This Grand Haven property is great for indoor and outdoor life even in winter. Two fireplaces (one in small sunken living area) warm, cosy and clean, with all amenities. Also great outdoors for bikers, walkers, skiers, swimmers and beach lovers. The property is right ON the 20-mile bike path that connects Grand Haven and Holland and is across the street from Buchanan Beach*. There is an outdoor pool, open throught the end of September. The Buchanan beach is about 100 yards wide - it is rarely crowded and you can walk for miles on the beach in either direction, stay for a glorious September sunset.
Location: We are about 6 miles south of the town of Grand Haven -- GH is a straight shot up Lake Shore Drive to Main Street (great shopping and restaurants) so it only takes about 10 minutes to get there and it's a pretty drive.
We also are only 1 mile north of Lake Michigan Drive, so convenient to Grand Rapids by that route. Grocery stores (good ones) are about 4 miles away on north 31, also about 10 minutes to get to by car. There is a basic necessities store about 2 miles away.
In September, the swimming pool stays open. The private swimming pool is nice-sized, with diving board, slide and plenty of patio space, and chairs, with bar-b-que grill and picnic table. The swimming pool is not heated but there is an insulated cover so the temperature is normally about 80 degrees. The back yard is surrounded by pines and has a nice feeling of privacy.
The house is open-plan, with cathedral ceilings, ceiling fans and sky-windows, with a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows looking onto the pool. The main living area has a fireplace, sunken sofa, dining table and another sofa and bamboo chairs, casual but comfortable.
Full kitchen with everything you will need - bring food and drink.
Bedrooms - there are 3 double bedrooms, all of good size(two with Queen beds and one with 2 twins).
The 4th bedroom is a carpeted room in the basement with 2 queen beds on the floor, so the 4th bedroom is much more of a bunk room. There is also a large carpeted play area in the basement, good for kids and it is extra cool down there.
Linens and towels provided.
The bathrooms are good sized, with showers. Clean and tiled. We have nice neighbors and would ask that noise levels are kept to normal neighborhood levels.
Internet access. Small TV with Cable. 2nd small TV with good selection of Kids Video Tapes. Internet Access (bring your own lap top computer). CD Player. Telephone with unlimited national telephone calling.
$1100 per month.
One month rental damage deposit required.
* To get to the Beach, walk one house to the corner, cross Lakeshore Drive and follow Buchanan up the path to the beach access. You can walk, about 5 minutes, or if you have alot of stuff and/or small kids, you can drive up and park there, about 30 seconds by car! It is not a parking lot per se, just space for a couple cars.

Why the Owner Chose Grand Haven
We bought the property while we were living in London. We visited West Michigan every year for 6 weeks to visit family and friends and bought it (online!)for that purpose. We love the feel of the house - it is so open and relaxed. However, several years later we actually moved from London to live full-time in West Michigan, but this summer we are visiting London for a big family reunion (my husband's family -- I am from West Michigan). We will spend much of the summer away, so we have decided to make our cottage available for rent. We love Grand Haven and the beautiful Lake Michigan beaches. We also love the bike path and use it every day for biking, walking, scooting, skating, and selling lemonade. The town has a great personality, with some really good, fun restaurants, on the water and on the main street. Some of the bars and restaurants have good music, mostly acoustic guitar singing old favorites. Fun for all ages, as they say. The shopping is also great, with some stylish clothing and food shops, fun toy stores, quite a few specialty stores as well as some good general gift stores, run by people with good taste! We also love the library, recently remodeled and gorgeous, and there is a great bookstore, near 31 north. There also is a beautiful YMCA (called Tri-City Y), right on the waterfront, really nice, with loads of activities and exercise classes, for kids and adults.
The Unique Benefits at this House
The bike path and beach are great for beauty, fresh air and exercise. The town is fun and friendly. The pool offers hours of fun - it is great to be grilling out and have the kids jumping in the pool. Across the street and to the north about 1/8 of a mile is a campground with a playground for kids, and you can ride bikes around the campgrounds, and they also have ice cream and some food at a cafe on the campground. The house is bright and comfortable, we love being there and hope you will too.
