Welcome to Casa Bonita. Please also visit us on our website. This relaxing and gorgeous home is located only a few steps from Playa Grande Beach in the area of Palm Beach Estates, an exclusive gated community nestled between the beach and the largest estuary in Central America, surrounded by tall trees giving you a sense of pleasant privacy and tranquility all around.
Enjoy the best vacation ever in a comfortable and spacious 4 bedroom-3-bathroom house which is fully air conditioned, has 3 king and 1 queen size beds and space enough for 2 families. Enjoy the very private tropical garden and your own private pool with built-in bar stools. The outdoor barbecue area provides a fun alternative to cooking for the whole family or for your BBQ party with friends.
The house is ideal for 8 people. It has a very spacious master suite with a king size bed and a large bathroom with double showers and sinks. In addition, there are two bedrooms with a queen and a king bed, which share a spacious bathroom. The fourth bedroom with its queen size bed has its separate and completely private entrance at the back of the house and also its own bathroom.
In the front area the house has an outside patio with rattan furniture, creating an outside living room with the most relaxing view of the garden and pool. Enjoy a drink while listening to the parrots, tropical birds and howler monkeys announce their presence. After a day at the beach, take a shower in our outside showers and wash the sand and salt off while listening to these wild guests in the adjacent National Park.
A 2500 liter water tank and automatic pneumatic pump allow Casa Bonita to maintain excellent water pressure at all times, which a lot of the other properties are not able to do.
Inside Casa Bonita you will find a large living room with two built-in couches and a TV and Stereo set. The fully equipped kitchen features a “wild sea” granite counter that resembles the ocean wave, two refrigerators, 6 burner gas stove, microwave, water cooler, all necessary utensils and all the appliances you need to prepare your own meals.
Our amazing caretakers Nathalie and Ludo provide the welcome and cleaning service and will help guests with everything including tours and activities upon request.
The area of Tamarindo/Playa Grande is known for a variety of things to do such as World-Cass Surfing, Golf, Boating, Swimming, Hiking, Nature Trails, Wildlife Watching Tours, Jetskiing, Canopying, Fishing, Sailing, Horse Back Riding.... Alternatively, enjoy the large variety of restaurants, bars and clubs in Tamarindo or discover the town's many shops and stores.
Casa Bonita is close to a convenience store, but Tamarindo has some very sophisticated Super Markets and hardware stores. There are also different Churches, tour operators, banks, car rental agencies and all other necessary services in Tamarindo.
When you stay at Casa Bonita, you have the best of both worlds: the fun, crazy and active Tamarindo just next door and the peaceful beauty of Playa Grande to relax and withdraw from the hubb. We hope to have you at Casa Bonita as a guest soon and look forward to hearing from you!
Please know the video attached is from the previous owner and not up-to-date yet. We have done a lot of renovations and upgrades since we own the house. But the video gives you a good idea about the lay out of the property and the beauty of the garden. Our website will show you more pictures

I am one of 5 adults that rented Casa Bonita from March 30 to April 8. Our stay was delightful in every way. The house is in great condition and very well maintained. The caretaker is extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. The owners were more than willing to provide recommendations on things to do and places to go. The house is a 2 minute walk to Playa Grande which is an absolutely lovely beach. If you get tired of the sand, the pool at the house is always clean and a great way to cool down. The house is a 15 minute walk and 1 minute boat ride from Tamarindo. You have all the benefits of a busy little town where you can buy just about anything you need and the peace and quiet of remarkable Playa Grande. We arranged 2 tours through Vargas Travel who are always dependable and willing to accommodate. We also took an estuary tour with one of the water taxi drivers. It was also great. We had one dinner at Bula Bula which is about a 15 minute walk from the house, another at Pangas in Tamarindo which was delicious and a authentic taco lunch at Taco Star which is at the northern end of Playa Grande. We ate most meals at the house making use of the charcoal BBQ for every dinner we ate there. We all agreed that we have not a had a better vacation and we have every intention of going back. We have no hesitation what so ever in recommending Casa Bonita.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This was our second tour to Costa Rica. The first time we were south near Dominical and ventured out on quite a few tours. This time, however, we searched out for a "do nothing" getaway. This was our schedule: coffee by the pool, listening to the howler monkeys, watching the beautiful birds, having a swim in that beautiful pool - then taking a walk on the beach, taking a water taxi to town for lunch, then going back for a nap, again in the pool. Then the absolute best part of the day was taking our wine glasses to the beach in the evening and watching the most incredible sunset and watching the stars come out. We did venture out to a few places such as the wonderful restaurants within walking distance, a boat tour and saw not only beautiful birds but a place where you saw monkeys close by, a village where the pottery makers had their kilns, and a beach where there was some limited snorkeling. The villa was as it was described and very comfortable, very clean and well maintained. I can't say enough about Nathalie. She stopped by on a regular basis to make sure if we needed anything. She was the one who recommended the few outtings that we did. We have used VRBO for several years and this one was right on the mark as far as descriptions are concerned. I would recommend Casa Bonita to everyone and we would love to come back and "do nothing" again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Casa Bonita is a beautiful, comfortable and peaceful home in Playa Grande. I originally contacted Bjorn/Iris after seeing all the great reviews on VRBO. I immediately understood why they have so many great comments. They were extremely helpful with planning our trip and always promptly responded to any questions I had. We have never been to Costa Rica but they made us realize we'd be in good hands. We accidentally left a few of our items at the house after our stay and they offered to send them to us. Bjorn and Iris went over and above to help us in every single way. When we arrived at the house, the great treatment continued. Nathalie greeted us upon arrival, and helped us get situated in the house. She gave us directions to local grocery stores, restaurants, etc. She even helped us organize adventures like zip lining, water slides, horseback riding and boat trips. Our trip was unusual since we experienced a 7.6 earthquake. Our party was definitely a little frazzled but Nathalie immediately ran over to our house after it occurred to check on us and ensure everyone was unharmed. It was very calming knowing that she was there for anything we may need. I couldn't have asked for a better host. The home is everything we wanted and more. It has 4 large bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is located in the back of the house with a separate entrance way. It is nice for any parties who may want a little extra privacy. We did a lot of cooking on this trip and the kitchen was more than equipped. The air conditioning throughout the entire house is also a huge plus. One of the best parts of the home is the large pool - it's great for all ages and has lots of room to fit larger groups. Overall we had a great trip to Costa Rica and can't wait to go back. We will definitely be staying at Casa Bonita for our next trip!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our stay at Casa Bonita was amazing. We stayed for 10 days with our four children, our son-in-law and our daughter's boyfriend, all between the ages of 15 and 24, to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Casa Bonita was the perfect vacation spot for our celebration It was everything it was promised to be. The grounds were beautiful, amazingly private and extremely secure. The gardener came every morning and did a wonderful job of keeping the pool clean and the property looking its best. And the house was perfect for our group. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and the air conditioners in every room were perfect for pleasing everyone. Natalie did an excellent job of keeping the place immaculate and her and Ludo were so friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of information for planning our excursions which were all lots of fun as well. We did a ziplining/tubing/horseback riding excursion, spent a day on a sailboat with Captain Brad and atv'd in the hills of Tamarindo. In all it was a perfect way to celebrate with our family. I would definately recommend this property to friends and family.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Our family recently spent 3 wonderful weeks at Casa Bonita. We have 3 children so many hours were spent in the pool and in the ocean which was conveniently a short walk. The restaurants in the gated community were all great and kid friendly. Natalie, Ludo, and Sharr were extremely accommodating and made our first trip to Costa Rica wonderful. The zip lining tour was awesome and something that everyone of all ages could enjoy. The estuary tour was great too. The kids enjoyed seeing the many beautiful birds, monkeys, and alligators. All in all we had a fabulous time in Costa Rica and we hope to visit again soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our stay at Casa Bonita was too short! Everything was perfect: the beauty of the area and the beach, the beauty of the house, the cleanliness, the friendliness of the hosts Nathalie and Ludo. The photos and description represent exactly what Casa Bonita is! We sincerely hope to have the chance to return to Casa Bonita in a near future. Thank you for allowing us to discover this little paradise!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

We stayed at Casa Bonita the last week of September and the first week of October 2011. This was supposed to be "rainy" season, but we wanted a place to relax by a pool and be near the beach without the hustle and bustle of a hotel. It rained mainly in the evening or at night. We had beautiful hot weather for the entire two weeks. What can we say? Paradise, simply Paradise. The kitchen was the best equipped we'd ever seen in a rental home. We love to cook and did most of our own cooking. The housekeepers, Nathalie and Ludo are the kindest, friendliest and most accommodating people you could ask for; always willing to help and go the whole nine yards to make your stay a rememberable one. And we must not forget Cocoyo, the "pool man" and landscaper. He is so quiet, you wouldn't even know he was there, but what a beautiful job he did. The pool was always crystal clear and the wonderful lush trees and grass were trimmed to perfection. This was one of the advantages of visiting Costa Rica during rainy season - everything was green ! The house was immaculate, the beds were comfortable and I was truly satisfied with the coziness of both the inside and outdoor garden/pool area. Bjorn and Iris, the owners of the home made sure we knew exactly what to expect at their home; made sure we had our pick-up and drop-off at the airport and were extremely patient in answering all our questions prior to arrival. We really didn't do much sightseeing, by choice, as we truly needed a good rest, and this was the ideal spot for us; we came home well rested, tanned, and ready to go back next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We stayed at Casa Bonita with 2 other couples in March 2011 and found it to be the perfect place to stay. Playa Grande is a quiet place with a beautiful beach and has easy access to a town-Tamarindo-if you desire. It has several good restaurants and a small grocery store so other than an intial trip to the supermarket, we had everything we needed right there. Casa Bonita is roomy with it's 4 bedrooms and 3 baths but we spent most of our time outside on the patio or in the pool on the floats we bought! The grounds are beautiful and the plants provided shaded areas for those who wanted some in the middle of the day. We've rented houses in different places in the world and we all agreed this was one of the best! Ludo and Nathalie were very helpful and Bjorn was great to deal with and patiently answered all my emails. We spent a few days at Arenal before heading to Playa Grande and while in Playa Grande we walked the beach alot and watched the surfers, boogie boarded, zip lined (arranged by Nathalie), ate at all of the restaurants in Palm Beach Estates and did an estuary tour, which you should not miss. We felt very safe in this home and this area. (Our apologies to the neighbors for the couple of times we set the alarm off...) We are headed back to Playa Grande again this winter because we loved it so much but unfortunately cannot stay at Casa Bonita again as there will only be 2 of us going. You can be sure that if this were not the case we would be right back there again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

I recently spent a week in Costa Rica, and stayed with some friends at Casa Bonita. It was a wonderful location. Less than 5 minutes walking distance from the beach in a safe, gated neighborhood. Only a few minutes boat ride to the town of Tamarindo, or about a 30minute drive. The landscaping was amazing. It truly looked like a private, tropical paradise. There were cute little frogs & crabs running around at night. Ludo & Nathalie, the caretakers of the property were so incredibly nice & helpful. They were a wealth of information, helped us book tours, & answered any question we had about the surrounding area. They checked in with us daily to see if we needed anything, and kept the house neat & clean while we were out. I definitely recommend this place, it made for a lovely home base!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

There just aren't enough superlatives to do justice to Casa Bonita. With three generations of our family, ranging in age from 2 to 65, this place worked perfectly for all of us. For the 2 year old, the beach and birds, pool and tropical vegetation provided endless fascinations. For the surfers, the waves were consistently good, For the cook, the kitchen was better equipped that many North American ones, as well as a barbecue for fresh fish. All of us watched the sunset on the beach every night--about a hundred metres from the front gate. We spent much of every day in the pool (which included a corner shady spot), and the 5 year old swam several lengths on her own for the first time. For those of us interested in serious relaxation, we had a choice of air-conditioned inside couches, outside patio couches, or poolside recliners. The spaciousness of Casa Bonita means that you're never in each other's way, but can also sit comfortably all together at the large outside table, on the patio, in the living room, or around the pool. The caretakers, Nathalie and Ludo, seems to know everything and everyone you might need, and their English is excellent. This is an utterly charming, private, and cozy spot.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

Why the Owner Chose Playa Grande:
When we first came to Costa Rica 10 years we were thrilled and deeply moved by its friendly people, stunning nature and unparalleled conservation message. Travelling is our hobby so in the subsequent years we added lots of "pins to our travel map" all around the world but nothing compares to the beauty and environmental conservation in Costa Rica. Playa Grande combines the best of all: Nature, Beauty, Beach and Wilderness. It is the perfect spot - for your vacation and our retirement!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
1. Location in Playa Grande:
Playa Grande is a beautiful long beach that you will enjoy discovering. Because of its length it is important that you choose a vacation home that is close to your priorities. Casa Bonita is only steps away from the beach and also only 100 meters away from the convenience store.
Additionally, we are only 300 metres from the ferry boats that get you over the estuary and to Tamarindo in a few minutes for a small tip. If you want to have dinner in Tamrindo please book a boat for your return in advance. The staff at restaurant Bula Bula will help you with that.
2. Service:
Nathalie and Ludo are our amazing caretakers who help us with the house and will help with anything you need during your vacation. They have been living in CR for 10 years and know the country and area very well. They will welcome you at Casa Bonita when you arrive and show you the house. Ludo & Nathalie live close by and will always be your contact partner. They can also help you with organized trips and tours upon request.
3. Water:
Guanacaste can have water shortage in the dry season. We always ask our guests to be responsible with water usage but Casa Bonita provides a 2500 liter tank which allows us to limit the risk of water shortage. It may sound trivial especially when you come from a country where this is not an issue, but some houses do lack a proper pump system and water pressure can be an issue. Casa Bonita provides North American standards and a constant ater pressure.
