We had a wonderful time at Bass lake with everything from the fresh air to the lake to the incredible sights and hikes in Yosemite only to be rewarded with a relaxing soak in the hot tub after an active day. The cabin was clean and felt like home. I truly appreciated the tips and directions for near by establishments. Thank you Wendy and Mark for sharing you adorable 2nd home with us. We hope to be back.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonder time. Hot tub was perfect after hiking all day in Yosemite. Wood burning stove was nice and warmed the house perfectly. Beds are comfy, kitchen has everything you need, lots of games, book and a nice little collection of movies. The drive to the entrance of Yosemite is about 20-25 minutes and then the drive into the valley takes 40-45 minutes. Perfect location if you don't want to spend at least double to stay within the park area. Would definitively go back to this cabin and do more of the amazing hikes at Yosemite. Thank you

Four of us stayed in this cabin during the Thanksgiving vacation and had a wonderful time. The cabin was furnished with just about any and everything we could want or need. We prepared a full Thanksgiving meal without lacking for anything. The setting is just beautiful, even with the lake drained for repairs to the dam. Tall, fragrant pine trees all around and spectacular views of the mountains from the deck hot tub. Also, despite other houses in the area, this place feels very private. The day trip to Yosemite Valley is a lengthy drive over twisty roads but well worth the effort.. The town of Oakhurst is quaint. We had a very good dinner at Crab Cakes Restaurant (which serves an interesting combination of seafood and bakery goodies). The cabin owners are very nice people and we didn't have any problems. I would recommend it.

Beautiful spot.Very cozy comfortable for a couple. It's perfect for a 2nd honeymoon (25th anniversary) - nicely decorated, quiet, secluded location, beautiful views, inviting hot tub. It was exactly what we were looking for. A bit far from Yosemite, (1 hour, 20 mins) but most places are. Also highly recommend El Cid's for mexican food just North of Oakhurst.
Owner response:We're glad that it was perfect for you. Honeymooners and Second Honeymooners really enjoy our cozy cabin. Just to clarify: the drive to the entrance to Yosemite is 20 minutes. Once inside the park gates, depending upon road conditions and traffic, it can take from 40-60 minutes to drive down into Yosemite Valley.

First off, thanks so much to Wendy for all the helpful suggestions and emails. We found everything we needed inside the cabin and plenty of info on the local area. This cabin was really a "home away from home". Clean property. Found plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Loved using the gas BBQ for a few of our meals as well. If you stay here, note that the stove heats up quickly so watch your food carefully! The food to "share" was great to have handy - we used a little and left a quite a few condiments of ours for the next guests. Also liked the eating area in the kitchen. Beds were very comfy and there was tons of storage. Wish there were pictures of the baths here, they were really nice! Full sized washer/dryer was great. Plenty of water pressure and hot water too. The living room furniture was very inviting. The work table was perfect for our laptops and there were books, games, and movies to keep kids entertained. The broadband internet connection was really good and the cable TV worked. We didn't connect to the WIFI in order to give any feedback. (Absolutely no T-mobile service at Bass Lake or Yosemite, but it did work in Oakhurst.) Hot tub was heavenly. We used the portable cooler for the afternoon heat and it worked well. I have praise for the location as well. Being at the north end of the lake made it easy to get to the main road to go to either to town or into Yosemite. It is a full hour drive to the Valley up a windy mountain road, but you really can't get much closer unless you stay inside the park for many more $$$. Mariposa Grove and Wowona are close and worth visiting and hiking around. We also day tripped to Sequoia/Kings Canyon - 2.5 hours drive each way. The driveway was steep gravel with a hairpin turn, but we got up it no problem with a full sized car. Might be a little tricky when there is snow though. There was plenty of parking by the front door. Tip: Follow owner's directions to the house. Our GPS sent us to the wrong side of the lake! Overall we had a great time. Great $ value for the area as well. Thanks again for making our first VRBO rental a success - we will definitely use the service again. Hoping we can return to Yosemite sometime. It is truly a hiker's paradise and a week just isn't long enough. It would be cool to see the waterfalls at their best in May, though they were surprisingly good this year for September. Also, we had a good Lake view off the deck even though the water level was pretty low.
Owner response:Thanks for such a thoughtful and thorough review! You've done a lot to provide helpful tips for future renters. We'd love to have you for a return visit.

My wife and I did a trip to Yosemite as part of of honeymoon through CA and were intent on staying some where near the park but not inside. This property was perfect! The cabin is very close to the south entrance of the park and about an hour's drive from the Valley - which provided a beautifully scenic drive through Yosemite. The cabin felt remote and yet it was a short drive to the small town nearby for everything we needed (groceries, a margarita after a long day of hiking, and a last minute effort to find a pack for the park). The view of the lake from the back deck is the best way to spend a sunset - especially from the hot tub. My wife and I had a hard time convincing ourselves to come inside. With the view, the hot tub, and a grill and table to make dinner, we had everything we needed to enjoy the quiet nights. The cabin itself is in great shape: clean and spacious; the WiFi worked well; we never used the television - but there was a movie library; plenty of books and games for entertainment. We really enjoyed making breakfast in the stocked kitchen and eating in the wonderful little nook. There is also a large washer and dryer which was useful after several days of exploring Yosemite. The owners were responsive and we got our deposit back immediately. The stay was a welcome retreat and we'd highly recommend it.

This was a good place to stay, we were very pleased with the property. The location was good - away from Yosemite but not too far to travel in especially to Sequoia Grove. Wouldn't want to make the trip everyday but the great thing about Bass Lake was the little beaches and the chance to hire kayaks and paddle boards at Millers Landing so we were just as happy around the lake. Not too far to Oakhurst either to get groceries. Owners description was accurate, and clean and tidy, but not so fancy you would worry about letting the children loose inside. The kitchen was well equipped and the stove ect pretty straight forward to use. We used the hot tub a couple of times, which was great, and the basketball hoop (though we were a little worried about losing the ball over the fence and down the hill!). Found the croquet set as well. I was worried about the description of the drive before arriving but this wasn't a problem and there was plenty of room to park the car outside the cabin. The cabin was very hot when we were there - stupidly I didn't spot the A/C unit until we were due to leave. I was surprised we were expected to wash the sheets and towels, I shouldn't have been as this was clearly set out by the owners, but this took no time in reality as the large washer and dryer were so efficient.
Owner response:We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our vacation home and that you and your children availed yourselves of some of the extra features like basketball, croquet, etc. Both Bass Lake and Yosemite have a lot to offer visitors to the area. We just ask that you get the sheets and towels started in the wash before you leave so that the cleaner will have time to finish them up before the next guests arrive. This is a common practice among cabin owners because there is a short turn-around time. Thank you again for being great guests! We love having visitors from abroad!

My family and I all loved staying here. It was a fantastic base to come back to every day after our adventures. The hot tub was a huge hit, even our teenage son approved........... It had everything you needed and the space both outside and in was great. The location excellent the proximity to Yosemite and Oakhurst was really good. Will definitely recommend to friends and if we ever travel that way again would love to stay. Val, Keith and Harry Poynton Cheshire UK

We had a great time in your home at Bass Lake, a real home from home experience with everything we could have needed. Kids loved the basketball hoop and spent hours playing in the garden. We also took a boat on lake for a day and did some tubing. We will certainly consider coming back for longer (and outside of a national holiday period) next time we visit California.

My husband and I stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was perfect - clean, comfy, and relaxing. We drove in to Yosemite each day of our stay and went hiking, then returned for a soak in the hot tub. There are quite a few restaurants within driving distance and a full kitchen if you decide to cook.

My husband and I stayed 3 days and really enjoyed the place. The pictures show just how it looks. The master bed was very comfortable, the kitchen well stocked (even things like foil, coffee, spices, sugar, salt, pepper) and the hot tub nice and warm. But, we do have two complaints. First, the bed appeared to be made, but no sheets were on it. They were under some extra blankets sitting on top of the bed. So, we were tired and climbing into bed and discovered we had to make it. That has never happened to us before. Then when leaving you have to wash, dry and fold the sheets. Then wash and dry the towels you used (instructions said you could leave the towels drying in the dryer if you needed to leave). And you do pay a cleaning fee, which I thought meant they cleaned not me. We have stayed at several VRBO places and have never been asked to do the laundry. Not sure we will go back to this place because of those things, but if that doesn't bother you then go for it.
Owner response:We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our cozy cabin and we appreciate the feedback. The reason we leave the sheets folded on the beds is to assure the guests that they are fresh and clean. We do ask guests to start washing the sheets and towels on the day of their departure because there is a small window of time between checkout (at 11 am) and check-in (at 3 pm) and we have been very very busy this season. We're sorry that you were inconvenienced.

My family and I had a fantastic time at this cabin.. it's beautiful, serene and peaceful. There are also plenty of things to do for entertainment. The deck with hot tub was where we spent most of our time BBQing and relaxing, enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. Our boys enjoyed the basketball court outside and plenty of places to explore on the hill side. Going down to the lake was very easy, just a quick drive about 1/2 mile. Like the photos display, the cabin itself was cozy, comfortable, beautifully decorated and equipt with everything you may need from home. We can't wait until our next trip and we will recommend this cabin to others we know. Thank you for a lovely memory!

Cabin is very comfortable and clean. Owners are very responsive to questions and comments during the stay. The bedrooms are separated for added privacy. The cabin has everything that you could probably need in it. Bed is very comfortable. Cell phone reception is poor in the whole area but there is a local phone in the cabin so I suggest bringing a long distance calling card. Cabin is in a great location. Owners returned deposit promptly.

Our stay at the cabin can only be described as delightful. The cabin has a true homely feel, everywhere was lovely and clean and nicely presented but it was a "home" and not a sterile hotel room. It was lovely to have comfy furniture to relax on, games to play, films to watch and full range of equipment in the kitchen to use. The cabin was just as described and shown on the photo's We used the cabin as a base from which to visit Yosemite and although it was a drive away we would definitely stay again as the whole family enjoyed our stay. The cabin has great views and is just a short walk from the lakeside so it was easy to fill the days if you did not want to travel.
Owner response:Dear Sharon, Thank you for your kind words! We're always extra pleased to host visitors from other countries, because it's the same sort of setting that we look for when we have the opportunity to travel. We hope you'll come again! Wendy

My family a wonderful time while staying in this very comfortable and roomy cottage. Each bedroom has its own bath and the kitchen has all of the items you'll need. The wine bottle opener came in handy. There are BBQ grills and a hot tub where we star gazing from. It had rained a lot before we got there and the front door stuck. We used the side door. We especially liked it because it is close to Yosemite NP and on a lake with boat rentals. The driveway is steep and gravel but is easy to drive and down. There was plenty of room for my wife and three kids. If we go back to Yosemite, while stay here again.
Owner response:Thanks for your kind words,Keith! We're so glad that your trip from Alabama was a great one. That front door is fixed now.

Aug 22-29, 2009 Mark & Wendy-So comfy & cozy to share your cabin with our daughter & her husband, plus the boys! Little Levi (6 weeks) enjoyed his first boat ride and Trenton & Melissa tubed until Andrew gave up trying to shake 'em off. As I sit here, on our last evening, Trenton is reading, Melissa is looking at something on the computer, Zack (2 yrs 3 mos) is asleep, as is little Levi. Soon we will all get in the hot tub again. Bass Lake was so much fun. Andrew anchored his boat on a nearby beach and we went out every day except Wed (when we went to Yosemite). Andrew & Trenton had never been to Yosemite before, so it was special. All the discoveries you hope people will make at your cabin were (probably) made: water slides, hiking, stars from the hot tub, tubing, Yosemite, etc... Thank you! Thank you! Thank You! Katy, Alex, et al. :) :) :) :) :) Best Vacation in years. Alex

Bass Lake has always been one of our favorite places and now we've discovered the perfect place to stay while enjoying the lake. The cabin is cozy, but can accomodate a good size group. There is plenty of decking and yard space to pitch a tent. The hot tub is a real treat and for those who just can't bear to be out of touch, there is an internet connection. Yosemite is just an hour away. What more can you ask for? Make reservations, go, stay and enjoy beautiful scenery and a cozy cabin.
Owner response:Thanks so much; we're glad you enjoyed it! Yosemite is actually much closer than an hour, but it can take an hour to drive into the valley.
