, movies, and music too for all ages. All this, and that's without even mentioning the lake, or for us, the ice. We ice fished and had wonderful walks on the ice. Paul and Anne have done a terrific job at making this rental home feel like a home, for however long your stay may be. The interior decor is warm and welcoming, and there's also lots of interesting knick knacks and stuff all around to look at. We look forward to our "WinterFest" get together next year at house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I went up with my fiance and another couple and couldn't have been more happy with Paul's Winchester lake house! There was more than enough in the house to keep us entertained all weekend. My dog loved it too! The lake was frozen solid and we took advantage of some great cross country skiing right from the dock. It really was perfect, soaking in the hot tub, in -10 degrees, right above the lake, with spectacular views was simply amazing. We areare already ananxiously anticipating our next visit!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed at this house with my husband and 4 other couples over New Year's weekend. We had a fantastic time. The house is right on the lake so the view from the house is beautiful. There were also enough beds for everyone to sleep comfortably which was great. I would absolutely recommend this house to rent to any group of people. I am sure I will be back sometime in the future.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our two families totaling 7 people decided to escape to NH for the Thanksgiving holiday. We found this beautiful Lakefront Home through an internet search and after exchanging emails with the owners we decided to rent for the holiday. From the moment we arrived we were thrilled with the location, ease of access, proximity to stores and activities, and accommodations within the home. The owners left detailed instructions and notes so using items in the home was effortless. We thoroughly enjoyed the gas fireplace as well as the wood-burning stove and while we had our own kayak we did enjoy also using the available canoe to all go out on Forest Lake. Jim caught a brown trout fly fishing one morning! We would certainly rent this well outfitted and very inviting home in the future!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I booked this house to celebrate my wife’s 30th birthday and it was wonderful from start to finish. Paul was great to work with and had the woodstove and hot tub ready for us. The condition of the house was top notch, the beds were comfortable, the house was clean, views were great and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We were there Friday night through Monday and had some guests join us for the first two nights. The great room was big enough for us and has two full board games going. The game room was open during our stay and was a blast, from the box of costume supplies which was great for pictures to the ping pong table. The three level deck and nice grill allowed for great food. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for some R&R, everything has been thought up to help make the stay as relaxing as it can be, from the boats to the ample supply of logs for the fire pit and wood stove the only thing you need to bring is your bedding, food and drink. Paul even worked with us when we forgot some things. Wish we could have stayed longer!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My boyfriend and I (and our 5lb chihuahua Newman:) had an absolutely lovely week at this home. It was everything we'd hoped our Fall getaway would be and more! We only left twice to go to the grocery store, otherwise we spent all of our time utilizing all the home had to offer; we cooked 3 meals a day in the awesome and modern kitchen, we kayaked several times on the serene lake (which we had entirely to ourselves every time!), we played basketball, we rode the bikes, we played board games & watched several of the movies, we used the hot tub (which was so nice and clean) a few times too, we played darts and air hockey in the basement game room.. we had the most peaceful, relaxing, decompressing week.. and it was a blast for us, just the way we wanted it! The only time we saw another human being was when we went to the grocery, otherwise it was just us, our dog, and the beautiful Forest Lake house. Thank you Paul and Anne for being such great vacation home owners, everything we needed was there and we felt right at home all week. We will definitely be back someday! ~Sara R. & Scott D. (and Newman the dog too, who fully enjoyed his very 1st vacation:)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The house was charming, and the lake beautiful. Cathedral ceiling in the main area was our favorite aspect of the house, as well as the modern kitchen. Bringing our dogs was a major plus, and everyone in Winchester is real friendly. The owners are pleasant, and a joy to deal with. Everything you can imagine to use for entertainment was on the property, and it is clear that the primary concern of the owners is to help you enjoy your stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: We used to run a Country Inn and Spa in Canada. While we certainly enjoy our home when we can on the weekends, we really have fun providing an enjoyable and relaxing time for our guests, who do seem to return year after year. We'd like you to be one of them!
Why the Owner Chose Winchester:
The town of Keene, NH, 9 miles north has a wide and constant variety of things to do, with it's 3 universities and very active merchants assoc. The main downtown, with 60 shops & restaurants, with no national chains is very unique. There are the 'Big Box' stores on the outskirts of Keene.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Forest Lake is very protected from prevailing winds, so it warms quickly in the Spring and freezes quickly in the Winter. As a mostly summer seasonal lake, from early fall to late Spring, you own the lake!
