Escape the hustle of Anchorage and stay at our cozy 1 bedroom condo that’s outfitted the way an Alaskan vacation spot should be. No futons or flowery comforters here. We have a heavenly, pillow-topped King bed, faux suede down duvet, wood burning fireplace and Jacuzzi tub. If you must work, we offer free wireless, phone and cable.
Original wildlife photography, native baskets & artwork, even an authentic old gold pan are some of the touches we hope you’ll appreciate.
Nightly, weekly or longer term stays as well as winter ski-season stays available. Sleeps 1-4 comfortably, 5 if we have to! Ground floor, easy parking & access.
We’re just a 25 minute drive heading south from the Anchorage airport to the quaint town of Girdwood Alaska. Mount Alyeska in Girdwood offers endless mountain hiking/biking, skiing/boarding, gold panning, berry picking, fishing, or just sightseeing/relaxing. You’re likely to see a black bear wandering around town and they even show up around our condo as well. How cool is that?
The Alyeska Resort operates a tram year round and the views of the mountains, water and 7 surrounding glaciers are just amazing! The hotel has a spa, pool and an assortment of restaurants. The Mercantile in town offers essential groceries and movie rentals or you can stop at Carr's on Huffman road as you are heading out of town to pick up your favorite grill items and cook them on our Jennair. Or, keep our Jennair clean (and our cleaner happier) and head over to Maxine's for creative, fantastic food and often live music. Maxine's and Jack Sprat both offer very unique menus. Or save your appetite for the world famous Double Musky. If you really want to impress someone, take the tram to the 7 Glaciers restaurants at the top of Mt. Alyeska. Nearby attractions such as Portage Glacier and the Big Game Wildlife Center are just a short drive. The town of Whittier is a little further and offers saltwater sightseeing tours that are breathtaking.
Still not convinced you want to drive all-the-way-to-Girdwood?? Get out of Anchorage and start experiencing the “real” Alaska!! The scenic drive along the Turnagain Arm waterway offers ever changing views. There’s a good chance you’ll see a bore tide, Beluga whales or curious white Dall sheep peering at you from a rocky perch along the road. Along the drive you can stretch or hike at McHugh Creek Park. Blink and you’ll miss the outpost of Indian where there’s a small museum and the Indian Valley Meats center that offers tours of wild game processing. Their reindeer jerky and sausage are unique. Quench your thirst at the Turnagain House for great steaks and seafood with a view of the inlet. They even serve razor clams which you have to try once! Visitors often trek to the Kenai Peninsula to fish, dig clams, visit the Seward marine center or even head all the way to Homer for halibut fishing (well worth it). From Girdwood, you’re just one step closer to all these great sites and memories so it’s a great base from which to see both Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula. And did we mention, you won't be stuck in Anchorage?

Year Purchased: 1990
3rd Generation Alaskan that left Alaska to find fame and fortune but can't leave Alaska behind. After bringing the family nearly every year to Alaska to fish, dig clams and visit, we're finally ready to share it with others.
Why the Owner Chose Anchorage
We bought this condo when we were young and, honestly, flat broke. It was the right price, but more importantly, we wanted to have a place in Girdwood.
