Home away from home...
Home away from home...
My family and I stayed in this home away from home to celebrate my 40th birthday in Mazatlan. My sister and her husband from Australia stayed with my husband and I and our 2 children. It was everything the description and photos made it out to be and more. It was incredibly clean, and comfortable looking from our first impression, it only got better from there. There was more than enough room and privacy for everyone. There are actually 2 separate sitting/visiting areas (upstairs and down) which is perfect when you have a larger group. Our son made use of the x-box and satellite TV while we visited downstairs and on the beautiful patio. The complex is gated and we felt super safe. Safety in Mazatlan has never been a concern for us, but my sister had heard all the rumours and commented on how it felt like we were in the "Sherwood Park" of Mazatlan (a family/community suburb close to home). Antonio was there to greet us and give us any additional info we needed when we arrived, he even checked in later in the week. Mieke called on the first day to make sure we were comfortable and had arrived safely. I had read that the pool wasn't heated, but we stayed at a hotel for the first week that advertised heated pools, and our children found the pool at Villa Marina to be MUCH warmer! There are many "shallow" areas as well as deeper ones, I think it heats up quickly. I would run alone in the early mornings, and there were always gardeners, and others with bigs smiles saying hello. It is off of the beach, so if you want beach-front, this might not be for you, but the walk is not far, and it is really nice to have the quiet "away from the beach/tourist" experience. We also took the public transit and taxis to Centro and the Golden Zone on many occasions without issue. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I (both in our late 70) spent two moths at this town house in Villa Marina in January/March 2013. It is located in a charming, safe, gated community. The neighbourhood is a mix of Mexican working families and American/Canadian retirees. We had a great time in this townhouse and everything was in good working condition. The listing photos accurately reflect the rental’s appearance and amenities. The on-site caretaker, Antonio greeted us on arrival and was looking after our needs whenever they arose and even his wife, Rosa, was looking out for us. My wife walked home one day and missed our house, while she was marching past Antonio's house his wife saw her from the upstairs window and told Antonio to come over to find out if we needed any assistance. There are no neighbours in the back of this townhouse, that makes the sunny courtyard very private and is a haven for those wanting to relax and read. On wash day my wife appreciated the outdoor drier rack, she likes to use solar power and a breeze to dry instead of the gas drier. We mainly used the frequent low-cost bus service to get around Mazatlan, but the taxis were not too expensive when used for grocery shopping or later at night. We also learned to walk again because at home we drive everywhere and rarely walk a distance like the one to the beach. We walked the beach to the Playa Bruja or to the end of the other side almost daily, good exercise and you meet people. We liked the hand wagon, shopping cart, umbrella and chairs very much, they came in so handy and made beach life more enjoyable. And last but not least we have to say we have not found a more attentive landlady than Mieke. From the first phone she made to us shortly after we made our first inquiry through the VRBO website and the welcome phone call after our arrival in our new home in Mazatlan and the prompt replies to all our email questions she made us feel welcome. All in all this was a wonderful place to spend two months in Mazatlan and we recommend this town house to anybody looking for a place in Mazatlan.

Owner response: Thank you so much for your very kind words, Egon and Trudy. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and we enjoyed having you there. Hope to see you again soon. Greetings from Mieke.
Our stay was extremely enjoyable. Not only is the townhouse beautifully maintained and decorated, it offers close access to the beach and a wonderful coffee house and restaurant. The owners have created a binder of all the information -- shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, tourist sites – that you will need during your visit. If you are looking to “get away” but still feel the comforts of home, I would highly recommend this townhouse.

I had a wonderful stay at this property and found it to be clean, comfortable and convenient. It is a short walk to the beach and close to transportation. The property is secure in a well managed development with access to a pool and park in a lovely neighborhood. The owners are most accomodating and helpful and I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a getaway in Mazatlan with all the comforts of home and more....

I have stayed at this home several times now and have found it to be immaculate, clean, bright, cozy and very well taken care of. This home is equipped with everything you would need and more. Property Managers are right on site and available at a moments notice for any problems that arise. Great laundry facilities, beautiful courtyard, close to a beautiful and quiet beach. Very quiet and safe complex, 24/7 guards on duty in this gated community. Close to a convenience store, busses and taxis. Satelite TV, free Internet and a very nice feature is the free calling home.

During our 10 day stay here in december 2009, our group of six had a most wonderful time. This was the first vacation rental any of us had ever stayed in and had no idea of what to expect. The pictures and description on the ad, although wonderful, really do not capture how truly great this townhouse is. We could not get over how well everything seemed to be thought out, and all the comforts of home...and purhaps even more were there for our enjoyment. Absolutly everything you need, and then some is supplied. Now, it has been a few months since we stayed there, and as I said, it was our first time, so I had nothing to compare to...but since then I have stayed in several others in a few other cities and locations. This by far has been the best one I have seen based on the price point. It is scrupulously clean, well arranged, and very well cared for. None of us would have any hesitation whatsoever to return when we are down there again. I personally feel that what you get for what you pay for here, makes it a well worth every penny spent, and then some. The arrangements Mieke made for us to be picked up from the airport and dropped off at the front door was very a nice touch. Thankyou so much for sharing your home away from home with us.

Why the Owner Chose Mazatlan:
We've been vacationing in Mazatlan for many years and love the ocean and the small-town feel of Mazatlan. We got tired of the resorts and decided to purchase the townhouse. We love it and hope you will as well.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
We love to take our morning walk on the beach and stop at Playa Bruja for a latte at our favorite coffee shop. Take the local bus to Old Mazatlan and soak up the atmosphere of the real Mexico.
