Lakefront Condo - Ten Steps to the Beach

Year Purchased: 2007

Why the Owner Chose Tahoma

My parents rented a condo in this same complex when I was 11 years old. Who would have thought 28 years later I would be the proud owner of a lakefront unit just a few doors down from the condo we rented back then? I want my kids to enjoy the same experiences I had growing up and spending time "at the Lake." For me, the West Shore of Lake Tahoe feels like Tahoe probably did 50 years ago; quiet, relaxing, less developed, quaint corner markets, local restaurants, and shops. The West Shore really is the best shore.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo

There is nothing better than pouring a nice glass of wine as the sun is setting and relaxing on the front patio overlooking the mountains and panoramic lake view. We also enjoy taking the boat down to Sunnyside, West Shore Cafe, or Chambers Landing for dinner during the summer. I especially enjoy bringing friends up to the condo and watching their reaction when they realize how close to the water the condo is and how beautiful the surrounding area is.

A
Chamber's Landing Bar and Restaurant

1.4 miles, 3 minutes - Chambers Landing is the oldest bar on Lake Tahoe. We serve a wide selection of items from the barbeque including Hamburgers, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Grilled Bratwurst and an assortment of salads including our Grilled Chicken Caesar, a deck favorite. A Kids Menu is also available. Known for its pristine views of Lake Tahoe and its access by boat from the lake, Chamber’s Landing is Lake Tahoe’s favorite summer family hotspot.

B
Homewood Ski Resort

2.4 miles, 4 minutes - Homewood Mountain Resort owns over 1,260 acres of the best skiing and snowboarding terrain in the Lake Tahoe region. From groomed boulevards to our trademark hidden powder stashes, Homwood has it all. And with Ellis Peak sheltering our entire mountain from the high-ridge winds, the term "wind hold" hasn't been used at Homewood in years. With an average snowfall of around 450 inches per season, and a whopping 300 days of sunshine per year, it's no wonder that SKI Magazine ranked Homewood 12th in its 2001 reader's poll.

C
West Shore Cafe and Inn

2.4 miles, 4 minutes - The West Shore Cafe is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe, mere steps from Homewood Mountain Resort on Tahoe's west shore. With its beautiful surroundings and warm ambiance, the West Shore Cafe is an approachable, must-visit destination for residents and visitors looking for spectacular lake-front dining – whether arriving by car or walking across the street from Homewood Mountain Resort.

D
Sunnyside Restaurant & Lodge

6.4 miles, 11 minutes - Throughout a long history dating back to its construction as a summer house in 1906, Sunnyside Lodge has been a integral part of lake activity and Tahoe’s romantic past. Our lakefront deck is Tahoe’s largest, and is a popular gathering place for vacationers as well as locals. Families and friends old and new meet at Sunnyside Lodge to enjoy the view and the great food. The fun, carefree atmosphere puts everyone in a good mood, and it’s not uncommon for us to serve dinner to a group of friends who had planned on enjoying an afternoon on the deck overlooking Lake Tahoe, but decided to hang around a while longer.

E
Alpine Meadows Ski Resort

14.6 miles, 26 minutes - Alpine Meadows Ski Resort on the beautiful North Shore of Lake Tahoe California has been a favorite of Tahoe locals for decades. With 2400 acres of skiable terrain and one of the longest skiing and boarding seasons in Lake Tahoe, it's no wonder people of all abilities flock to this winter retreat. In addition to Alpine Meadows Resort, the selection of Lake Tahoe skiing and snowboarding in this mountain paradise is hard to match. The area boasts are over 20 ski areas to fit all types of skiers and snowboarders.

F
Squaw Valley Ski Resort

15.1 miles, 25 minutes - Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Olympic Valley, California, is one of the largest ski areas in the United States, and was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. It is the second-largest ski area at Lake Tahoe after Heavenly, with 33 chairlifts, and has the only funitel lift in the U.S. The resort attracts approximately 600,000 skiers a year. Located in the Sierra Nevada, with a base of 6,200 ft (1,900 m) and spread across 6 peaks and 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) the resort tops out at 9,050 ft (2,760 m) above sea level at Granite Chief.[1] The area receives heavy maritime snowfall, frequently receiving 40 ft (12 m) or more in a winter. A scenic aerial tramway carries visitors to

G
Coyote Moon Golf Course

23.8 miles, 35 minutes - Coyote Moon Golf Course is one of the finest mountain golf experiences in the country. The course sits on 250 acres of secluded rolling hills amidst towering pines, enormous granite outcroppings, wildflowers and the beautiful Trout Creek. The vistas plus fresh mountain air equals near perfection. Without a single home to spoil the view, playing Coyote Moon offers an experience seldom found in golf today

H
Casinos - Stateline, NV

23.6 miles, 42 minutes - South Lake Tahoe casino resorts include MontBleu, Harrah's, Harveys, Horizon, and the Lakeside Inn.

I
Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course

24.1 miles, 44 minutes - Set along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Tahoe, Edgewood Tahoe has been a world-class destination for golf, dining, weddings and special events since 1968. Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course is rated by Golf Digest as one of "America's Top Golf Courses." Challenging yet fair, the course designed by lengendary architect, George Fazio with enhancements by similarly celebrated designer, Tom Fazio, has been the home of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship for the last 21 years, as well as host of the U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Public Links. And equally remarkable, the Edgewood Tahoe Restaurant has remained the ultimate in South Lake Tahoe fine dining for the over last 40 years.

J
Heavenly Ski Resort

28.8 miles, 54 minutes - Overlooking the sapphire-blue waters of Lake Tahoe, Heavenly ski resort is one of the most unique snowsports destinations on the planet. Skiing and snowboarding at Heavenly presents you with a number of different choices. With more terrain variety, more hidden glades, more rippin' groomers than any Lake Tahoe resort, you've got plenty of decisions to make.

K
Spindleshanks American Bistro and Wine Bar

16.5 miles, 26 minutes - Spindleshanks American Bistro and Wine Bar represents the best of both old and new Lake Tahoe. Its rustic building, which still evokes the feel of a traditional mountain lodge despite any incarnations, dates back to the days when Lake Tahoe mainly was accessible by steamship and train. Yet one look at it's contemporary menu and extensive wine list and it's clear that Spindleshanks is a restaurant for the 21st century. Opened in 2000, Spindleshanks has become a Tahoe Vista, Calif., institution in a short amount of time. By offering regional American Cuisine and a variety of wines in a casual atmosphere, the pair created a dining experience that caters to both large families and couples seeking a romantic%

L
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa, and Casino

Reconnect with family – and yourself – while enjoying the natural wonders in and around our remarkable Lake Tahoe, Nevada hotel.

M
Bite American Tapas

23.5 miles, 36 minutes - At Bite, we like to think that we create an environment as inviting as the menu is intriguing. We hope that all our guests, be they long-time regulars or first-time visitors, feel welcome and at ease when at Bite. If you are looking for good company and great conversation Bite's island-shaped bar is the answer. A community gathering place, Bite's bar is a welcoming spot to watch a game, catch up on the latest with your bartender, or just chat with friends - old and new.

Owner's Map of Tahoma

We live near the beach in Aptos, CA; close to Santa Cruz. As a busy executive for a major medical device company, there is nothing better than getting away and relaxing on the shores of Lake Tahoe with my two young sons, Grant and Ethan. They love going to the condo on the West Shore, and will spend hours outside the front door playing on the beach, or enjoying a swim in the community pool. We also enjoy countless hours on our boat exploring Lake Tahoe in the summer and hitting the local slopes during the winter months.

We had an incredible time at Water's Edge #2. The views are amazing from the condo - we raised the blinds the moment we checked in and never lowered them for the remainder of the week.. We spent most of our time sitting on the front patio taking in the ever changing view of the lake, beach, and mountains. We will make this an annual vacation spot for many years to come. Thank you.
