Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1999
Hi! I am a Human Resources Manager living in Portland, Oregon. I am from an Air Force family and had an incredible opportunity to travel and live in different parts of the U.S. and Asia. So, I have the "wanderlust" and love to "live the life" of the areas I travel to. Favorite place so far -- villa in Tuscany!! Have an incredibly loving family - 2 sisters, nieces and nephews!! Raising a 2 yr old West Highland Terrier - keeps me on my toes. I love to garden, snow ski, travel and spend time with great friends - wine tasting, gourmet cooking, etc. New hobby - teaching myself to knit!
Why the Owner Chose Eagle Crest
So, I built this chalet at Eagle Crest in Central Oregon 12 years ago, during a fight for my life with Breast Cancer -- surgery, 6 months of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation ! I am now a 13-year survivor and enjoying life everyday!! Why I chose to buy the chalet in Central Oregon? Well, Eagle Crest (Redmond, Oregon) receives 300 days of sunshine a year. So, it is a great place to go (just a 2.5-3 hour drive from Portland) summer or winter when the rain and dreariness gets to me. Also, Eagle Crest Resort is so beautiful and the air smells so wonderful from the juniper trees!! It is so peaceful!
The Unique Benefits of this House
The number one benefit I enjoy while staying at my chalet is how I feel when I walk through that front door -- "Sans Souci" (means without a care or worry in French). We found the name in the book, "The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" - it was their summer hideout! I just leave all the stress, worries, issues behind! It is very quiet and I love sitting on the deck early in the morning listening to the birds chirping and basking in the sunshine! Or watching the deer come up to the deck in the winter looking for a little food from the sage and scrub brush (they even make an appearance in the summer sometimes). Also, the living room, kitchen area and loft is knotty wood pine and there is a river rock fireplace that makes you feel like you have walked into a mountain cabin!! I think it is unique to feel like you are in a mountain cabin but on the 6th Fairway of a golf course! Other benefits that are not necessarily unique are the options to do almost any type of activity - sports, nature, spa, etc. - anything that you might be interested in trying within a 0-45 minute radius! It is such a great place to gather with friends and family.. I would love for you to enjoy it too!!

Christmas 2011 in the Chalet

My family and I headed to Eagle Crest for Christmas this year, and what a great time we had! The Chalet was beautiful! It was very clean, and the pine wood interior was incredible. We only had a few things that we weren't expecting, we thought the living room was bigger and the fire place is wood not gas.... Two very minor little things, but something that is good to know for next time as the duraflame logs aren't cheap! Other then that we had no complaints, we will definitely be going back again soon, and next year!

We stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful, relaxing time. We chose central Oregon over the Oregon coast because we wanted warm, sunny weather and we weren't disappointed. It was perfect. There were different activities for the kids to do every day and we all had a great time playing the putting course. We also swam every day and enjoyed all three of the swimming pools. Our favorite was the pool with the spray park. The house had plenty of space and all the comforts of home. It has a nice kitchen and dining area. I liked that we were able to eat all of our meals at the house and avoid the expense and hassle of taking a family of 5 out to restaurants. Another big bonus was the hot tub. We loved sitting in the hot tub and looking up at the stars. We had such a good time that we're going back for another visit in two weeks.
Owner response:I am always striving to make guests' stay enjoyable. Thanks for the feedback and look forward to you coming back soon!

My family and I had the best time while staying at Sans Souci. The chalet was complete with everything we needed to have a wonderful vacation. We cooked on the grill, soaked in the hot tub, played games, and spent many afternoons exploring the pools and rec. areas around Eagle Crest. We had family with us from ages 18 months to 50's and there was something for everyone! We truely enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return. We will defintely use this home again!
Owner response:Thanks so much for the feedback! My whole purpose for sharing Sans Souci, is for others to enjoy the surroundings, the peace and serenity and most of all - to have fun!! So happy your family had a great time!

Disappointing

Wifi was advertised but not available which was disappointing (I see it has now been taken off the list of amenities). When we went to put our steaks on the grill, we learned the propane tank was empty. There was no soap and no paper towels. The carpet was very dirty. When we called the owner about the propane tank, she never called us back. We had much difficulty getting the DVD player to work and finally gave up (there were no written instructions).
Owner response:I truly appreciate the feedback from this guest. I have had so much direct positive feedback (unfortunately, not recorded here!) There was a misunderstanding regarding property management expectations and the service I use, this has now been resolved. In addition, I was not aware of the condition of the carpet in the chalet due to the fact that it has been booked back to back since May, this is also being taken care. I will provide written instructions for the DVD when I am able to enter the property late August/early September. Again, thanks for the feedback and I will do my very best to ensure the next guest will not be disappointed.
