not as good as it seems.

The property, lake and grounds were pretty much as described .The lake was as stated ;very shallow and warm. Great for the smaller kids .Along with a nice sized yard, the lake was definitely the strong point of the property. The problem was one of ommission. The property is very old and not air conditioned. the stairs up to the small 2nd floor bedrooms is quite steep and without a guard rail . Not real friendly for small children. The real problem ,however, was cleanliness. The front of the house was very dirty .The screens ,windows and fixtures were cover with cob webs and dirt. Not a very good first impression. The patios were caked with sand ,dirt and leaves. Neither could have been cleaned in a quite some time. The thing that really spoiled it for us was the kitchen of the larger unit. It has a dropped ceiling made of transparent plastic panels. The top side of the panels were covered with hundreds of bugs both alive and dead. Many seemed to be big flying ants. Not exactly want you want to see in the kitchen. The butcher block counter top had several black spots on it which we tryed to clean with disenifectant. We ended up just covering it.We did all the cooking and food prep in the other kitchen. We were going to just walk away from it but the grandkids put up a fuss and wanted to stay. We did end up staying, making the best of it and had a nice time. However, I would not recommend this property to anyone
Owner response:We are always disappointed when we don't meet our guest's expectations. We take comments from our guests very seriously and have addressed the issues raised with our housekeepers. A few dead bugs were removed from kitchen ceiling panels but there were none alive. Mid-summer dirt was swept from the front siding. I believe this renter's greatest disappointment is not stated. Part of his security deposit was charged for damage to furniture and boat. It is rare when the full security deposit is not refunded following departure and we regret is was appropriate this time.

JUST HAD MY FAMILY OF 14 THERE FOR A HOT WEEK IN JULY 2010. IT WAS GREAT. THE OWNER WAS WONDERFUL, THE LAKE WAS GREAT, HOWEVER VERY SHALLOW. GREAT FOR YOUNG KIDS TO SWIM. EVERYTHING WAS VERY CLEAN, AND WE HAD NO COMPLAINTS, I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE, ESPECIALLY WITH YOUNG KIDS. THE LISTING WAS AS DESCRIBED, I WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. BUCKY'S STONE RIDGE RESTAURANT IS AWESOME.
Owner response:Thank you Joe. It was a pleasure having you and we look forward to seeing you again next year. I haven't tried the Stone Ridge Restaurant since it was Bucky's. I'm glad it's good again.

We were looking for a big cottage min 4 bedr. for two night stay. This cottage was the only option we found since nobody wanted to rent for 2 nights only. The owner was very prompt with all the information. We loved the cottage a lot. Mainly because it was on the waterfront and the beach was shallow. Therefore kids could be in the water by their own. I would highly recommend this cottage to somebody who is looking for a nice place to stay with kids.

This is our 2nd year staying at the cottage. We enjoy the ease and coziness of the home. There is always so much to do within a short distance 1/2 hr or 40 mins drive etc. The lake is like glass (kids love the activities Ages 10 and 12) and quite picturesque. We love the fire pit and indulge in local wines. We have attended the local Catholic church. At least once a visit we eat at LaCatina in Paw Paw YUM!! ENJOY!!
